Sunday Safe Word Shelf: Mistletoe and Submission by Kim Dare

Summary:
“Stand under the mistletoe until midnight, naked, bound and blindfolded. Submit to any dominant who wants a piece of you.”

At the junior doms regular poker night, anything can, and frequently does, happen. Add in crackers that contain dares instead of jokes and two men’s lives might never be the same again.

When Carl applied to join the best leather club in the city, he had no doubt about his preference for dominance. It was only when he set eyes on Sloan that he began to wonder if submission might be far more fun than he originally thought.

With no time for club politics and little interest in rising through the ranks, ever since experienced dom Sloan moved to the city and joined the club, he’s been quite content to bide his time among the junior dominants and keep a brotherly eye on a young man who is obviously out of his depth amongst his more sadistic contemporaries.

One man has to do the dare. The only question now, is which man will it be, and are either of the friends ready for the way their relationship might change after a night of Mistletoe and Submission?

“Bloody hell—leave the man be. If he doesn’t want a blowjob, there’s no rule that says he has to have one!” The front legs of Sloan’s chair slammed into the floorboards as he stopped balancing precariously on the back legs of the fine mahogany antique and suddenly leant forward to rest his elbow on the green baize. “Now, are you in or not?”

While everyone else’s attention seemed to turn back to the poker game, Carl Jenkins glanced down at the submissive kneeling at his feet. Shaking his head, he offered the rather confused looking sub an apologetic smile. “Nothing personal.”

The guy silently crawled away, towards the next dominant sitting around the table and quickly set to work. Within seconds Mike’s fly was unzipped, and the sub had his lips wrapped around his third cock of the evening.

As the bets were placed, Carl barely looked at his own cards before he folded. His mind wasn’t on the game right then. He mentally rolled his eyes at himself as he stared at the tiny stack of poker chips that remained before him.

He supposed he should be used to placing his bets blind. There was only one thing he’d ever managed to think about on any of their regular poker nights, and it was never the sodding cards.

As he took a sip of his beer, Carl glanced, as subtly as possible, towards Sloan. The older man’s attention was all focussed on his cards. His hair was longer than it had been when Carl had first met him a few months before. The ragged blond strands fell forward into Sloan’s eyes as he studied the game, sharp blue eyes quickly taking in every detail.

He increased the stakes, pushing several extra stacks of chips into the pot. Carl’s eyes followed his every movement with as much rapt attention as they always did. Sloan had wonderful hands, strong and confident. It was so easy to imagine those hands—

Quickly shutting down that line of thought, he tore his attention away from Sloan and all the amazing things he could so easily picture the other guy’s hands doing.

Out of the corner of his eye, Carl noticed that Mike had finished enjoying the sub’s mouth and had folded out of the game too. Pushing back his chair, the other dominant left the room. A hint of a Christmas tune floated into the room from somewhere else in the club as the door was opened.

Another snippet of a carol informed Carl of Mike’s return a few minutes later, just as Sloan scooped up his winnings. The moment the last chip was cleared from the centre of the table, half a dozen Christmas crackers were tossed down in their place.

Carl kept his attention on Sloan as the older man raised an eyebrow and glanced from the crackers to Mike and back again. He didn’t need to actually say anything. His expression alone was enough to let everyone know he wasn’t in the mood for stupidity.

Apparently far too pleased with his latest scheme to take the hint, Mike turned his seat around and straddled it, still grinning from ear to ear.

“Very festive?” Ryan offered, somewhat warily, from the other end of the oval table.

“Wait ‘til you pull one!” Mike said, eyes sparkling with someone’s future misfortune.

“What happens then?” Todd asked from the seat next to him, leaning back in his chair a little, as if one of the garishly coloured tubes might leap up and attack him at any moment.

“Then the lucky winner has to do the dare inside.”

Carl’s gaze reluctantly settled on the crackers, wondering what chance he had of getting out of pulling one of the damn things. He could guess what sort of dares they would contain if Mike had written them. At best, it would be painful and humiliating.

At worst… Carl glanced across to Sloan. He didn’t want to think about his worst case scenario right then. It would be far too much like tempting fate.

“Carl, you’re first,” Mike announced.

“Why Carl?” Sloan cut in, before Carl could scrape two words together.

“Because he never does a damn dare!” Mike protested. He turned to Carl. “What’s wrong, sweetheart? Scared of a little Christmas cracker?”

Bloody terrified would have been closer to the mark, but Carl reached out and picked up one anyway. There wasn’t much else he could do. Any dominant worth his salt would rise to that kind of bait. If he backed down, he knew he might as well just skip straight to that worst case scenario anyway.

Sloan held out a hand to pull it with him.

Christmas and Strudel
“Since we’re being truthful, I’m not beautiful…so, sorry to disappoint you.”

“Are you kidding me? The last thing I am is disappointed. You’re funny, smart, and know lots about your company and your business. You’re right, I can only tell that you have dark hair, a big fluffy scarf, and soft hands. I can’t picture someone until I can imagine their face.”

“How do you imagine them?”

Ryker drew his glove slowly off his hand and scooted close. “I can only imagine someone’s face if I touch it. Can I touch yours?”

“Yes.” She nodded.

He cupped her cheek. Gently, like the brush of a butterfly’s wing, he drew his index finger over her eyebrow, across her eye, cheek and then down across her lips. He continued slowly up the other side as though he was mapping each inch. His touch was one of the most stirring and sensual things Aubri had ever felt.

He smiled faintly. “Now, I know what you look like…and you lied, you are beautiful.”

In Love with Paris
One of the airport gift shops displayed the New York Times latest book releases and my favorite romance author, Susan Couple’s, Love Comes for the Holidays sat front and center of the rack. The hardcover displayed a large Christmas tree filled with lights, ornaments and a breathtakingly gorgeous couple kissing in front of a fireplace. I grabbed a copy and clutched it to my chest and rushed to counter. As the clerk rang up the book, I added a large bag of M&M’s. What could be better than chocolate and a good romance novel? Susan Couple would probably say a sexy man, but there was a shortage of those in my life.

That’s when it hit me, the woman that got out of that rude man’s car looked exactly like the photo on the back cover of Love Comes for the Holidays. Sharp, silver-blue eyes stared out from her chiseled, small oval face topped with short, spiky jet-black hair. Holy cripes, Susan Couple was here at the airport.

As I turned with the book still clutched to my chest and I bumped into a wall, well not a wall, but a solid mass of muscle that smelled of some wonderful, smoky, exotic scent. He gently grabbed my shoulders but he didn’t let go when I looked up into his enchanted, lash-fringed, green eyes. His perfectly chiseled jaw looked like something Michelangelo would have carved himself.

Pardon.” His sultry, rich, baritone voice made my stomach flutter.

If I stepped two inches closer I’d be wrapped in his strong arms. I immediately stepped back. What was I thinking? This gorgeous guy was a complete stranger.

Christmas in Tuscany
“A fascinating beautiful woman you are, Erika.” He moved his chair to sit beside her and then reached for her hand. He lifted it to his lips and left a gentle kiss. “I’ve waited for the woman of my dreams to appear and here you are.” His words definitely confirmed her suspicion of a mutual attraction. Unless, she wondered; his words were part of an act to get her into his bed. Her promise to hold off a relationship until she found the one she’d spend her life with was suddenly filed at the back of her brain. Even if this turned out to be a fling, it would remain as memorable as the wine tour. She nervously chuckled.

“I bet you say that to all the girls.”

He joined her laughter. “That didn’t come out quite the way I’d expected. It wasn’t an attempt to get you into my bed. Trust me. I’m not that guy. That would be my brother.”

Darn! I was just imagining how great a lover you’d be.

Twice as Nice Christmas
I still can’t believe what I’ve shared with this man I’ve only known for less than a week. Yet it seems we’ve been together for the ages. Maybe there really is something to past lives, and those lives and the people from them intersecting with the present. Or perhaps that’s all just whimsy, and our meeting was Fate, or merely chance.

All I know for sure is I am happy that we did meet. Then that little voice in my head tells me to not get attached to Damyan. That any time now we will separate and all that will remain are the memories. I know that’s what I wanted, but now, I’m not sure. I’ve never met such a kind and decent man. I will be reluctant to leave him behind.

But oh what a vacation he has given to me so far, and though we’ve not spoken about Christmas, I’m hoping we’ll spend it together – maybe even both celebrations. The traditional December 25 date, and the January 7 Orthodox Christmas.

How totally divine! Christmas celebrated two times. Twice as nice!

Release Day Blitz: Professional Distance by Silvia Violet

Title: Professional Distance
Author: Silvia Violet
Series: Thorne & Dash #1
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: November 28, 2015
Cover Design: LC Chase
Summary:
Thornwell Shipton is wealthy, uptight, closeted, and an incurable workaholic. A tragic love affair left him terrified of relationships, so he tells himself sex is better scheduled and paid for.

Riley Dashwood is young, easy-going, and comfortable in his own skin. He’s a passionate baker and an aspiring chef, working as an escort to save up for culinary school.

They’re clearly made for each other.

When Thorne hires Dash, it’s lust at first sight. After a few scorching nights together, both men start to wonder if what’s between them is more than physical, but their age gap and resistance to romance make them afraid to change their professional relationship to a personal one. Dash pushes Thorne to admit he wants things he’s denied himself for years. Kinky things. Soft, caring things. Things that force him to open his heart, not just his body. To move forward, one or the other must take a risk and ask for what he really wants.

Thorne’s intercom buzzed. “A Mr. Dash is here to see you. He says he’s expected. Shall I send him up?”

“Yes, Je-Michaels, thank you.” Michaels had only been working as a doorman in Thorne’s building for a few weeks, yet Thorne had lost count of the number of times he’d almost called the man Jeeves. Michaels’ British accent and starched appearance simply begged for it. Years ago he’d loved to watch and re-watch the Masterpiece Theatre version of Wodehouse’s Jeeves and Wooster, with Clint, his—boyfriend was certainly not right, even lover didn’t fit—boss. His boss whom he’d occasionally fucked. Now, he couldn’t remember the last time he’d watched anything but videos of junior consultants’ meetings.

Two crisp knocks at the door signaled that Dash had made the long elevator ride to his penthouse apartment.

Thorne’s pulse sped up. He resented how very much he needed this respite from work, these moments where he actually let go of all his clients’ woes and indulged himself. Yet he kept paying for it, every week that he was in town. He imagined being fucked roughly, hands held down, as Dash whispered dirty words in his ear. By the time Thorne reached the door, he was already hard. Dash damn well better work out; but whether or not Thorne requested him to come back, he was going to get fucked tonight.

He checked the peephole out of habit, although Michaels and the other doormen were quite strict about checking credentials before allowing anyone in the building. The young man standing at Thorne’s door appeared to be in his early twenties, as were most of the service’s employees. He had dirty-blond hair that curled loosely and was longer than he could have worn it if he’d worked in Thorne’s office. His hazel eyes had a mischievous look to them that held promise. His smile, however, wasn’t at all what Thorne was expecting. It was fresh and sunny and it reached his eyes, a true smile, like he was meeting a friend, not conducting illicit business.

Quit trying to read so much into him. This isn’t a business meeting where you have to size up the clients. It’s a fucking hook-up that you paid for.

Thorne opened the door.

“Mr. Shipton?” the boy asked.

Thorne nodded and stepped back so Dash could enter.

“I’m Dash; Sheila told me you were a client of Marc’s.” Dash lifted the strap of the messenger bag he carried over his head and sat the bag against the wall in the entryway.

“That’s right,” Thorne answered. “He suited my needs perfectly.”

“And you think I won’t?”

Fuck. Was he that transparent or was this kid that good? “What I think is that the rapport I had with Marc was hard to find.”

“He’s a switch and a damn good one.” Dash’s look said he knew that from personal experience.

“Correct.”

“So am I.” Dash smiled, and Thorne reacted as if he’d wrapped his hand around Thorne’s dick.

Thorne’s gaze moved down Dash’s body. He was shorter than Marc, who’d matched Thorne’s six feet, maybe five feet nine or five feet ten. His body was lean but not without muscle. If Thorne had to guess, he’d say Dash was a runner. His tight black pants clung to his body, giving the impression he had a rather nice package.

“Shall I make you a drink while we discuss exactly what you’d like tonight?” Dash asked, wandering toward the kitchen.

It took a few seconds for the words to register in Thorne’s brain. Dash was…hot, fucking hot. But there was something else about him, something Thorne couldn’t define, that had Thorne salivating to get him naked and in bed. If Thorne believed in anything as hokey as “auras,” he would’ve said Dash had a powerful one. Thorne pushed the thought away, disgusted. Too much work and too little sex must have fried his brain. He’d been so busy that week he hadn’t even found time to jerk off.

“I don’t need a drink, and I don’t want to talk.”

Dash grinned and propped himself against the bar in the kitchen area, cocking his hip out. The pose was obviously calculated to make Thorne appreciate his slim waist. “That eager, huh?”

“I realize some people hire escorts for companionship. They want to know someone is listening to them. I’m sick of talking: to clients, to employees, to fucking airport desk agents. I don’t need you to pretend to be my friend. I need to be fucked.”

“Sure of that, are you?” Dash asked, walking around the bar and entering the kitchen.

“Yes.”
