For Indigo Stevens, ballet classes at Miss Roberta’s ballet studio offer the stability and structure that are missing from her crazy home life. At almost 16, she hopes this is the year she will be accepted into the New York School of Ballet. First she must prove she’s ready, and that means ignoring Jesse Sanders – the cute boy with dimples who is definitely at the top of Miss Roberta’s List of Forbidden Things for Dancers.

But Jesse is the least of Indigo’s concerns. When she discovers her mom is an alcoholic, it simultaneously explains everything and heaps more worry on Indigo’s shoulders. As her mom’s behavior becomes increasingly erratic, Indigo fights to maintain balance, protect her younger brothers from abuse, and keep her mother from going over the edge. When the violence at home escalates, Indigo realizes she can no longer dance around the issue. At the risk of losing everything, she must take matters into her own hands before it’s too late.

Prologue
Bobby
I can’t believe I have to go back in two days. There wasn’t enough time. Two weeks is just too short of a leave – I’ve only seen her three times. Once leaving school when I hid in the back of the parking lot. Once she and her mother were packing up to go to Pennsylvania for Christmas; and yesterday she was sitting out on her dock. I was across the river hiding behind a boat just to gaze at her. I feel like such a stalker but my heart aches for her. I haven’t felt whole since I left for basic training.
Now in just two short days I have to report to my Special Forces team. The casualty rate is fifty-nine percent so my odds of making it out in one piece aren’t in my favor. We’re going to the wilds of Afghanistan into the heart of Taliban territory. Along with normal patrols, my team could be called at any time to take out confirmed cells.
Looking into the mirror I finish brushing my teeth. I look much different than when I left eighteen months ago. Gone is the shaggy hair Lisa loved to jerk on while we kissed, now it’s barely more than stubble on my head. I grew two inches and put on thirty pounds of muscle. That’s what happens when you carry seventy-five pounds of gear for ten hours a day. I wonder what she will think when she sees me.
I can’t say I am sorry for leaving this town, that would be a lie. The Army has given my life purpose. Before enlisting the best I could have hoped for was being a plumber or electrician’s assistant until I could get a license. Now when I finally get out of the Army I can get a private security job. Hell, I could even qualify for Secret Service. I might even become a cop. A cop’s salary isn’t even close to what Lisa’s father makes but it’s nothing to sneeze at and it’s an honorable career.      Much better than the minimum paying factory job that her father said I would end up in.
I shake my head. There is no use thinking about a future that is over two years away. I have thirty-two months left before I can plan a future, that’s if I make it back alive. But tonight I have to see her one more time. I am hoping she will talk to me; she was pretty mad when I left. I had to break up with her; it wasn’t fair to ask Lisa to wait. At sixteen you shouldn’t be tied down to an absent boyfriend.
I hear the music as I walk out my door. Joe’s house is just four away from mine and all the neighbors know by now that this party happens each year. As long as the kids stay inside or in his backyard, no one will call the cops to break it up. My heart rate climbs as I get closer to the door. The front door is open and I can see the crowd through the storm door. Patty and April are just inside so I know I won’t be getting in unnoticed.  Taking a deep breath I open the door, “Holy shit!” Patty screeches, “Bobby Harber, where the hell did you come from?” She closes her arms around me. Patty lives across the street from me and we’ve been friends all my life. She is one of the only ones that know how hard I had it growing up. “I’ve missed you,” she whispers in my ear as she hugs me close.
“I missed you too, Red,” I tell her using my childhood name for her. “I’m sorry I don’t write more.” She is the only one I write to now. Well the only one that gets sent the letters I write, I have hundreds written to Lisa stashed away and never posted.
Patty’s arm gets ripped away from me, “Don’t be hogging him all to yourself, you bitch,” April says stepping into my arms. “Damn Bobby, you look good enough to eat,” she laughs while leaning back looking me up and down. April’s always been a flirt but she wouldn’t leave Greg for anything. “She’s in the kitchen, last I saw her,” April winks at me, “Go get your girl.”
The best and worst part of our group is there are no secrets. My being here for just the party is an illusion that won’t last long to the friends who know me. I turn towards the kitchen, “I’ll see you both later,” but I don’t really mean it.
“Just as long as you’re here tomorrow for clean-up crew,” Patty yells after me. New Year’s Day always starts with cleaning Joe’s house before we sit, eating and drinking leftovers while watching the games on TV. It will feel good to do something so normal so I turn and give her a thumbs up.  I receive greetings from everyone on my way back to the kitchen, they all comment on how I’ve gotten bigger and how happy they are I’m back in one piece. I scan the kitchen when I enter, there are a bunch of guys sitting at the table probably going to start a game of quarters, I wave at them but I’m not here for drinking games. I’m surprised to see Brad here, he never really hung around our group but if I know him he’s still sniffing around Lisa.  He always rubbed me the wrong way, I know he wants her but she only feels friendship towards him. Lisa’s not in here so I grab a beer and make my way into the family room where Joe sets up the dance floor.
Joe is standing to the right of the doorway and I bump my shoulder into him as I search the room for Lisa. I find her just as Joe shakes my hand, “I wasn’t expecting to see you,” he says patting my back.
“Where else would I be tonight?” I joke back, my eyes never leaving Lisa. She spots me and stops, her caramel eyes widen and I read so many emotions there; surprise, hurt, want, love – that surprises me, I thought she would hate me by now. I know Joe is saying something to me but I’m totally ensnared by Lisa; she’s changed too. Her hair cascades around her with curls and I want to bury my hands and face in it. She’s wearing a cute jeans skirt that shows off her long legs which I want wrapped around me, how many times have I dreamed about the silky feel of them? Her blouse is almost see through and the silhouette of her bra teases my eyes, making me ache to taste her nipples again. I’m getting hard and I haven’t even gotten close to her yet.
Her eyes break contact with me when someone bumps into her and she turns away threading through the group dancing to Gimme More by Britney Spears. I start to chase after her but Joe restrains me with a hand, “She’s had a hard time moving on, Bobby. Be gentle with her.” I nod acknowledging the statement but it doesn’t stop me, I physically need to hold her. I follow her and see she’s talking to Debbie; I’ll be hearing from Jimmy about this, I promised him I wouldn’t get anywhere near Lisa but I can’t help myself.  I step closer to her and turn her around running my hands down her arms, “Hey beautiful,” I say as I try to draw her into my arms.
She pushes against my chest, “Really Bobby, you just show up here and expect me to just fall into your arms? Sixteen months and not a word. Not even a letter, email, or a damn phone call!”
Stopping her from pulling away I stammer, “I missed you, baby. I just couldn’t be where I was and think about you too.” I pull her into me and lay my cheek against her head. “Please, baby, just let me hold you. I couldn’t stay away from you anymore. I only have two more days before I have to leave again and I want to spend them with you. Let me hold you and just talk to you. I miss your voice and the feel of you in my arms.” Her smell envelopes me and I feel like I’m home.
She’s tense for a few seconds then her arms go around my waist and she presses her whole body against me, “I missed you too.”
I pull away so I can see her face and the tears streaking down her beautiful face kill me. “Don’t cry, baby. I can’t stand it when you cry.” I lower my head to her and ghost my lips against hers. I want to devour her but I need to let her take the lead. She gasps and opens to me and I plunge my tongue in to taste her; beer and mint mix with her unique flavor and my body reacts to the one person who has the power to affect my soul. My heart beats wildly in my chest and my dick fills to the point of pain. I tilt her head to give me better access and the whole room fades into the background. I suck on her lower lip and she moans into my mouth as I bury my hands in her hair. She runs her hands over my chest and I can’t help it as my hand moves to her ass and I grind against her.
My mouth leaves hers and I make my way to her ear, “I need to be alone with you, baby,” I whisper. “Let’s get out of here. My house is so close and there’s no one home.” I pull away and take her hand,  “Will you come with me?”
She nods her head, “I have to tell Jodi though. I’m her ride.”
I look around and Debbie is still standing there, her eyes like daggers,  “Hey Debbie, Lisa and I are going to my house to talk. Can you tell Jodi when you see her?”
Debbie looks at Lisa, “Lisa, you are okay with this?”
Lisa glances back at me with glistening eyes, “Yeah Deb, I won’t be too long. We’ll be at his house. If we’re not back by midnight send one of the guys down to get us.”
Debbie nods and says, “Okay, I hope you know what you’re doing.”
I don’t wait for Lisa to re-think about what’s happening, I grab her hand and drag her behind me to the door. She gasps when the cold air hits her, I should have let her get her coat but stopping now is not an option. I yank her closer to me, surrounding her with my heat as we make our way to my house. I slam the door open and it tries to close on us but I haul her through the opening then press her against it, “Oh God, baby, I’ve missed you so much,” I say lowering my mouth to hers again. My hands on her cheeks holding her in place for my assault, grinding my cock into her, “You are more beautiful than I remember. I just want to be inside of you,” my body is on fire for her.
I pick her up and her legs wrap around me just like I fantasized about before. I want to hold her to me forever but I lower her onto the couch, following her down, bracing myself above her. I look at her below me and think how lucky I am that she didn’t reject me. I wouldn’t have blamed her and I feel like shit that I’m leaving again in two days and don’t have the strength to leave her alone. Her heart is in her eyes and I wonder if she can see the love I hold for only her reflected in my eyes. I can’t stop myself from touching I ease her shirt over her head then take her mouth again before making my way down her throat, over the pulse racing there, along her collarbone as I push the cups of her bra down to release those perfect breasts. I suckle her nipple and my cock jerks in my pants, “I missed the taste of you, baby, no one tastes like you. You are perfect.” I unclasp her bra and pull it off as her breath starts coming in gasps. I’ve made her come with my fingers and mouth but tonight I need to be inside her when she comes. My hand moves down her side and she shivers underneath me, god I love how responsive she is to me. It kills me that I wasn’t her first but I couldn’t take her virginity and leave, what kind of douchebag would that have made me. I drop my hand to her thigh and push up her skirt, her panties are drenched and I can smell her arousal. “God you are so wet for me, baby. I am going to make you come so hard,” I press the palm of my hand against the wet silk. “I need to taste you, baby. I missed having my tongue in you. “
I pull her skirt and panties off she spreads her legs for me and my heart misses a beat, “I almost forgot how beautiful you were.” I lower my head and inhale her scent, so unique to her. I part her folds with my fingers and lave her with my tongue in one long swipe. She arches her back, nearly pushing us both off the couch. I capture her leg and throw it over my shoulder and attack. I suck, lick and nibble on her clit as I ease a finger into her. She calls out my name and I almost come in my pants.
“God you are still so tight, baby. I still wish I was your first,” I confess to her.
“You will be Bobby. Steve and I never got this far,” she says. And just like that it’s like someone threw a bucket of ice water on me. I can’t take her virginity. I’m not asshole enough to make her a hook-up. I stop and look at her, “What do you mean? You guys were together for almost a year.” I don’t understand.
“He wasn’t you. It has always been you, Bobby.”
I sit up. “I can’t be your first, Lisa. I am leaving in two days. I won’t do that to you.”
“But you are the only one I want, Bobby,” Lisa cries. “Please, I want you so much.”
God I want her so much but I can’t, won’t be that guy, “Get dressed, Lisa, we’re going back to the party.” I stand and hold my hand out to her.
“Fuck you asshole! You think you can come back and I won’t be a virgin anymore so it would be ok to fuck me and leave me? That’s why you came back isn’t it? You’re an asshole!” I wince at her words but as much as I want her it wouldn’t be right. I’ve probably just blown any chance at ever having a life with her and my heart is breaking.
Lisa grabs her clothes and gets dressed then stomps to the door. I follow her wanting to be near her even if she hates me.
“Just where do you think you’re going? You need to stay here. You’ve already fucked up my night. The least you could do is let me try to salvage my New Year’s.”
“I just want to make sure you get back okay,” I whisper. There are tears on her cheeks again and I put them there.
“It’s four houses, Bobby. I will be fine but you will always be an asshole.” She turns and walks away from me and I let her. Leaning against the doorframe I can’t believe this night ended any hope I held of future happiness. My heart just left and I’m never getting it back.

Summary:
Leilani’s plan was simple: Return for her father’s wedding, housesit for the happy couple while they went on their honeymoon, then get the hell outta dodge. She’d thought the worst thing would be returning to the town she grew up in (and despised). She was wrong.

A flashflood hits the small town, stranding Firefighter, Ryan, and a few strangers at the local bar. Worst of all, Leilani, his old high school rival – and last night’s scorching one-night-stand – is one of the people stuck in the bar. With waters rising, they need to stick together and wait for rescue.

The power grid’s knocked out, and cell phones aren’t working. When the others panic and leave, Leilani and Ryan are left alone in the dark. Fortunately, words aren’t necessary to keep the former rivals warm. But when they’re forced to leave their refuge, they must cooperate to navigate the flood ravaged town and reach safety.

Rising waters bring them closer together. Rising tempers might tear them apart.

A “heavenly flower” watched him from across the room. Ryan felt the weight of her gaze on him before checking her out more subtly in the mirror behind the small hotel bar. Was it really Leilani, though? By the time he turned to check for sure, she was gone. He shook his head and took another sip of his beer. He tugged at his collar and sent a little hatred at weddings in general. This one wasn’t terrible, less showy than most, though he still had to wear stiff, formal clothes.
Not that his turnouts were comfortable, but at least there was a point to his work gear; it protected him from fires. Nothing protected him from the small talk of the people around him. Yes, it was a nice wedding. Yes, it was amazing how they’d managed to make the room “their own” with only some crepe paper and balloons. No, he wasn’t seeing anyone. Yes, the cucumber sandwiches were delicious. Yes, Mildred’s hat was lovely. No, he wasn’t in a firefighter’s calendar. Yeah, he got the joke about his “pole.” Yes, he was single. No, he wasn’t interested in being set up on a blind date.
He didn’t begrudge good people good things, but it was like life was rubbing his face in the fact he hadn’t found anyone since Melanie had left him just over a year ago. He’d found a lot
of someone’s since her, but a relationship wasn’t something for him. Hell, even Melanie had gotten married.
To the bastard she cheated on him with.
He took another swig of beer, wishing he was somewhere quieter.
He’d met Kyle “Spence” Spencer, four years ago at the twelve-week training program to be a firefighter, and they’d been buddies ever since. They’d saved each other’s lives a couple times, and he was the reason Ryan was sitting in dress pants, dress shirt, and a tie that felt like it was choking him. Ironically, Spence had left his dad’s wedding early to go back to the station, refusing Ryan’s offer to go for him, knowing Ryan had just come off working two twenty-four hour shifts with only ten hours in between. The flu going around was kicking their station in the teeth, and they couldn’t wait until they were only working fifty-six hours a week again.
So here he was at the Spencer wedding. And—duh—that “flower” he’d thought he’d seen. Yeah, it had to be Leilani. Spence’s little sister wouldn’t have missed her father’s nuptials. They just looked so different.
Kyle’s sister. His buddy Kyle’s little sister. His co-worker and buddy Kyle’s off-limits little sister.      He hadn’t seen her since he graduated high school—two classes ahead of her—but oh, how she’d grown up.
Still, Spence’s sister was off-limits, even though he’d known her since she was a varsity cheerleader, and he’d been the star quarterback, adored by everyone. He’d played football because he was good at it and it was an easy ride—not because he really loved the game. He’d gotten a full scholarship to college, but had no interest in going pro. He’d wanted to do something with his life. Not like it had done him any good in the present. He was still going home to an empty house—
unless he took someone warm and wild home with him. If Leilani wasn’t his best friend’s sister, they’d be in his truck now.
Instead, he sat watching happy couples do the chicken dance. It was definitely time to go. He hadn’t expected to have a family at this point, but he’d thought at twenty-six he’d have found the woman he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. It certainly hadn’t been Melanie, no matter how badly he’d wanted it to be.
He slid from his stool. Hard work and hot sex were all he wanted. Screw marriage and commitment. They just complicated things. He was good at no strings. He was good at setting a woman’s senses on fire with pleasure and fine with the one-and-done kind of mindless sex.
And maybe that was all he was good for.

Mending Heartstrings by Aria Glazki

Title: Mending Heartstrings
Author: Aria Glazki
Published by: Swoon Romance
Publication date: December 2nd 2014
Genres: Adult, Romance

Summary:
Kane’s a country singer who’s tangled with too many deceitful women. He’s learned his lesson: girls are for flirting and fun; emotions are for his music. But after spending a night with an earnest woman unlike any he’s known, he can’t force her out of his mind. So he goes in search of the woman he knows only as “Elle.”

On her last night in Nashville, the staunchly pragmatic Sabella found herself in a situation more suited to a romance novel than reality. Swept away, she ignored her rigidly self-imposed rules, succumbing to the fantasy just this once. But she knows real-world relationships have nothing in common with their fictionalized portrayals. When Kane unexpectedly shows up at her Portland apartment, she must choose between the practical truths she has learned and the desire for a passionate love she has struggled to suppress.

Despite the distance, Kane’s tour schedule, and their meddling friends, both are drawn to the chance for a romance neither quite believes is possible.

Kane rested his forearms on the bar and bent his head down, exhaling. As always, he’d scanned the audience a few times while he played, trying to read the room’s reactions. Tonight, too many people had been absorbed in their own conversations around the bar’s simple wooden tables. Only one pair of eyes had met his. A striking, unwavering pair of eyes. She’d been standing toward the back, alone. He’d felt her watching him even when he’d closed his eyes.
But she hadn’t been standing there when he’d come back out. Probably just as well.
Cody set down a chilled beer in front of Kane. He tipped it toward the bartender as thanks. A couple drinks, a little bit of flirting, and there’d be no more need to think about his songs tonight.
Turning back toward the room, Kane bumped a girl he hadn’t noticed seated next to him at the bar. “Ah! Sorry ’bout that,” he said with a half-smile, ramping up the charm.
She twisted toward him. “I’ll survive.” The corners of her mouth pulled up, but Kane couldn’t look away from her eyes. Hazel, he realized. Unlike when he’d been on stage, her gaze fell, and she started to turn back to the bar.
“Kane,” he offered, shifting his beer to his left hand and offering up his right. A handshake. Smooth. This really was an off night.
Her eyes flicked down to his hand then laughingly back to his face. Her eyebrows drew up in a small challenge as she placed her hand in his. “Like the sugar, or the stick?”
“With a K …” He leaned back against the bar, resting on one elbow.
“So, not Abel’s brother. Good to know.”
Normally he’d have walked away at a line like that, but it wasn’t like he’d been offering conversational gold. Maybe this would help him shake it off before he made his move on the trio Cody’d pointed out. And then there were those eyes … “Go ahead and joke. I’ve probably heard them all.”
“Don’t tempt me.” Her lips curved softly. Mischief glinted in her eyes.
“And how could I do that?” Kane let himself relax, sliding back into the easy feel of the bar. Unlike his performance, this conversation didn’t really matter.
“I’m sure you have a few tricks up your sleeves.” She picked up the glass of white wine she’d been nursing and took a sip, without dropping her smile or taking her eyes off him.
A local girl would’ve been drinking beer. But then, a local girl would’ve known exactly who he was, which could lead to nothing more than a mildly satisfying romp in the sack. He remembered his own beer and took a swig.
“Worried?” he asked, after she set her glass back down.
That got him a bigger smile. “Please, I can take anything you throw at me.”
“Maybe we should test that theory.” He took another sip of beer. This was getting more and more interesting.
“By all means,” she replied, not missing a beat.
He was used to women flattering him, fawning over him. His Southern charm had rarely failed him, and as a singer, he wasn’t hurting for female attention, especially since country music wannabes thought he’d be a perfect springboard for their careers. But he hadn’t met someone who actually intrigued him in a while. Too long.
He turned to face her, leaving his elbow resting on the bar, and set down his beer. “I didn’t catch your name.”
“Call me Elle,” she answered, tilting her head slightly, a silent question on the change in direction.      Her eyelashes didn’t flutter with calculated coyness, and her direct gaze didn’t falter.
Kane straightened, suddenly inspired. “Pleased to meet you, Elle. Excuse me a sec?” He grabbed the bottle he’d just set down and turned away from her. Another swig and he returned to the back room. This was nothing short of crazy, but he picked up his guitar anyway and walked back to the small stage.

Author Bio:
Aria Glazki's writing story started when her seventh-grade English teacher encouraged her to submit a class assignment for publication. That piece was printed, and let's just say, she was hooked!

Since then, Aria has run a literary magazine, earned her degree in Creative Writing (as well as in French and Russian literatures), and been published in a few collections. Though her first kiss technically came from a bear cub, and no fairytale transformation followed, Aria still believes magic can happen when the right people come together - if they don't get in their own way, that is.

Other than all things literary, Aria loves spending time with her family, including her two unbearably adorable nieces. She also dabbles in painting, dancing, playing violin, and, given the opportunity, Epicureanism.

When a mysterious revolutionary seeks their help to infiltrate Auberge’s electronic heart and shut it down, it’s an opportunity—it’s risky, yes, but if it works they’ll get out of the city and taste freedom for the first time. Naya needs this. They need this.

Beyond the broken walls of Auberge, Naya and Ric find the paradise they’ve always longed for. But with anarchy reigning and Naya’s children lost amidst the chaos, they’ll need to forfeit their post-apocalyptic Eden…or commit an unspeakable act.

Book two of two.

#1:
“     No!” Sonya shouted, clenching her jaw as her eyes bugged wide. “Not enough! It’s our fault we got those girls killed. Her fault!” She pointed at me again, and I felt my insides burst into flames and scatter like ash. “So don’t stand there and tell me how feeling compassion is the way to go. Compassion only gets people killed faster. It’s using your fucking brain, and thinking, planning, strategizing, that’s going to end this war. It’s following your goddamned mission and not getting distracted! And guess what? People are still going to die. So go ahead, stay behind because it feels right. Choose the fate of hundreds of thousands of people based on your fucking feelings.”

#2:
He peeled open my shirt, pulled up my bra and kissed and licked my body, my nipples, my ribs, navel—everywhere his hands roamed, so did his mouth.
To my surprise, I moaned with pleasure. His touch was having a strange effect on me. I could hardly think straight. He was soft, gentle, hot and wet. He was painting me with his hands and it enveloped me whole.
I’m not ready for this! But oh, my God! It feels so good.

#3:
“You don’t have to do this,” Ric whispered.
I swallowed the terror in my throat and licked my lips with my dry tongue.
The elevator stopped, and I heard the sound of a tiny bell as the doors slid open.
“We can find another way,” he said.
I stepped through the open doors and drew my pistol.

Yes, New Adult is a Thing, Can We Move on Now?
Every time an editor or agent tweets that New Adult is just a marketing gimmick or a fad, somewhere in the universe, an author dies.

Okay, so maybe he or she doesn’t die – maybe they’re just clutching their chest, or banging their head on their desk, or bashing their laptops with a baseball bat.

The truth is, nobody knows for sure if New Adult has staying power. So far, there have been great successes in self-publishing New Adult, particularly in Contemporary Romance, and traditional pubs are catching up quickly. Even after Publisher Weekly reported that New Adult was an actual thing, there are still those who are unwilling to accept it.

Part of me wonders if these naysayers were also the ones who predicted ebooks would destroy publishing as we know it. Or, maybe they’re just slow adapters, the kinds of people who resent their iPhone upgrades (I’m guilty of this myself), or maybe they understand that the publishing industry can be fickle, and just like in Project Runway, one day you’re in – the next, you’re out!

Whatever their reason for refusing to believe that New Adult is real, if they keep up with the disapproval, they sure aren’t helping! All they’re doing is hurting a lot of feelings from a lot of hard working authors and being negative, and in my limited life experience, being a pessimist makes you a good at creating Dystopia, but isn’t very useful otherwise.

Expanding New Adult Beyond Contemporary
I have very odd taste when it comes to reading. I don’t like just one thing. I go on binges. I’ll read three fantasies, followed by several science fiction titles, followed by a couple historicals, then off to a contemporary romance, then a horror or a thriller – I’m all over the place, in almost all categories (YA, NA, adult) and I believe most readers are like me. Readers don’t read just one thing. We cast a wide net.

So when I hear opinions that New Adult is a contemporary romance category only – my argument to that is, “So far.”

I truly believe that yes, New Adult is a thing, and it’s real, but it’s also evolving. I love the fact that publishers and indie authors are evolving with New Adult, too. There are so many titles out there now that go beyond the “Damaged Girl Meets Boy” story, which I love for reasons all it’s own, but because readers are naturally inclined to want variety, there are also “Girl From Wrong Side of Tracks Falls for Wrong Guy” (aka. WILD ONES by Kristine Wyllys), “Girl on Trial for Murder in Cyber-Prison” (aka. THE WICKED WE HAVE DONE by Sarah Harian), and “Girl Sees Dead People, Literally,” (aka. DARK PARADISE by Angie Sandro), and if I may be so bold as to include “Girl Battles Mega-Corporation in Dystopian Society,” (aka. CARRIER by Anne Tibbets) – all these being New Adult titles that go beyond the confines of contemporary romance.

So, I guess what I’m proposing is if you’re getting a little burnt out on New Adult, well GUESS WHAT? Options.

Because just like how New Adult is evolving, so are its readers.

I Love “Good” Bad Reviews
Crazy, right?
Who is their right mind would love bad reviews?
Honestly, I love the “good” bad reviews – the what? I mean the ones that have actual issue with the book itself and not the ones that just hate the author, or hate the main character’s life choices, or hate the concept as a whole, and you wonder why they read the book to begin with? I’m talking the “good” bad reviews that find plot holes, don’t buy the character arcs, or have issue with world-building, structure, and style. An actual critique, even if the reviewer hates my work?

Love those!

Now, this is not an invitation.
I’m not asking for you to go on GoodReads and rip apart my writing line by line. That would probably devastate me, let’s me honest. But, done well, a “good” bad review challenges and creates a fire within me.

It burns. It hurts. It even leaves scars. But the fire also teaches me something and I can’t not appreciate a good learning experience, even if it leaves a mark.

So critique away. Go for it! I welcome it.
Just do me one favor: make it a “good” one.
