Alex and T.J. are in love.

Two thousand miles away in Hollywood, Alex’s old haunts, the powerful producer Brian Marks is falling apart because he’s lost her. The woman he never thought would leave him is now in the bed of a younger man.

Brian is intent on getting Alex back.

Lisa wants to make her pay.

And T.J. is attempting to keep her safe.

Alex believes she can take care of herself, but being with T.J. has taught her it’s not always that simple.

From the Washington, D.C. Beltway to Los Angeles, California, the stakes couldn’t be higher.

What is the biggest influence/interest that brought you to this genre?
I spent 10 years in the dating, sex and relationship worlds, and was Relationship Consultant (my actual title) at the LA Weekly, then the nation’s top alternative newsweekly. I spent years talking to women and men about modern relationships. Later branching out and become managing editor to one of the most trafficked sites on the web, getting emails from all over the world.

What I learned from the thousands of people to whom I spoke seemed like a natural for romantic fiction.

My interpretation of this genre brings an added emphasis on equality. Women are equal in all things in my novels, including their expertise in handling firearms, and bad guys.

When writing a book, what is your favorite part of the creative process (outline, plot, character names, editing, etc.)?
The act of writing is a wondrous adventure for me, especially since I've now turned from non-fiction, and journalism, to romantic thrillers.

Writing the first chapter is the most thrilling. You've got to get it right.

When reading a book, what genre do you find most interesting/intriguing?
I'm a huge fan of Michael Connelly, and the crime genre in general. It's one reason I've read so many Patricia Cornwell novels. But I have to say international spy novels are my favorite. I've read most of Tom Clancy's books, too.

I continually look for new modern romances, and peruse a lot of new releases in the genre. I'm a fan of Meredith Wild. Can't wait for Misadventures of a City Girl.

If you could co-author with any author, past or present, who would you choose?
It would have to be Robert Ludlum, creator of the Jason Bourne series.

Have you always wanted to write or did it come to you "later in life"?
I’ve known I was a writer since I was a young girl, when I kept journals. My performance ambition bit first and it landed me on Broadway, doing commercials, and also television.

I’ve been a non-fiction writer, and journalist, for many years, starting my journey into women's fiction in 2015. In fact, the switch to romantic fiction was sparked by a screenwriting competition Meryl Streep started by funding “a screenwriters lab for women writers over 40,” sponsored by New York Women in Film and Television. I didn’t win, but the fun I had writing the screenplay sparked an idea.

Why not try the romance genre? I published my first romantic suspense novel in February 2016.

I'm just getting started.

My Highland Cowboy by Alexa Milne

Title: My Highland Cowboy
Author: Alexa Milne
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: June 6, 2017
Summary:
Duncan McLeish owns a ranch. Unlike most ranches, this one is in the Scottish Highlands. Having inherited a failing farm from his grandfather, he turns it into a successful business. He has friends and he loves his home, but he’s lonely, and not even infrequent trips to Glasgow and Edinburgh slake that thirst to find someone. Then Drew Sinclair walks into his life.

Drew Sinclair is tantalizingly close to getting his clothing brand noticed in the industry. He and his business partner, Joy, create individual dresses, while, on the side, Drew produces a line of men’s lingerie. He visits Scotland to design a bridal gown for his sister, Jenna, who is marrying Duncan’s best friend at Christmas.

Duncan and Drew have nothing except their Highland upbringing in common, but they say opposites attract, and the attraction is immediate. Is this simply a summer fling, or can two men who live such opposite lives miles away from each other find a way to love?

Cowboys, the Scottish Highlands, opposites attract, comedy, romance, heat, family.  What's not to love?  My Highland Cowboy has it all and even though it is packed full of a little bit of everything it doesn't lose its heart.  The whole idea of a City Slickers style ranch in Scotland is an interesting setting to bring main characters Duncan and Drew together for a family and friends wedding.

On the surface, Duncan McLeish and Drew Sinclair could not be more opposite than their country vs. city lives they live.  But, as in life, not everything is as it seems.  Duncan's upbringing wasn't as country as his ranch now and Drew didn't always live in the city but now their lives are very different.  Will their chemistry be enough to overcome the location logistics? Well, for that answer you will have to give My Highland Cowboy a read for yourself but I can safely and honestly tell you that you will not regret it.

The old adage sometimes you have to give to get, well that is what Duncan and Drew are facing if they want to be together and watching them deny what they feel is more than a fling is a bit heartbreaking but seeing their family and friends rally around them, or at least try to, is heartwarming.  Having a story that can both break your heart and warm it on the same page is not easy and shows real talent by the author, as is having just the right amount of angst mixed into a lighthearted read.  My Highland Cowboy is not my first Alexa Milne read and it has proven that I'll be looking at her backlist to add to my TBR list.

The Royal Treatment by MJ Summers

Title: The Royal Treatment
Author: MJ Summers
Series: Crown Jewels Romance #1
Genre: Adult Romantic Comedy
Release Date: May 23, 2017
Summary:
Enough laughs to satisfy fans of Bridget Jones. Enough sparkly shoes and breathtaking ball gowns for fans of Cinderella…

Twenty-eight-year-old Tessa Sharpe, a.k.a. The Royal Watchdog, hates everything about Prince Arthur. As far as she’s concerned, he’s an arrogant, lazy leech on the kingdom of Avonia. When he shocks the nation by giving her the keys to the castle in an attempt to boost his family’s dismal public approval ratings, Tessa has no choice but to accept and move in for two months. It’s lust at first sight, but there’s no way she can give in to her feelings—not if she wants to have a career or a shred of pride left when her time at the palace ends.

Ultra-private, ultra-hot Crown Prince Arthur has always gotten by on his charm. But that won’t be enough now that the Royal Family is about to be ousted from power once and for all. When Prince Arthur has to rely on the one woman in the kingdom who hates him most, he must learn that earning the love of a nation means first risking his heart…

Can two natural enemies find their forever in each other’s arms, or will they ruin each other to save themselves?

PLEASE NOTE: The Crown Jewels Series is not a typical MJ Summers book. It’s a light romantic comedy, very heavy on the laughs with a low steam level (but lots of delicious sexual tension and some swearing).

Tessa:
“I don’t find you attractive at all, really,” I say.

He stops his hand and raises one eyebrow in response.

I hide my smile with everything in me. “I only slept with you because I felt sorry for you.”

“Oh, so that was a—”

“A pity fuck, I’m afraid.” I try my best to look apologetic, but he’s clearly not buying it.

“Three times?”

“I felt really, really, really sorry for you.”

Author Bio:
MJ Summers made a name for herself with her debut novel, Break in Two, a contemporary romance that cracked the Top 10 Paid on Amazon in the UK, as well as Canada (and the top 50 Paid in the USA). Her highly acclaimed Full Hearts Series was picked up by both Piatkus Entice (a division of Hachette UK) and HarperCollins Canada. Her first two books have been translated into Czech and Slovak by EuroMedia, with more translations underway.

MJ Summers currently resides in Edmonton, Canada, with her husband, three young children, and their goofy dog. When she's not writing romance novels, she loves reading (obviously), snuggling up on the couch with her family for movie night (which would not be complete without lots of popcorn and milkshakes), and long walks in the woods near her house. MJ also spends a lot more time thinking about doing yoga than actually doing yoga, which is why most of her photos are taken ‘from above’. She also loves shutting down restaurants with her girlfriends. Well, not literally shutting them down, like calling the health inspector or something. More like just staying until they turn the lights off...

MJ is a member of the Romance Writers of America, as well as the International Women's Writing Guild.
