Blogger Note: This is the first time I've ventured into The High Republic timeframe in any form so I can't speak to it's connection to anything before these graphic novel collection nor any connection to the new Disney series, The Acolyte, so I'll just review as is. (EDITED NOTE: I have since discovered the chronological order and that I have read a couple out of that order. However, like the movies long as you are able to read a particular story arc together the rest isn't that important, just something to keep in mind.)
Trail of Shadows fill in a few things between The Heart of Drengir and Jedi's End. If you're like me and didn't realize Trail existed and read Jedi's End first you won't be lost, it's just a few pieces of info help paint a rounder picture of events.
Trail is written by Daniel José Older and as it often is, everything SW flows together so beautifully you don't even realize the difference in authors. I mean no disrespect to the authors it's just they know and tell the SW universe so fluently it can be hard to determine one's style from the other.
Trail is a bit more detective work than some and in so doing we learn a bit more about what attacked Jedi Terec and his bond-twin Ceret. That detecting part just makes the whole SW reading experience even more entertaining, if that's possible😉.
