Swept Away by J Haymore

Title: Swept Away
Author: J. Haymore
Publication date: October 20th 2014
Genres: New Adult, Romance, Suspense

Summary:
He is everywhere. He surrounds me, permeates the air, wends his way under my skin. I can’t escape his strength, his intensity, his presence.

I’m trapped.

There’s nowhere to run.

Nowhere to hide.

But even if I could escape…would I be strong enough to leave?

I needed something—something big—to get myself out of the rut I’d fallen into after the car accident that killed my sister. This sailing trip was meant only to mark a new chapter in my life. Until Ethan Williams stepped on board.

Ethan radiated confidence. His darkly handsome good looks and ocean-blue eyes mesmerized me. But it was the way he looked at me that drew me in. He wasn’t looking at my past or at my scars, but the real me behind all that baggage I was trying so hard to leave behind.

But Ethan had secrets—dark, dangerous secrets. I was trapped in the middle of the ocean in a tangle of lies, sex, and violence. The problem was, I was happy to be trapped forever…if it meant I could have him.

***Warning: Swept Away is a 4-part serial. This story is messy and twisted and very, very sexy. It is not for people under 18.***

A shuffling movement comes from the direction of the navigation area. It’s Ethan, of course. Without trying to—without wanting to—I track his every movement whenever he’s near.
The trampoline grows taut beneath me as he steps on it. He sits beside me and stares up at the sky for a moment. Just having him this close washes heat over my skin.
He’s spoken to me over the past few days, of course. It’s unavoidable. He’s put on the mask of the unflinchingly polite gentleman again. It’s no wonder he’s good in business. He can be hard, terse, and commanding, but he can also be gracious and charming.
He turns to me and asks quietly, “Are you okay?”
This is the most personal question he’s asked me in days.
I give him a tight smile. “I’ve been through worse.”
“Yeah.” There’s a gruff edge of emotion in his voice.
He doesn’t know the half of it. I told him about my parents, but not about Em and the accident and the cause of my limp. He doesn’t know that I was almost killed in a convenience-store shooting, and that the only reason I’m lying here right now is because of a Good Samaritan who took a bullet for me.
Ethan lies beside me, stretching his tall form out next to mine. He’s large, and his weight makes the trampoline dip. My muscles tighten so my body doesn’t roll toward him. “Look at the stars,” he murmurs.
     “I know.”
“I never thought I’d find it so peaceful out here.”
“What did you think sailing across the ocean would be like?”
“Dangerous,” he answers. “Uncomfortable. Miserable, actually.”
I turn to him, raising a brow. “Really?”
     He nods.
“Then why did you come? I know you said it was something you needed to do. But if you thought it would be dangerous, uncomfortable, and miserable, then why?”
He laughs quietly, but he doesn’t answer.
Fine. By now I know how private he is.
I stare at the stars brightening the sky. Below us, the Temptation dips and rolls. All is silent except for the gentle slosh of water against the hull.
“Tara,” he murmurs. His tone draws my gaze. He turns fully onto his side, propping his head up on his hand as he watches me.
     “Yes?”
“Have you ever been on a runaway train?”
     I give a soft snort.
“That’s what I feel like I’m on right now.”
My lips twitch up, but they don’t quite make it to a smile. “Then put on the brakes, and you’ll stop moving before you crash.”
     “It’s not that easy.”
     “Why not?”
“Because… I’ve tried to stop it since I… Since the first moment I saw you on that ramp and every day since then. But it isn’t going to work. I’ve tried, and... And I can’t.” He swallows hard, but his gaze doesn’t leave mine, not for a second.
My heart starts to pound. Emotions grab at me, excitement and fear and hope, along with a sharp edge of anger. “You’ve been doing a fine job of it for the past few days.”
He reaches out and touches my cheek. It’s just the gentlest touch, but it sends a bolt of electricity through me. “No. I’ve been doing a shit job of it. I’m good at pretending, but if you knew what was going on in my head—” He breaks off abruptly. After a quiet moment, he adds, “I can’t stop it. I can’t ignore it. Trying to is only going to make me crazy. So I’m done trying.”

Author Interview:
1. In three words, how would you describe Swept Away?
Suspenseful, erotic, romantic

2. If you could be any character from Swept Away, who would you be and why?
I think I’d be Kyle, Tara’s best friend. He goes through a lot in this book, but there’s a lightness and a playfulness in him that I’d really like to have!

3. Do you ever picture particular actors or actresses as you write your characters?
I very rarely do this. The characters turn into flesh and blood in my mind (as I hope they do in the readers’ minds) and I always have a very difficult time when people ask me to cast my books, because I can never find the actors and actresses who exactly fit the image in my head!

4. Do you have any rituals that help you get in the mood to sit down and write?
There are a few things that help me to get in the mood:
Having my headphones & my long, eclectic playlist ready to go on my phone
Having a comfortable chair
Being away from my kids (i.e. no distractions!)
Having a hot, tall cup of coffee or tea nearby

5. Tell us some special research you did for this book.
I actually did a lot of research for Swept Away. Here is a sampling of things I Googled (this is just a few of the MANY):
“How to sail from California to Hawaii”
“What’s it like to drown?”
“Private jet interiors”
“Sociopathic behavior”
“Firsthand accounts of hypothermia”
“Best seafood restaurant in Honolulu”
“What’s it like to be high on MDMA?”
“Most expensive sports cars”

6. What’s next for you?
I also write historicals as Jennifer Haymore, so I have a Highlander clamoring to get onto the pages next. Then... I think I’ll probably be writing Kyle’s story. After all he’s been through, he deserves his happily ever after, I think!

7. What would you say are the defining characteristic of your novels?
All my novels have a touch of intrigue and suspense, and usually there’s a twist people don’t expect. I haven’t been able to pinpoint exactly why, but a lot of reviewers call my books “different”—in a good way, I hope!
I also always have protective heroes. There’s just something about a hero that will do anything to protect his heroine that gets me every single time.

8. What traits are most important in a romance heroine?
Inner strength, intelligence, and a strong spirit.

9. What are the 5 best things about being a writer?
(5) Working in PJs
(4) Making my own hours
(3) Being able to travel to amazing places in the name of research
(2) The feeling of writing “the end”
(1) Being able to escape into my characters’ worlds for hours at a time

10. If you were a heroine in a book, your character would be:
(a)the girl next door
(b)the damsel in distress
(c)kick-butt take charge heroine
(d)the aloof ice queen
I’d like to be them all! But I’d probably be (a) the girl next door...boring, I know!

11. How do you conquer writer’s block?
I just write through it. I think to myself, “You’re writing crap. It makes no sense. It’s horrible. But you’re writing it, and you’re not going to stop.” Invariably, I read it later on and always find there’s something I can work with.

Summary:
The only thing keeping Ex-Marine Drake from drinking himself into an early grave is his love of leather, horsepower, and his motorcycle club. Battling to adapt to a world where he isn’t blowing everything up, he roams the highways to keep his mind off his past. But after a mission to kidnap the curvy, tattooed goddess, Delta, he finds avoiding the bottle a little easier. Especially since he can only dream of finding solace against her silky body.
Delta would do anything to escape a life where pain and fear control her. She’s lived as a slave and outsider since she could walk. When a scary biker clan storms into her life and introduces her to her long-lost sister, she’s shocked to find warmth and comfort. While Delta knows better than to hope for a life she can’t have, Drake refuses to let her slip back into the hell she knows.
Plunged into a world of gambling, guns, and drugs isn’t her idea of paradise, but hunky Drake makes her pulse pound. Is it too much to believe that Drake can save her from her torment? And what can she do about extinguishing that burning, haunted look in his eyes?

Jamison brought his fist down on the table. “You couldn’t have mentioned that you stormed into the Raiders club and took Delta?”
Drake stared at his vice prez. He liked Jamison—trusted him. Only Jamison knew how deep Drake had sunk after his tours of duty or how much alcohol he’d consumed. The few who knew about Drake’s leg thought he’d lost it in war, but the truth was, he’d lost it to idiocy.
Jamison was a fool if he believed they hadn’t used force to get Delta. “Did you think we’d just parley with the enemy and they’d gladly hand over their woman?”
Jamison raked his fingers through his hair, leaving tracks. His face was tense. “The MC rules are full disclosure. You fucking tell me everything that happens out there.” He pointed at the door and the world beyond. “I don’t care if it’s a drug run or you shoot up a club to get back Ever’s sister.”
“No one fired a shot,” Pax said.
“Then how the fuck did you take Delta by force?” Jamison looked at each of them, probably looking for split lips or knuckles, evidence of a fistfight.
     “Drake had a bomb.”
Jamison met Drake’s gaze. He knew what Drake had done in the Marines. What he’d done for his country. He blew shit up, but he’d lost his leg from driving drunk.
“Okay.” Jamison’s eyelid twitched. “From now on, the club needs to know this shit. Got it?”
“Yeah.” Drake wasn’t concerned with the club at this moment. When the asshole Raiders’ prez had moved, Delta had folded up. An abused woman if Drake had ever seen one.
He clenched his teeth. “If this is club business, what the fuck are we going to do to get her back?”
Jamison rested his hands on the table. Strother might be president, but they’d all followed Jamison while Strother took care of his own shit. First he’d lost his son to drugs then his wife had gone crazy with grief.
“She wasn’t trying to escape the Raiders in the first place,” Jamison said.
Drake didn’t agree, but he remained silent.
“She has a right to return with them.”
Silent—until now. “Do you think for a minute they’ll let her come visit her sister?” He had opinions about how free Delta was to come and go anyway. Now they’d lock the fortress around her.
Jamison shook his head. “No, they won’t. But do we start another war?”
The Hell’s Sons had just battled the local charter of the Raiders in order to get Ever back. Just days ago some of their men had fallen. They’d barely gotten them buried, and now they were talking about another war.
     “I’ll go alone.”
Everyone stilled. In the other room, Ever’s sobs sounded, followed by Ace’s comforting tone. Jamison clenched his fists. They were all protective of Ever, and that had extended to Delta for the time she was here. Both women had something that reached into a man’s chest and tugged at his heart.

Dark, Erotic Paranormal Romance with BDSM Elements…

The Darkest Faerie Tales

There are two sides of me. One is good. The other is bad. Sure, everyone has bad and good in them, but my two halves are constantly at war with each other—I’m either extremely virtuous or terribly wicked—there is no in between.

In ancient Gaelic myth, the gods and goddesses were sent to earth, becoming known as the Tuatha DΓ©, God’s tribe in the form of a supernatural race. For centuries, as immortals, they ruled on the earth above humans. Then the Great Atonement happened. As people of the mound, they were stripped of the Tuatha DΓ© title and turned into Aos sΓ. They became nothing more than magickal human beings who happened to live a little longer than normal mortals.

The Aos sΓ are divided into two sects…Seelie or Unseelie. Dualities of light and dark instilled at birth. Though they lived in a semblance of peace, everything changed right before I was born and the factions turned against one another.

I’m half Seelie and half Unseelie, the only mixed breed ever to exist. My parents went to great lengths to hide my true identity during the wars.

I was supposed to live a normal life, the whole white picket fence and everything, but it’s all changing now. The Unseelies seek to take down the Seelies and restore themselves into power, back to the way things were on the magickal island of Sitnalta, before the Great Atonement. However, the Seelies only want to pursue balance, harmony, in all things.

And me? I’m stuck in the middle, torn between two worlds.

This is not a faerie tale.

Divisa Series #4: Loving Angel by JL Weil

Title: Loving Angel
Author: J.L. Weil
Series: Divisa #4
Publication date: October 2nd 2014
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

Summary:
Loving Angel isn’t easy. Actually, it’s downright exhausting, but somehow she weaseled her way into my life. She has become my everything—my reason for existing—my reason for breathing. I love the ever-loving crap out of Angel Eyes. There is nothing I wouldn’t endure for her—even college.

College. Ugh.

I hope the frat boys, the jocks, and the nerds are prepared for what is about to embark on their school this fall. Half-demons. Hunters. And um, the Keystone? Yeah, that is going to take getting used to.

We aren’t exactly your average freshman. And somehow I find myself stuck with a bunch of troublesome females to look after. Angel. Emma. Lexi. Pretty sure I got the raw end of the stick.

But that isn’t the worst of it. There is someone lurking in the shadows—spying and stalking my girlfriend. He is a dead man. How many people am I going to have to kill for this girl? A better question would be how many people wouldn’t I kill for her?

As many as it took.

Angel is about to experience betrayal of the worst kind. And this time, it’s not entirely my fault—shocker.

Don't forget to check out all of the entries in J.L. Weil’s The Divisa Series:  Losing Emma #.5, Saving Angel #1, Hunting Angel #2, Breaking Emma #2.5, and Chasing Angel #3

For anyone who thought love was easy, well, I’d say they haven’t met Angel.
Loving Angel…it’s not easy. Actually, it’s downright exhausting.
I’d never met a single person who attracted as much trouble as she did. It was as if she oozed danger-stalk-me nectar. What was a guy to do?
Okay. I’ll admit that because of me and what I am, I had put her smack dab in the middle of a demon war, but I swear she does a bang-up job of getting herself in all kinds of gooey situations on her own.
How many people would I have to kill for this girl? Simple. As many as it took. In all honesty, a better question would be: How many people wouldn’t I kill for her?
Angel was my every thing—my reason for existing—my reason for breathing. I loved the ever-loving crap out of Angel Eyes.
Gawd. I think I might have vomited a little in my mouth.
Mushy thoughts weren’t my forte. Well, before Angel they weren’t. Not a single romantic thought had swirled in my brain. I wasn’t exactly an easy person—scratch that, half-demon to love, but somehow Angel was able to see past my rocky and rough exterior.
     God bless her.
Being a badass meant I was an asshole more times than not. I had a reputation to live up to, and everything you might have heard…it’s all a hundred percent true.
In case you’ve been living in a cave, the name’s Chase Winters, and I’m not your average incoming college freshman. Nope. I’m half demon.
It’s true. My so-called father is a demon with a mega power trip. I might be only part human, but my family is just as screwed up as the next.
That being said, I finally thought it was time you heard the story from my side. Lord knows Angel fabricates everything.
For once, it was not entirely my fault that Angel’s life was at stake.
     What a mind-blowing concept.

Author Interview:
When did you start writing?
Oh gosh, that is like asking my age. I started writing in junior high, but nothing serious, just fun short stories here and there. It wasn’t until I was in my twenties that I sat down and began my first novel. My kids were older and I needed a hobby. That hobby turned into late nights at the computer, because I couldn’t get the characters out of my head. I knew from the moment I made the decision, I wanted to write Teen Romance.

What is your favorite writing style?
I am not an outline or a plotter. Plotting makes my eyes go cross. I do take a lot notes. A lot. Usually I have a general idea in my head of characters, settings, and motives. Then I let the story build as I write. Often I write the ending first, so that I have a goal to aim toward.
My favorite writing style is first person. I think my writing style is more of everyday talk. It is not filled with prose. I have a simpler writing style. It is what works for me.

What’s the best thing about writing?
The best thing about writing is the satisfaction when you finish a book and write those two words. The End. I also love getting emails and letters from readers who have read my books. It is my motivation to keep writing.

What do you do when you’re not writing?
I spend time with my family, play video games, and am constantly thinking about my new characters and what kind of paranormal power/gift I could give them.

Do you like reading?
I love, love reading and miss it tremendously, because when I’m drafting, writing, or editing, I never have time to read. You should see my TBR list… *sigh*

Author Bio:
Award-winning and Bestselling author J.L. Weil writes Teen & New Adult Paranormal Romances about spunky, smart mouth girls who always wind up in dire situations. For every sassy girl, there is an equally mouthwatering, overprotective guy. Of course there is lots of kissing. And stuff.

Most of her books are for ages 16+. They usually have what she considers the good stuff - sexual content (oh yeah) and swearing. You have been warned ;)

Shrapnel's Kiss by Amy Rachiele

Title: Shrapnel’s Kiss
Author: Amy Rachiele
Release Day: November 4, 2014
Genre: Military Romance
Summary:
Its love and war!
If I don't tell the story now, no one else will be able to tell it for us.  Some people believe in fate, that no matter where you are in the world your soul mate will find you, or you them.  I have to believe that fate wouldn't be as cruel as it seems to me now.
~Junie

In a war torn Afghanistan, Junie signs up for a Peace Corps assignment involving recently orphaned children.  She wasn't expecting a lavish experience.  She knew it would be primitive and dangerous but it turned out to be way more difficult than she could have imagined.

Captain Tyler Alexander, U.S. Army, Infantry: Mission first and mission ready is his motto, but he realizes it all has a deeper meaning when he meets Junie--a Flower-power Peace Corps volunteer.  Can they have a relationship in the midst of terrorists and firefights?

“I'm not really sure why I did it. Nobody forced me or even tried to convince me. And, I don't think I had a death wish.  I was outside myself and compelled to do something. The loneliness made me restless. I was finally able to put a name to the ache in my chest that was a constant.  It needs an outlet and the hole needs to be filled.  There was something missing besides my family--an uncontrollable desire to get away and even help others if I am able. Sometimes we have to leap and not look down to move forward, especially if we don’t know why we have to.  My blind leap led me to war...  in Afghanistan.”
~Junie, Shrapnel’s Kiss

I am seized with a sense of debilitating queasiness that makes my head spin. This can’t be happening, it is too much to process.  Where is Tyler?  What are they doing to him? Trickles of panic slither down my back in an ugly feeling I have never experienced before. I suck in some dry, stale air to try and find a small part of myself that is calm.  Mom, Dad, if you can hear me up in heaven, help me?  Tell me what to do.  I’m afraid.  I wish they could come and get me out of this caveman nightmare!
~Junie, Shrapnel’s Kiss

I dart my eyes around as panic builds in my chest.  What happened? The familiar loneliness builds and builds as I try to recall the last things I remember.  My eyes shut tight against the memories.  The emotions of fear, vulnerability, and despair sit at the surface— a war inside me. Heat crawled in and wouldn’t leave, keeping me on the edge of combusting.  The onslaught of images raged in me with the faces of our captors, horribly disfigured with holes in their skulls, it replayed over and over.
~Junie, Shrapnel’s Kiss

Tyler is looking at me and a rush of emotion, I didn’t know he was capable of after his abandonment, crosses his features.  Right then and there I knew what I felt for him, he felt for me and it gave me a little peace.  Whatever he was going to say to me, at least I knew for myself that it wasn’t one sided.  I wasn’t crazy.
~Junie

Blindly, I rummage in the bag for a bottle of water. Cradling her head with my arm, I lift her and pour water into her mouth. Through coughing and sputtering she only gets a little bit.  I rearrange her attempting to make her more comfortable by putting her head in my lap.  A deep fear rolls its way up from my empty stomach. The granola bars we had earlier barely touched the surface of my hunger. In training, there were days when they only gave us one MRE and worked us hard.  It was to prepare us times like these.  I never had any training that used this scenario, lost in the wilderness of Afghanistan with a female civilian sick with fever.
~Tyler, Shrapnel’s Kiss

Junie is exactly the way I left her, unconscious and immobile, but beautiful.  I reach down slipping my arms around her and lift.  Guarded, I carry her, cradling her to me, unaware and limp. A longing to hold her really tight crosses my mind and the image of us curled up in each other’s arms in a large soft bed accompanies it.
~Tyler, Shrapnel’s Kiss

Cover Reveal: Hands Off! The 100 Day Agreement by Candy J Starr

Title: Hands Off! The 100 Day Agreement
Author: Candy J. Starr
Publication date: December 2014
Genres: New Adult, Romance

Summary:
One hundred days without sex? Is that even possible?

When I got offered an exchange year to the Italian art school of my dreams, I nearly cried. I could barely afford college expenses at home let alone in a foreign country. I had to decline but my rich, uptight grandmother called with her screwed up offer.

If I agreed to her conditions, she’d foot the bill. So I agreed. I figured she didn’t really care about my sex life, she just wanted me to keep my partying off the radar of her fancy friends.

I was so wrong.

The sexy but annoying Chad moved into my apartment to keep me under surveillance. He’s impervious to my charms and for some damn reason, dead set on making sure I lose this deal.

One hundred days is a helluva long time to avoid temptation – even longer when Chad becomes the temptation.

Author Bio:
Candy J. Starr used to be a band manager until she realised that the band she managed was so lacking in charisma that they actually sucked the charisma out of any room they played. "Screw you," she said, leaving them to wallow in obscurity - totally forgetting that they owed her big bucks for video equipment hire.

Candy has filmed and interviewed some big names in the rock business, and a lot of small ones. She's seen the dirty little secrets that go on in the back rooms of band venues. She's seen the ugly side of rock and the very pretty one.

But, of course, everything she writes is fiction.

She is currently working on Rock Star vs Millionaire - the sequel to Bad Boy Rock Star. Want to know about new releases and secret fan only offers? Join her mailing list.
