๐Ÿ’ปBlogger Review๐Ÿ’ป: Star Wars The High Republic Vol. 1 - There Is No Fear by Cavan Scott

Summary:

Star Wars: The High Republic (2021) #1-5.

A new era of Star Wars storytelling begins! Journey back to the High Republic - the golden age of the Jedi! Centuries before the Empire and the Skywalker saga, the Jedi are at their height, protecting the galaxy as Republic pioneers push out into new territories. But as the frontier prepares for the dedication of the majestic Starlight Beacon, the Padawan named Keeve Trennis faces the ultimate choice: Will she complete her Jedi trials, or rescue the innocent from disaster? And can she trust her closest ally? Hutts, Rancors, Gamorreans and far less familiar faces await in a tale of belonging and betrayal set in a rich and vast world of new Jedi! Prepare to experience new worlds! New ships! And new evils to fight - including the terrifying Nihil and a creeping alien horror!

Blogger Note: This is the first time I've ventured into The High Republic timeframe in any form so I can't speak to it's connection to anything before these 3 graphic novel collection nor any connection to the new Disney series, The Acolyte, fits in so I'll just review as is.

So much amazing storytelling that is perfectly suited for the SW universe we all know and love.  There are species and worlds we're familiar with but also plenty of new ones to explore.  Just as I did when the prequels began, I was fascinated to see the Jedi as a whole and to see them in their natural habitat, as it were.  I would say in THR we see them serving the light but being a bit more on the edge when it comes to the dark.

I'm not going to go into too much detail to give anything away but I will say that it was nice to see newly Knighted Jedi Keeve Trennis dealing with fear on many levels but especially her fear of not being good enough, not being ready, so often the newly Knighted we're use to seeing in the prequel and Clone War eras mask those fears with an overshadowing sense of "Finally! My time to shine".

Cavan Scott has definitely pulled me and I'll be reading more of this newest generation of Star Wars.
