Sunday's Short Stack: The Yarn Wrangler by Charlie Cochet

Summary:

When Simon answers a Help Wanted ad for a yarn wrangler, he has no idea what that entails, or what he's getting himself into. Thanks to his soon-to-be ex-boyfriend, Simon needs the money. He takes the job, not expecting to be swept off his feet--literally--by Liam and his diva cat. The yarn hits the fan in this sweet short story.

* Please be aware that this story was originally published in the Heart2Heart Charity Anthology, Vol 3. under the same name. No new content has been added.

As with so many short stories I won't say too much so I don't spoil the story.  I will say that The Yarn Wrangler is short, sweet, funny, and has just the right dash of drama and heat to make for a very entertaining gem.  Simon and Liam's journey may be fast but sometimes, and I know not everyone agrees but I do as I wouldn't be here otherwise, you just know.  Be it insta-love or insta-attraction-quickly-becoming-near-insta-love, their story is believable but most of all it makes you smile.  Throw in a diva cat known as Miss Kitty Poppins and you have a read that is simply put: great fun.

RATING:

HELP WANTED
Yarn Wrangler
Have you ever thought to yourself, “I wonder what a house full of yarn looks like?” Have you ever dreamed of getting paid to box up a bunch of yarn? Like, a whole bunch. Loads of it. Enough yarn to equal a lifetime of naked sheep. Does yarn still come from sheep? Anyway, this is your lucky day! I’m looking for someone big and strong to help me wrangle my yarn. And no, that’s not a euphemism. Not that kind of ad, buddy. I’m drowning in yarn over here. If you’re interested in helping a guy out, please contact me before the yarn takes over.
Must like cats. ~ Liam

As far as classified ads went, this was probably one of the weirdest, if not the weirdest I’d come across, and not because it concerned yarn, though admittedly that was pretty damn weird. Exactly how much yarn was a bunch? Clearly a significant enough amount to warrant putting out an ad for help. I was more concerned about the owner of said yarn and how they’d acquired so much of it they were drowning in it. What kind of situation was I going to walk into here? The better question was, when had my life spiraled so out of control that I’d reached a point where I was answering an ad to box up yarn for extra cash? How had I reached this point?

“Sweetie, I’m home!”

Oh, right. That’s how.
