Author: RL Stedman
Series: SoulNecklace Stories #3
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

Summary:
About my wrist is a tattoo of roses, strung like beads on a bracelet of thorns. I have a past, if only I could remember — but I cannot remember.

Held captive in a strange city, Dana dreams of fire and flight. There is something she must find, but she does not know what it is, or why it is important. If only her dreams would let her rest.

Half a world away, Will studies a new, exciting discipline. But while N’tombe the enchantress is impressed by his newfound skills, inside he feels only desperation. A terrible moment is approaching; soon, Dana must face her final ordeal. Is his new power enough to save her? And is he prepared for what might happen next?

In this thrilling conclusion to the award-winning SoulNecklace Stories, Will and Dana must make a heart-breaking choice. A choice that may change their world forever.

What is the biggest influence/interest that brought you to this genre?
I discovered Diana Wynne Jones when I was nine! I loved her Charmed Life series, and it’s been fantasy and sci-fi for me ever since!

When writing a book, what is your favorite part of the creative process(outline, plot, character names, editing, etc)?
Writing the first draft is the fun part, reading the first draft is the worst part! And the reading the final draft is great too, because that’s when you see the words falling into place.

When reading a book, what genre do you find most interesting/intriguing?
I love futurist sci-fi. I love reading a book where you think, wow, could that really happen and frequently ideas I’ve read about in sci-fi become real. I’m always annoying my tech-loving kids by saying: “William Gibson wrote that.” I sometimes wonder what the world would be like if we hadn’t had Asimov, Heinlein, Huxley or Orwell.

If you could co-author with any author, past or present, who would you choose?
What a great question! I would love to write a book with Kyle Mewburn, a crazy Kiwi writer – he’s a fabulous writer, and is very funny. He also lives not far from me, so hey Kyle? What do you think!

Have you always wanted to write or did it come to you "later in life"?
Always wanted to write. Since I was about 5. I never thought I was any good though. Some days I still don’t think I’m any good. My advice to aspiring writers: just do it!
