Blogger Review: Join the Club by Charlie Cochet

Summary:
When the cards are stacked against you, the Kings will even the odds.

Eduardo “Lucky” Morales is a fighter, from his childhood days in Cuba to his time as a Special Forces Green Beret. Scarred by the wars of his past, Lucky has learned nothing lasts forever. Guarding his heart is second nature, and getting emotionally involved is not an option. As co-owner of Four Kings Security, Lucky works hard alongside his former brothers-in-arms and fellow Kings, but he also plays hard. Flirting with sexy Texas cowboy and detective, Mason Cooper, is too much fun to resist, until Mason turns the tables on him.

Mason Cooper may not be a soldier, but he’s fought his share of battles as an openly gay cop and now a detective for Major Crimes. Mason has no idea when things changed between him and Lucky, but the gorgeous, fiery Cuban has turned his world upside down. When a mistake leads to his suspension from the force, Mason turns to the least likely person for help: Ward Kingston.

Determined to keep Mason at arms’ length, Lucky is surprised to find the man at Four Kings Security. The Florida nights might be getting cooler, but the heat between Lucky and Mason burns hotter with every passing moment. Working private security can be dangerous and unpredictable, but so can falling in love.

Fighting and flirting are second nature for Four Kings Security co-owner Lucky Morales, especially when it comes to Detective Mason Cooper and Mason knows how to fight and flirt with the best of them.  When Mason is suspended he goes to Ward Kingston.  Will Lucky and Mason be able to work together without crossing that fighting/flirting line or will their hearts be too much for them to neglect?

I always suspected Lucky and Mason's journey would make for an interesting read but Charlie Cochet has once again far surpassed anything I was expecting.  The Cuban fire of Lucky and the Texas heat of Mason make for an explosive combination that will keep you on your toes from beginning to end.  Are they my favorite pairing in the Four Kings series? No, I don't think anyone will beat Ace and Colton from book one, Love in Spades but that probably has more to do with me because I always tend to fall deeper for the first couple in a multi-couple series.

One thing(or I should say "another" thing because lets face it, Lucky and Mason's chemistry is front and foremost in this entry) I found interesting was that instead of an ongoing assignment that was at the forefront we get to see a bit of a sampling of the kind of cases the Kings Security deals with in Join the Club.  Charlie Cochet brings to the table an entertaining blend of romance, action, lust, technology, heat, humor, friendship, and did I mention the explosive WOW-factor?  You won't be disappointed!

As usual, one final note: I highly recommend reading Four Kings Security in order, no it isn't necessary but the comraderie, friendships, chemistry between the Kings, their partners, and a few others just mesh better when you start with Love in Spades.  By no means will you be lost but in my personal opinion "everything just flows" better in order.

RATING:

This was going to be a long night. Lucky felt it in his bones.

Once they were in downtown Jacksonville, Lucky pulled the truck into the parking lot of the bank across the street from the skyscraper they’d be watching. Jack had acquired the perfect spot near the lot entrance in case they had to move quickly, and a small team of security agents were parked in the Central Station parking lot, waiting for word from Lucky. With the engine turned off, Lucky unbuckled his seat belt and climbed out of his seat at the time Mason did. Lucky reeled back in an effort not to bump into him, the back of his knees hitting the seat. He flailed, throwing an arm out, but he needn’t have worried. Mason wrapped an arm around his waist and caught him, bringing him up against his hard body.

“Easy there, darlin’,” Mason murmured quietly, their lips only inches apart. “Don’t want you hurting yourself.”

Lucky swallowed hard. He felt Mason’s warm breath against his skin. “You’re stepping on my shoe.”

Mason frowned. “You’re worried about your shoe?”

“These boots are Guiseppe Zanotti.”

“Am I supposed to know what that means?” Mason asked, releasing Lucky.

“It means they cost almost a thousand dollars.”

Mason stared at him. “Why the hell are you wearin’ thousand-dollar boots to work surveillance? You know there are kids out there starvin’?”

“Yes, I know,” Lucky spat, pushing Mason away from him. “I was one of them. Now excuse me. We have work to do.”

At least Mason had the decency to look mortified.

“Shit, Lucky, I’m sorry. I didn’t—”

“Forget it,” Lucky muttered, taking a seat behind the console to log into the security system. “I don’t need to explain myself to you. Just sit down and pay attention.”

Mason took a seat beside him, his expression solemn. Thankfully, he didn’t speak. Lucky didn’t need his apologies or his permission. In Cuba he’d spent most of his time barefoot because the shoes given to him were either beyond salvation or he grew out of them so quickly they hurt his feet to the point he couldn’t walk. Now he could afford all the shoes he wanted, and if he wanted to spend money on designer shoes, no one had the right to make him feel like shit for it. He wasn’t stupid. His savings account was solid, and his retirement account was one of the first things he’d set up when he got his first job. He spent a lot of money, but he also saved money because he knew what it was like to have nothing. He was never going back to that again. Never.

Release Blitz: I Wished for You by Colette Davison

Title: I Wished for You

Genre: M/M/M Romance
Release Date: January 22, 2019
Cover Design: Designs by Dana

Summary:
Three wishes.
Seb wants to be happy.
Matt wants to find ‘the one.’
Connor wants them.

Two drunken kisses.
Seb didn’t plan to kiss Matt and Connor, but he doesn’t regret it, even if it has changed their friendship forever.

Matt has never considered dating a man before, let alone two. Despite his confusion, being with Seb and Connor feels right.

One uncertain future.
Connor’s potential fate has stopped him living and loving. Can he face his fears to be with the men he loves?

Matt adjusted his jogging bottoms and leaned back against the sofa. The next words popped out of his mouth unfiltered. "I could do with a blow job."

Seb snorted out a loud laugh. "Too much information." He patted Matt's shoulder. "But hey, if you're desperate, I don't mind obliging." Seb's laughter trailed off into a nervous chuckle. "Umm… that was a joke."

“Yeah, yeah, of course." Matt couldn't look at Seb. A week ago, he'd have taken a comment like that and ribbed his friend with it mercilessly. Now, he wasn't sure at all that it had been meant in jest. He wasn't even sure that he wanted it to be a joke. He rubbed his jaw, clearing his throat again. "What would you do if I said yes?”

Seb twisted on the sofa so he was facing Matt. "You're not going to say yes."

"What if I did?" Matt kept his stare on the ceiling, but he was still able to see Seb shrug out of the corner of his eye.

“I'd give you one.”

Seb's reply was so matter-of-fact that it sent a chill running up Matt's spine. It did nothing to ease the pressure in his cock. If anything, blood pumped to it faster.

"Really?" Matt asked. Why the hell was he still talking? It was like he was engaged in a game of chicken with Seb, trying to see which one of them would back down first. He had no idea how far his head, or his cock, was willing to take it.

“Sure, why not? It's just a blow job, right? It wouldn't mean anything.”

"But we're friends," Matt stuttered.

"Wouldn't be the first time I've sucked off a friend."

Author Bio:
Colette’s personal love story began at university, where she met her future husband. An evening of flirting, in the shadow of Lancaster castle, eventually led to a fairytale wedding.
