When Kuthun tilted his head at the notes, I asked, “What else have you learned?”
“That the fish aren’t hungry today,” he joked as the music ended.
His strings broke apart, and, like silver glitter, they fluttered into the sand and disappeared. With one kick, Kuthun buried it all.

Shannon A. Thompson is a young adult author, avid reader, and a habitual chatterbox.
