Re-Readables 2019: 🎧Audiobook Edition🎧 Part 3

I have never been one to do much re-reading, which is surprising because I can re-watch a movie or television show I love endlessly but books just never seemed to interest me for revisiting.  When they introduced audiobooks it gave me a chance to enjoy some of my favorites over and over.  The past few years I guess I've changed and there are some books that have become almost required re-reading, the summer wouldn't be complete without a revisit.  This year I decided to do my annual re-read almost exclusively in audiobook, there are a few entries that are too short or just not released in audio yet that got the old fashion re-read.

New York Christmas
Audiobook Review September 2019:
My original review from 5 years ago is short and to the point.  Well, guess what?  Short and to the point states it perfectly.  I haven't re-read New York Christmas since, not because I didn't enjoy it, not because I didn't take the time, but because it was a holiday story and unfortunately I just have too many Christmas tales to read each year that I tend to not re-visit no matter how much I loved it the first time.  One of these years I will do a Re-Read Christmas in July Edition but until then, audiobooks make for a great chance to experience the magic again.

So the only thing I really have to add to this story is the narration.  Once again Sean Crisden brings to life the amazing-ness of RJ Scott's words.  Could another narrator do just as good a job?  Probably but at this time I can't imagine any other voice other than Crisden's.  New York Christmas is a bit sugary sweet(perhaps for some too much so) but if you can't have sugary sweet romance for Christmas then when can you?  This is a story of romance, friendship, discovery, all wrapped up in a lovely Christmas bow and Sean Crisden resonates that with every word.

Love Happens Anyway
Audiobook Re-Read Review September 2019:
I really don't think there is anything I can add to either my original ebook review or last year's audiobook review.  I may have listened to this a few months before the holidays but with RJ Scott's words and Sean Crisden's voice, I kept expecting to look up and see snow and my holiday light display outside my window.  Brilliant holiday tale from beginning to end.

The Christmas Throwaway
Audiobook Review September 2019:
Well, 5 years ago I had plans to re-read this one the following Christmas but unfortunately I did not, nor have I since.  Reasons, good or bad, I just have too many new holiday tales to devour every year so my faves get left behind.  I didn't exactly do the Re-Read Christmas in July Edition that I had planned but I did decide to enjoy a few in September while I was enjoying a plethora of audiobooks.  So The Christmas Throwaway was a definite re-visit in audio version this year and guess what?  I enjoyed it even more now than I did then.  This is definitely one of those stories that helps restore faith in human nature.  Once again, Sean Crisden lends his voice to RJ Scott's words making them a perfect duo for bringing romance to life.

Snowball in Hell
Audiobook Review September 2019:
Noir, mystery, history these are all some of my favorite genres so when they are all wrapped together with forbidden romance, at least forbidden in the era, and you have a brilliant story that I enjoy even knowing the whos and whys of the mystery.  Being able to enjoy the mystery element even knowing the culprit(or culprits - don't want to give anything away for the newbies) takes storytelling talent and Josh Lanyon has never let me down in that area.  As for the voice of Alexander Masters?  Perfectly suited for the whole noir era of the 1940s in Snowball in Hell.

Cards on the Table
Audiobook Review September 2019:
I still absolutely love the blending of historical, mystery, and contemporary romance in this Josh Lanyon novella.  Course, I still want to smack Tim and Jack's heads together a couple of times with their lack of communication but you have to have drama somewhere right?  Sean Crisden's narration is pretty spot on and adds a kindof noir flare to this blended contemporary mystery.  Now I can enjoy re-visiting Cards on the Table in both ebook and audio for years to come.

Murder Takes the High Road
Audiobook Review October 2019:
A year+ later and Murder Takes the High Road is just as good as I remember.  Creepy, funny, lusty, with creaks and groans around every corner or behind every seat if you will.  Carter and John may not be Adrien and Jake or Holmes and Moriarity but they embody everything I have come to love and expect from a Lanyon novel: romance, friendship(reluctantly at times), chemistry, and of course danger.  As for Gary Furlong's narration, he brings it all to life perfectly that helped remind me why Murder was my May Book of the Month in 2018.  I'm already looking forward to enjoying this one for years to come.
