Summary:

Holeshot #2.5
Did jumping into marriage too fast put the brakes on their future?

The holiday season has arrived. It’s their first Christmas as a married couple, and newlyweds Davey and Tyler are experiencing more than a few relationship pains. They need to find a new racer for the Apex team, and jealousy over the new addition sparks between them.

They’ve come such a long way, but their relationship progressed faster than souped up dirt bikes. Was it too fast?

The two men are forced to slow down and reexamine their love and what they want for the future because Christmas isn’t all racetracks and dirt bikes.

Holeshot Christmas is third in the series but can be read as a standalone. Also check out how Davey and Tyler get together in The Holeshot!

I've done something I rarely do in the world of fiction and that is to read a Christmas novella in the middle of the series.  I had previously read book 3, Bike Business, but I have yet to go back and catch the first two.  Lynn Michaels' Holeshot series is a standalone series where each entry features a different couple EXCEPT for this holiday novella, Tyler and Davey were the featured couple in book 1 Holeshot.

Was I lost?  No.  However, I did have a few moments where I feel I would have appreciated the chemistry between Tyler and Davey even more had I read the beginnings of their relationship.  But lost? Not at all.

Holeshot Christmas is a lovely holiday novella giving us a window to view a little bit of the characters' HEA(or is it? No spoilers for youπŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰) and the fact that it was set during the holidays is just icing on the cake.  There is heat, humor, and heart the 3 H's that can make or break or story for me, well this was definitely not broken.  Mix in a well balanced dramatic element and you have a holiday romance that will be sure to put a smile on your face.  What more could a reader ask for?

One last note: Going back to my reading out of order stated earlier, sometimes knowing where a couple is at can ruin my desire to read their beginnings, kind of like seeing the end of a movie and because it's spoiled you don't need to see the beginning.  Well, Holiday Christmas definitely did not "spoil" or "ruin" my desire to go back to the beginning but I also can't lie, it may be a while before doing so giving the waters in my brain to muddy but I will most certainly be going back in, it's already on my Kindle.

Tyler couldn’t keep the fifty-mile-wide grin off of his face as he shouldered through the door of the hotel room. He dropped his duffle bag on the bed, practically bouncing up and down. Christmas was only a few days away, but before he could celebrate with his awesome husband, Davey, they were in Las Vegas hunting down Rico Dominichi. Tyler clapped his hands and spun to face Davey as he followed Tyler into the room. “This is so freakin’ rad!”

“I swear someone would think you were like five years old, Ty.”

“Well?” Tyler held his hands up. “I’m excited.”

Davey chuckled with amusement and dropped his bag on the floor. “Obviously.”

“Do you think we’ll find him? Think he’ll be there?”

“Rico? Who knows? But Angel swears Danny knows what he’s talking about.”

Angel had contacts from her days as a freelance photographer, and Danny was one of them. He was a rough looking dude of an undetermined age who often took pictures at street races and local tracks across the country. Things other people missed. Tyler had seen some of his shots of Rico, so he was confident that he had some good info. “Well, the race is tomorrow, so...”

“What?” Davey crossed his arms over his chest. “Wanna go downstairs?”

“Yes! Let’s go, let’s go!” Tyler jumped at Davey. He opened his arms and grabbed Tyler, pulling him in close. “I want to play the slots.” He stretched up on his toes and kissed Davey, quickly. Davey chuckled again. “You crack me up. Come on.”

Davey tucked one of the key cards in his back pocket and headed for the door. Tyler followed right behind him. This trip was going to be tons of fun. They had some work to do, too, but that kind of work was always just as exhilarating as their play.

Hours later, a sleepy Tyler followed Davey back into their hotel room. He’d played the slot machines and walked around the floor of the casino for hours. He watched Davey play some blackjack and swore it was like something out of the movies. Davey won a few hands but seemed to break even overall. Tyler, on the other hand, scored pretty big. He’d spent a couple hundred bucks before he’d hit a jackpot, and it paid back a couple thousand dollars. That’s when he stopped playing. Always quit when you’re ahead.

As soon as the hotel door closed behind him, Tyler stripped out of his shirt and pants, dropping them on the floor. He crawled across the bed. His insides were all warm and fuzzy with just a slight buzz from the fancy drinks he’d ordered at the bar.

Davey put his wallet and keys on the dresser. “You seem like you had fun tonight.”

“Mmm... I did. Now I’m tired.”

Davey stalked across the room and crawled up on the bed. “Hope not too tired.”

“Never too tired for you.”

“That’s good.” Davey rubbed his nose across Tyler’s cock, snug in his briefs and getting tighter by the second. “Because. I really, really, really want you right now, Ty.”

“Yes...” Tyler closed his eyes and absorbed the sensations of Davey’s fingers skating across his hip. He pulled Tyler’s briefs down slowly, nuzzling against Tyler’s skin as he worked his way down. He gave open-mouthed kisses to his inner thigh and brushed his knuckles gently over Tyler’s balls.

“I kind of like you all blissed out like this, Tyler.” Davey chuckled, and the briefs disappeared completely. “For once, I don’t have to chase after you.”

“You love chasing me.” Tyler opened one eye to glare at Davey, playfully, who had removed his own shirt and pants and knelt in front of Tyler. He lowered himself down, staring at Tyler’s crotch.

“I like catching you.” He sucked Tyler’s cock into his mouth with a sigh that morphed into a moan and Tyler echoed the sound.

“Like being caught,” he mumbled, enjoying the feel of Davey’s tongue on his cock, all wet and hot. His mouth sucking at him. “Feels so good, Davey.” He reached out and found Davey’s dark hair and ran his fingers through it, loving the silky feel. Davey had let it grow out a little longer than usual since he’d stopped competing, and Tyler thought it looked sexier than ever.

Davey’s sucking increased, and Tyler tightened his grip in Davey’s hair. Davey’s response was a low groan before his fingers started playing over Tyler’s balls, making them pull up tight.

“Yes...” Tingles through his dick had him bucking his hips, chasing his orgasm. “Now...like that...yes.” Then, his words became unintelligent as he shot out hard into Davey’s mouth. He saw stars, thinking about his cum on Davey’s tongue.

Then he slept.
