Blog Tour: Veiled by Stacey Rourke

Title: Veiled
Author: Stacey Rourke
Series: Veiled #1
Genre: Adult Urban Fantasy
Release Date: November 7, 2017

Summary:
Political propaganda would have us believe vampires are our friends. Fanged teddy bears misunderstood thanks to archaic lore. Activists picket for them to be welcomed into our society.

They claim vamps don’t kill.
They preach we are safe.
They … are dead wrong.

One year ago a hive slaughtered my family and left me for dead. Found by a team of scientists with their own agenda, I was forged into an unstoppable weapon.

I possess their strength, with none of their weaknesses.
I can move among them free from their crippling hunger.
I am their greatest threat.

Armed with this arsenal, vengeance will feed my desire to penetrate the seedy underbelly of their fetishized lifestyle and expose them for the monsters they truly are.

What is the biggest influence/interest that brought you to this genre?
I said I would never write a vampire book. When I finally did I was driven by the desire to approach it in a way that had never been done before. Political corruption and the vampire hunger, in some ways those two evils have a lot in common. So, why not combine them? Who is the true villain in a situation where corrupt politicians and vampires meet? That was a fun concept to play with.

When writing a book, what is your favorite part of the creative process(outline, plot, character names, editing, etc)?
Dialogue is always my favorite. I love giving the character’s their unique voice and watching them come alive in how they react to each other, quippy remarks and all!

When reading a book, what genre do you find most interesting/intriguing?
I genre hop often and regularly. I stick with fiction for the most part, but like everything from suspenseful thrillers like Gone Girl, to Sarah J Maas high concept fantasy, to literary fiction works like The Martian.

If you could co-author with any author, past or present, who would you choose?
Stephen King, without a doubt.

Have you always wanted to write or did it come to you "later in life"?
I’ve written since I could first put crayon to paper. It was part of who I am. However, I never considered becoming an author until after I finished my first book. I was a stay at home mom with a newborn and a seventeen-month-old, and I needed a mental escape from diapers, spit-up, and nap schedules. I found those escapes by clicking away at the computer. The day I finished my first manuscript a lightbulb went on over my head. I felt like I final figured out what I should have been doing all along, professionally speaking. Since then, I never looked back.
