Victor stood, dressed to kill in a black, long-sleeve shirt and slacks. His fabulous six-foot three body towered above everyone else. Short, jet-black hair. Bangs stuck up in tufts. Hazel eyes shimmered under the hanging lights over the stage. Fair skin and a shadowed jaw gave him a sophisticated look—a “don’t mess with me, I’m a badass” look no woman in her right mind could resist. A sense of safety and danger was all wrapped up into one gorgeous package.

Victor spoke in a deep, soft tone. Gooseflesh had spread over her body during their chat sessions. Parts of her ached for his touch. Rather than meet his striking, stern eyes, she’d kept her attention on the dark-brown panels of the walls in the room. Or she’d watch his long fingers tap against the top of the bistro table. When she found the courage to meet his gaze, she’d calmed the urge to wrestle him to the floor as if he were one of the bad guys he chased down on his job.

Their second session was worse. Thoughts of Victor ripping her dress from her body had invaded her mind. Fantasizing about his mouth over hers, and those strong, warm hands fondling her flesh had made their conversation about his career as a detective non-existent. Handcuffs had worked into her daydream before his remarkable voice brought her back to the bistro table—back to her senses. That’s when she’d realized drool had pooled at the corners of her mouth.

His dark brows had furrowed. An incredible grin had spread across his face as he cupped her burning cheek with his soft, cool hand. He’d dabbed her wet lips with the white cloth napkin from their table, setting her entire body ablaze.

Victor was toned, not overly muscled like Cage’s colossal physique. Victor had no flaws. None she could see anyway. He was perfect. Sweet. Intelligent. Courteous. Drop-dead gorgeous.

Each man had their pros. Both were beautiful. Both had remarkable careers. But Melanie’s desires swayed toward Victor. It seemed too good to be true that she’d met someone like him at a dating service. He didn’t belong here like the others.

“Maybe you should consider yourself lucky. I’m not much of a cook.”

“Says the gal who runs a bakery.” He traced the scar on her forearm. “What happened here?”

His gentle touch sent a jolt of electricity through her body. She shivered.

“I burned myself pulling a loaf of bread from the oven.”

“That must’ve been some loaf of bread.”

“They can get pretty big and heavy.”

He slid his thumb across the thin slanted scar on her index finger. “And where did you get this from?”
“Electric bread knife.”

“You weren’t kidding when you said you were accident-prone.”

“When I was a little girl, my dad sent me to school with a note telling the teacher not to let me use scissors.”

Ben snickered. “No joke?”

“The teacher thought my dad was paranoid.” She breathed a laugh through her nose. “I have several scars on my stomach to prove otherwise.”

“Hmm.” He combed his eyes over her body. “You’ll have to show me the scars sometime.”

Face on fire, she nodded. This was so much better than earlier. The way he looked at her, with eagerness in his eyes, was nice and kind of scary.

“You ready to go back to your place?”

“Yeah,” she said softly.

His cool, musky scent enchanted her, lured her in. Closer. Just a little farther and his lips would touch hers.

We know you’re an author, but do you work another job when you are not writing?
Yes, I do. I’ve been a night shift labor and delivery RN for twenty-five years. I’m three years away from retirement from healthcare. I’m three years away from becoming a full-time writer.

Other than writing, what do you have a passion for?
Music – I have a bachelor’s degree in music education and have played the clarinet for fifty-three years. I also play the flute and piano. I love classical music.

Is there some place special you like to be when you write?
My home office (just painted from gray to peach – yay!) is where I do the majority of my writing. I don’t think I’m the coffee house kind of writer, but I’ve never tried writing in public. Maybe I should give it a go.

Do you have any upcoming projects in the works or other books that have been published – Tell us about them?
The title of my WIP is Final Acceptance.

She wanted to come home, but could she stay? He met someone that made him feel alive again, but could he chance it?

A story of loss, grieving and tearing down barriers. Ella wants to revive her life that was once amazing and fulfilling. Jackson is looking to put down roots, but family responsibilities pull him away from the west coast and the woman that will make his life complete.

Sleeping Tom by EV Fairfall

Title: Sleeping Tom
Author: E.V. Fairfall
Series: Sleeping Tom #1
Genre: Contemporary, Romance, Young Adult
Release date: February 15th 2015
Summary:
Hitchhiking is a bad idea but Caden is desperate.

When she accepts a ride from the first car to come by she meets Gabriel. He’s her age, hot, and the closest thing she has to a savior. Problem is, he is a total jerk. With nowhere to go, Caden convinces Gabriel to let her stay with him for one night. He reluctantly lends a couch.

That night Caden wakes up to strange noises. Concerned, she rushes into Gabriel’s room, already anticipating his bad temper. Instead, he’s kind, sweet, and suspiciously harmless—nothing like the man who gave her a ride. He seems like a different person altogether, and claims he is. By night he is Tom, and by day he is Gabriel. Caden finds herself drawn to the mysteries hidden in his eyes.

For Gabriel, Caden is an annoying mistake. One night turns into many, and despite all his anger towards her, she stays. She even seems to accept him and his flaws, but he still doesn’t trust her—is she staying for him, or has she already discovered more than he’s willing to share?

Gabriel tossed back the sheets on his bed and got up. Halfway down the stairs he froze. Black ribbons of hair draped off the side of his dirty party couch. It was Caden. He walked down the rest of the stairs and into the kitchen, eyeing her. The curves of her face were soft and pleasant, or something he couldn’t find a word for. He quickly turned away from her sleeping form and took out the coffee maker.

It was nearly two in the afternoon.

She hadn’t left.

Gabriel’s chest tightened at the thought of her staying, at the thought of wanting company.

He despised the feeling. Nothing good had ever come from other people. She would use him. She already was by overstaying her welcome.

Dark liquid streamed into the glass coffee pot. The smell drifted through the air with the warmth that normally accompanied a home. A home he’d never had and didn’t want.

He took down a mug, unintentionally gripping it tightly. His hand was shaking. He needed her gone. The last person he’d let into his life had made everything worse with her lies; he couldn’t handle that again.

He poured himself a cup, and with a swift movement he brought the steaming mug to his lips and took a gulp of bitter liquid. The heat surprised him, and he pulled back from it as if it had bitten him. Caden wasn’t even awake yet, and just being near her made him feel crazy, restless.

“I thought I told you to be gone in the morning. It’s nearly two in the afternoon.” He spoke loudly, not quite facing her.

Caden rotated slightly on the couch, her eyes opening only part of the way. She looked as tired as he felt.

“What?” she croaked.

“You heard me,” he snarled through clenched teeth, leaning over her body. “Why are you still here?” As he’d grown up, his parents had given free rent in one of their condos to anyone who would provide childcare for him. He supposed he’d always supplied a roof to strangers in one way or another.

“You asked me to stay.” Her voice echoed her helplessness and uncertainty.

“When?”

“Last night,” Caden said, rubbing her eyes.

Heat was rising in Gabriel. Pain and disappointment overwhelmed his senses. She was lying. Just like everyone he’d ever know. The force of his anger was like a wrecking ball in full swing.

Ceramic exploded against the wall, fragments flying across the room. He’d done that. The brown drips of coffee streaked down the white wall by the door. Gabriel looked at his empty shaking hand and clenched his fist tightly together.

“You’re lying,” he said as he looked down at her. This was her fault; if only she had just left like he told her to. But he didn’t want her to leave; that was the worst part. The tension came back, the numbness creeping in and propelling him forward. He couldn’t be near her, not now. The only thing he could do was leave. He walked briskly to the door before he changed his mind.

*****
Caden watched the door tremble as it was slammed closed. Gabriel was gone.

“You asked me to stay,” she stammered the whisper, her heart pounding in her ears, but no one was there to hear it.

Hot & Nerdy 2 by Shannyn Schroeder

Title: Hot & Nerdy 2
Author: Shannyn Schroeder
Series: Hot & Nerdy
Genre: New Adult Contemporary
Release Date: May 24, 2016
Publisher: Kensington (Lyrical Press)
Summary:
Adam, Hunter, and Free have a lot in common, like geeky passions and not exactly great track records when it comes to dating. But a New Year’s Eve bash will bring everything they’ve ever wanted–and so much more . . .

His Work Of Art #4
Reese Carter is definitely not your average college girl. She’d prefer to spend Saturday nights playing Hero’s Crusade than attending a wild frat party on campus. When she bands together with Adam, fellow comic enthusiast and illustrator, it appears that Reese has formed a dream team sure to propel her writing into the comic hall of fame.

Adam Hayes has never met a girl like Reese. She’s sassy, smart, and loves talking comics, although he can’t see why she’d choose DC over Marvel. He’s thrilled to finally put his artistic chops to use in their upcoming comic project. But. this relationship is strictly professional. Or so he tells himself. When the two combine forces, they churn out magic in more ways than they had planned; they never expected to develop a steamy romantic sub-plot of their own…

His New Jam #5
Sydney Peters can’t wait to finally drop the cymbals in marching band and devote time to her true love: drums. With the semester coming to a close, she’s blocking out the cacophony during practice, especially sax serenades from Hunter Reed. But when Hunter offers her a paid gig as a drummer in his band, Sydney quickly changes her tune. The two favor different styles, but they make beautiful music together…in more ways than one.

Hunter is fascinated by Sydney’s distant allure. He might be a ladies’ man on campus, but the sarcastic cymbalist is impervious to his advances. When Hunter sees how passionate Sydney is behind the drums, he orchestrates a plan to find out if she kisses like she plays. What he doesn’t anticipate, however, is falling so hard. But will the repercussions of his past crash down on his chance at something real?

His Dream Role #6
Free Mitchell loves the theater. In his dreams he’s the one taking the spotlight. But so far he’s played against character by following in his father’s footsteps as an investment banker. When he’s masquerading as Dr. Who or Sherlock Holmes to help his brother, he feels he can escape his shy, dorky persona. But nothing’s prepared him to play boyfriend to a gorgeous girl like Samantha Wolf.

Samantha isn’t quite sure what to think of Free. He’s cute, sweet, and quirky, but his outlandish costumes make him seem crazy. However, it turns out Sam has a soft spot for theater nerds. And the more time they spend together, the more their steamy romance begins to take center stage. Only problem is, there doesn’t seem to be a script. And it’s anyone’s guess how this one will end.

Reese didn’t wait for him to reach her. She ran and jumped into his arms, yelling, “Guesswhatguesswhatguesswhat?”

Adam held her close and for a split second she almost forgot her original excitement.  He tended to have that effect on her.

“What?”

“An editor stopped by our table and picked up a copy. He stood right in front of me and read it. Then he started asking all kinds of questions about how many copies had been distributed and stuff. Thank God Julie had all of that written down for me. Then he said he’s interested in publishing it!” She squeezed Adam and whispered in his ear, “Can you believe it?”

“Wow.”

That was his response? Adam was always a little stoic and reserved, but really? She released him and took a step back. She caught him looking at Hunter. She turned and faced Hunter.

He shrugged. “Congrats!” He hugged her quickly and grabbed Sydney’s hand. “We’re gonna take a look around.”

With a tip of his Indiana Jones hat, they were gone in the sea of people.

“What’s going on?” Reese asked.

“Nothing. I mean, it’s a lot to take in.”

Reese studied his eyes. She loved his face, but his eyes told his story. Always. Something was wrong, and in usual Adam fashion, he wasn’t talking. She took another step back and thought maybe he was freaking out about her extreme display of affection in a crowd. Although he’d gotten better over the months, sometimes he still shied away from touching her in public.

She felt her shoulders droop. If there was ever a place they would be accepted as a couple it would be here among all the freaks and geeks. “No one is looking at us.” She glanced around and then added, “Okay, maybe the Klingon over there was a little interested.”

He smiled, which was what she’d been going for. “I don’t care if people stare.”

“Liar.”

“I don’t care if they stare because they think we need a room. I care if they stare because they don’t think we belong together. But I’m not afraid to be seen with you.”

As if to prove his point, he tugged her close and lowered his mouth to hers. She loved it when he made the first move, finally sure of himself. With an arm wrapped around her waist, his tongue slid into her mouth, tickling and teasing.

He made it clear to everyone in the aisle that he loved her and they were together. Just when she thought she couldn’t love him more. But then . . .

Her heart sped up and it was no longer from the kiss they’d shared. She jerked back. “If you’re not worried about how people look at us and you’re willing to lay a kiss on me like that, then what’s wrong?”

“Nothing.”

“God, Adam, please don’t lie to me. You suck at it.”

He blew out a deep breath and looked around. At the table. At the wall. At the cosplayers walking by. Anywhere but at her face.

“Seriously?” The word came out almost as a yell. She was going to lose her temper, and she didn’t want that to happen here. “Fine.” She grabbed a stack of booklets and walked away.

Author Bio:
Shannyn Schroeder is the author of the O’Leary series, contemporary romances centered around a large Irish-American family in Chicago and the Hot & Nerdy series about 3 nerdy friends finding love. Crave: Exiled's Second Son by Victoria Danann

Title: Crave: Exiled's Second Son
Author: Victoria Danann
Series: Exiled #2
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: May 20, 2016
Summary:
What price freedom? Seasons came and went as Crave was held in isolation, chained in darkness, kept in filth, starved, tortured, taunted, taken to the point of a welcome death only to be revived so that his tormentors could begin the process again. The woman who held his heart waited for him and never gave up hope that he was alive. After his rescue, memory and sanity gone, she will plumb the depths of love. Because only one person can bring him back from hell.

He would sit with his back against a corner and participate to the extent that every breath in and out drove a low level growl across his vocal cords. To someone unfamiliar with Exiled, it might have sounded like an extremely loud and rumbling purr. But Dandelion heard it for what it was. A resentment so deep and wide that it was a promise of malice, should he ever be freed.

She ignored it and continued reading, certain that the ritual would eventually reach into his heart and ignite a response. One day when she returned to the holding facility with fresh bedding and clean clothes, she brought a dandelion that she had picked near the door. She placed it on the floor just inside Crave’s cell and backed away knowing that he was irritated by having people approach his space.

Seeing that there was something new and different, Crave got to his feet and walked toward the flower never taking his eyes away from it. Crouching he fell into a squat and studied the little yellow bloom while Dandelion quietly watched well out of reach.

He lifted it to his face and studied it, cocking his head to the side. The novelty held his interest until Dandelion moved slightly. The movement caught his attention and, when his eyes shifted from the flower to her, he was again possessed by the angry demons that plagued him. He bellowed his outrage and tore the flower into little bits. Seeing that some of the pieces fell within his cell, he proceeded to pick up each and every tiny bit, whether petal, leaf, or stem, and throw them through the bars one by one.

When he was finished, she quipped, “So you’re not fond of dandelions anymore.”

No Simple Sacrifice by Angel Payne & Victoria Blue

Title: No Simple Sacrifice
Authors: Angel Payne & Victoria Blue
Series: Secrets of Stone #5
Genre: Contemporary Adult Romance
Release Date: April 26, 2016
Summary:
If I could turn back time...

You know what they say about wishing for the impossible.

My name is Talia Perizkova, and time is usually my best friend. It's been good to me in the months since I left the man who nearly killed me, and I've returned the favor by working hard at Stone Global Corp, even getting promoted to lead one of SGC's key expansion projects.

There's only one mar on that record. The night I told time to kiss my ass, during a business trip to Vegas with my bosses--yes, my bosses--and experienced a night for the record books with them both. But what happened in the City of Sin refuses to stay there for any of us, and time has joined forces with his pal, karma, to exact payback where it most matters. In my heart.

Fletcher Ford. Drake Newland. They're two of the business world's sexiest, most sought-after bachelors, and I've fallen for them both. Their passion is everything I crave, their protection is everything I need--and their love is everything my orthodox family will never let me accept.

The solution, according to them, is simple. One man steps down, so at least two of us are happy.

I could find a way...

But sacrifices are rarely simple, and one plus one doesn't always equal happily-ever-after. That means all three of us have some huge, hard decisions to make. Take a chance on this rare love we've been given...or give in to fear, and lose each other forever?

Hi there. I'm Angel: book lover, writing addict, hopeless romantic, pop culture geek and avid shoe lover.

A bit about me...

I've been hooked on books since I was a kid but it got worse in my twenties, when I discovered romances--the hotter, the better. Growing up in Southern California, with lots of surfer manliness surrounded me, was certainly a good boost for reading about delicious alpha guys and the women who adore them. When I learned I had a knack for telling these stories too, I guess you could say I was doomed--though my path toward romance novelist took a few detours via a concert-reviewing gig for my college newspaper (free show tickets...backstage passes...that was a no-brainer), artist interviews for a Beverly Hills dance music mag, personal assistant work for a record producer, dance club disc jockey, and a lot of fun in the hospitality industry.

These days, I still live in California, and have found an amazing alpha guy of my own who was brave enough to marry me. We live on a street that looks like Brigadoon, with our beautiful daughter. I have the best life ever, and never forget to thank the Big Guy Upstairs for it, either.

Victoria Blue lives in her own portion of the galaxy known as Southern California. There she finds the love and life sustaining power of one amazing sun, two unique and awe inspiring planets and three indifferent, yet comforting moons.
