RIVAL DREAMS is the dramatic and heartwarming conclusion to Natalie Decker’s RIVAL LOVE series.

1. What is the biggest influence/interest that brought you to this genre?
I loved reading YA and NA. I love the first time romance, or the messy relationships before Marriage, Jobs, Bills, Families and all that drama takes place.

2. When writing a book, what is your favorite part of the creative process(outline, plot, character names, editing, etc)?
My favorite part would be writing the story. Getting to follow the characters story from start to finish is always fun.

3. When reading a book, what genre do you find most interesting/intriguing?
I read everything but mostly YA and NA, sometimes contemp romance, Fantasy, paranormal, and some Sci-fi

4. If you could co-author with any author, past or present, who would you choose?
JK Rowling, I love her imagination and her writing style.

5. Have you always wanted to write or did it come to you "later in life"?
Definitely later in life. I always LOVED stories, and writing poetry but I never really attempted a story until I was in college. Most of our assignments in English lit was writing short stories.

But then there was reality: she wasn’t truly his.

Popsicle sticks, a container of steaming goo, and a stack of fabric swatches sat on the table next to the head of the bed. My heart pounded in my chest. Sweat built on my brow. “It’s my first time, and I’m a little frightened.” Terrified was more like it. I’d never been waxed. I’ve always been a fan of trimming, but waxing seemed so severe.

“No need to be scared. We do these all day, every day. I haven’t lost a client yet.”

Her attempt at humor didn’t erase my anxiety. I hopped on the table wearing a bra, shirt and nothing else. The waxer started some friendly conversation.

“Where are you from?” I was instructed to fold my legs Indian style. As I laid flat on the table, I answered her questions. My open vagina was on display for a perfect stranger. I better get used to this—it would be a constant in my new life.

I didn’t know what kind of nerve endings were on top of my lady parts, but when she ripped the wax free, I was certain she had ripped my soul straight out of my clit.

I wanted to punch her face as my body lifted off the table. All the while, she was telling me about her favorite Chinese restaurant on Broadway. She was spreading hot wax all over my sex and she was talking about Wonton soup.

Release Day Blitz: Charlie Foxtrot by Lani Lynn Vale

Title: Charlie Foxtrot
Author: Lani Lynn Vale
Series: Code-11 SWAT #5
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Release Date: September 3, 2015
Summary:
Foster made a promise in his hospital bed when his leg was taken from him that he’d get back to one hundred percent. Leg or no leg, he’d get back on the SWAT team if it killed him.

And he does get back. But he has a problem.

He can’t let go of the past.

The anger burns deep, making his emotions volatile at the best of times.

Then he meets Blake with her haughty attitude and inability to distinguish the difference between a pocket knife and a sword.

Little by little, she makes him whole again, one bad joke at a time.

She doesn’t see the revenge in his eyes, though. Doesn’t see the rage burning deep.

Rage so pure and all encompassing, that he knows it’ll explode.

It’s just a matter of time.

What Foster doesn’t realize, though, is that the love that Blake has for him is enough to fight his demons, one kiss at a time.

Foster never stood a chance.

“I cannot believe you’re making me do this, Uncle Darren. This is Missy’s job. Seriously, I’m going to give every single one of your SWAT team food poisoning, and then where would you be?” that voice said.

The voice that gave me an instant hard on.

The voice that’d been teasing me for weeks over the airwaves.

The voice that I wanted screaming my name with me pounding her to oblivion.

“Missy gave you very detailed instructions. All you have to do is right here,” Chief Rhodes said to Blake.

I’m glad that I never did anything with her…or to her, that would’ve brought his wrath down on my back.

It was a good thing to know. Considering it’d been in all my intentions to seduce her…and possibly keep her.

“Alright, I’ve got the biggest pot I could find, boiling with water. Now what?” she asked, running her finger over a piece of paper at her side.

I glanced at Chief Rhodes and nearly laughed when I saw him flipping through what looked like a Guns & Ammo Magazine.

He wasn’t even paying the least bit of attention to her.

Leaning against the door jam, I continued to watch as she brought out a large paper bag that had ‘Fisherman’s Cove’ on the side.

Peeking into the bag, she squeaked and stepped back, letting the bag drop to the floor.

“Oh, my God! They’re all over the floor, Uncle Darren!” Blake squealed.

The Chief didn’t even look up from his magazine.

“Pick them up,” he said distractedly.

The lobsters, all fifteen of them, started crawling around the kitchen floor.

“Uncle Darren, you big bastard,” Blake hissed.

The Chief smiled. “Did you read this article yet?”

“Which one? The one on the fifty caliber AR-15?” Blake gasped, stepping to the side of a crawling crustacean.

“That one. Do you see how far the shot knocks him back?” the Chief laughed.

“About as far as I’m going to knock you if you don’t fucking help me,” she growled, dancing on the tips of her toes and shaking her head.

I scanned her body, taking in everything in a glance.

Her hair was up in messy bun on top of her head, stray hairs falling out every which way.

She was wearing blue jean shorts that just barely covered her ass, and a white tank top that said, ‘I make dirt look sexy.’

Her legs were long and toned.

They were deeply tanned, but you could tell that they were tan from being outside, and not a tanning bed.

She had a suntan line at her ankles from what looked like socks and shoes.

Her toes were painted a lime green, and she was wearing a pinky toe ring.

The whole outfit was outrageous, but it fit Blake’s personality perfectly.

“Need help?” I rumbled from the doorway.

The Chief didn’t look up, but Blake did.

And she looked stunned.

“What are you doing here so early? Dinner’s not ready yet,” she snapped.

I held my hands up.

“I’m here because I’m supposed to drop these off,” I said, waving a stack of folders in her direction.

My eyes roamed the front of her, zeroing in on the way her pink and white bra straps showed from under her tank.

She narrowed her eyes, and effectively dismissed me by turning her back on me.

I guessed, though, that it was because she was hiding the way her nipples pebbled in reaction to my gaze.

Well, I’ll take that as she was happy to see me.

The Chief finally stood and walked over to me, stepping over a lobster as he went. “You have one escaping into the kitchen,” he said on his way out.

I followed him, smiling at the curse she tossed at his back.

“You’re mean,” I laughed.

The Chief looked over at me and winked. “She needs to be challenged sometimes. And she’s stubborn as hell. If I hadn’t given her something to do, she’d just be worrying.”

Genre: Adult, Science Fiction, Thriller
Release Date: March 19, 2015

***On Sale for 99cents August 31-September 4***

Summary:
The hungry ones want in…..

It’s 9012, and inside the life-sustaining bio-dome, human men have been extinct for thousands of years. The women have replaced them with sexy robotic male companions, programmed to cook, clean, and satisfy their owners’ most intimate personal requirements.

But there are more creatures left alive outside than anyone ever thought possible.
And some of them want to come in.

A long workbench dominated the low-ceilinged area, and Amy was leaning over it, melting the serial number off a shoulder blade.
"Oh hell," said Tina, "How are you going to get the skin back on that?"
Amy lifted her visor. "There's a patch of skin growing in that tank over there." She nodded toward the corner. "It should take. He's not for show anyway, he's being sold to one of the restaurants."
Tina nodded. The restaurants were usually staffed with underground-market bots. While a handsome Hypton served the main course, it was often prepared behind the scenes by a stripped-down man-bot who'd had his face removed and his numbers melted away to avoid identification.
"I saw something interesting today," said Tina.
"Mmm?" Tina watched as Amy smoothed the melted area where the serial number had been. Serial chips on the newer Hyptons were holographically embedded, and it wouldn't be long before they'd have to come up with new procedures for erasing them.
"A really different bot. Short. Hairy."
     "A Hypton?"
"I'm thinking no. Maybe he's an antique?"
     "Can you get him?"
     "He belongs to a friend."
"No, then." Amy had a rule about not stealing from people you knew.
"She might sell him. For less than he's worth, I mean. She doesn't like him."
"Find out what he is first. I'll take him if there's a profit in it. I do have some clients with unusual tastes."
     "I think he's cute."
     "Really?"
"Yeah. I mean, he's not hideous or anything. He's just not perfect."
Amy put down the tool she'd been using to smooth out the metal, and pulled an envelope from the pocket of her apron. "Now I'm really curious."
Tina reached out and took the envelope. "She's taking him to the dealership tomorrow. I'm meeting her there. If I can get him alone, I'll try to scan him."
"Good. Pay attention to any new security features they mention. And try to get a tour of the assembly area."
Tina stuffed the envelope down into her boot and let herself out. She didn't need to count it; Amy always paid what they'd agreed on.
She headed home to start going through her clothes. She needed to find something decent to wear to Hypton, Inc. with Lyssa tomorrow.
She needed to look like she belonged there.

Sinfully Ever After #3
Summary:

Unwilling to serve as a guinea pig for the government any longer, Drake has only one thing on his mind … his beautiful wife, but instead finds himself involved in a war of the supernatural kind. The pressure mounts when Drake uncovers that a stranger from Sienna’s past is responsible for the rash of supernatural crimes plaguing an underwater city.

After beating an evil sorcerer at his own game, Sienna Devilin awaits her husband’s return from Germany. Once Drake Devilin arrives, Sienna can tell something is different about the captain. Moody and temperamental, Sienna doesn’t know what to think when he turns down a fight to help with a fresh crop of engineered monsters.

With World War II in full swing, Drake is unable to talk his wife out of their new obligation. Sienna is more determined than ever to fight off demons from her past and monsters in their not too distant future.

Sinfully Ever After #3
Light snow fell to the earth. The flakes melted nearly as quickly as they landed. Drake welcomed the fresh air.
Yards from the house he tracked his wife’s scent near the horse’s paddock. Sienna stood under the full moon in front of the big animals that grazed by the fence. He worked his way past the medical tents to join her. Pretty and peaceful, it was no wonder she came to the pasture since dinner had been a complete and utter disaster.
Murphy and Barker joined them for a marvelous evening—along with their wives—for screaming, cursing, and his personal favorite…crying. Murphy’s spouse, Evie, called him every name and then some, while Alex, Barker’s wife, sat in her seat softly sobbing. Somewhere before dessert but after dinner Sienna snuck off.
“Dear wife,” he whispered in her ear before he placed his coat over her shoulders. “I will extend to you my sincerest apologies for not being forthright, but you must promise to never make me sit through anything similar to that again.” Confident he wouldn’t be turned into a toad when she gifted him with a laugh he pulled her back into his chest.
     “They’re worried about their men.”
“I gave them a choice this afternoon.” Drake buried his nose into the careless curls constructed on top of her head. “It is out of my hands,” he murmured, submerging himself in her sweet scent.
“Evie and Alex are not angry at you per se. They’re mad at the amount of loyalty their husbands display toward you and their country.”
“I am not the villain here.” He sighed. “Am I yours?”
     Sienna turned in his arms.
Slow drifting snow caught on her long eyelashes, illuminating her beautiful face. He captured her lips, and attacked her sweet mouth. Only for a moment, he thought to himself before he released her.
“Why did you stop, Captain?” She continued to tempt him with tiny kisses to the underside of his chin. “Afraid you’ll lose your mind?” The sum of her powers were too great for one person alone. Extreme anger or sadness could send her into a downward spiral. It had taken Sienna years to learn how to control the balance of her emotions. Otherwise, the sanctity of her sanity would be put into question. Drake remembered all too well the time she nearly went mad.
“I was falling in love with you,” she replied to the thoughts in his head.
Drake felt that she was wrong and it was the other way around. His raw need for his wife almost certainly sent her over the edge. Every time he got too close another spark of magic would course through his veins. He couldn’t imagine what a huge wave of her power would do to him.
“Tell me, Captain, are you afraid of the devil in me or is it the devil in you?” Sienna rose on the tips of her toes to kiss the side of his mouth. Weeks had gone by where he didn’t think he would ever see her again. Drake felt the soft palm of her hand caress his face, while she sweetly nipped at his neck. Regardless of his wants or needs, he understood what was at stake for the both of them.

My Obsession with Horror
What is it about our culture that makes us want to be scared, i.e. roller coasters, haunted house, and bungee jumping? Okay, not everyone jumps off a cliff, but I’m almost positive horror books simulate that creepy, free falling feeling. My love of horror books began around junior high. My dad always had a book around, and since I wasn’t the best at returning stuff back to the book mobile, I was forced to read his library of weirdness.

Curling up with a horror book on a cool fall night with the fire burning and a cup of hot chocolate promotes its own kind of high. The solitaire scare is even better than the one at the movies; the dreaded group audience where everyone waits for the person next to them to flinch is just not the same. A creaky wood board here, or a slammed door there isn’t half as scary as black words on white paper. If 357 pages of plotting and planning forces the reader to turn on the night light then the author has succeeded.

Skeleton Crew was my first Stephen King book. Gramma was the story that stuck with me. Short stories were a great introduction to the king of horror. This book was a gateway drug to bigger and better scares. I tackled Carrie, Dead Zone, and Salem’s Lot in a quick and fast order. Next was Dean R. Koontz, a stellar horror writer in his own right. Koontz takes a different approach to the world of thrills.

Both authors don’t necessarily use the fall back monster to scare the crap out of their audience. The true masters of horror prey on the psychology of their reader’s mind. A small, ordinary situation can turn people into heroes, which forced me to ask: What would you do? In the first few moments when the protagonist isn’t sure what’s going on, the reader has already decided whether they would stay or go. Most people would pack up and hit the road, never to see that house or town again. The first sign of any strange plot that could possibly change their world would make the reader pound pavement. But what if the plot has to do with harm to a loved one, or better yet the world? Well then, dammit, the reader will have to decide to stay and kill the freakin’ monster or possibly die … decisions, decisions.
