Blog Tour: A Study in Shifters by Majanka Verstraete

Title: A Study in Shifters
Author: Majanka Verstraete
Series: The Adventures of Marisol Holmes #1
Genre: Young Adult, Paranormal
Release Date: June 26, 2018
Publisher: Monster House Books

Summary:
Seventeen-year-old Marisol Holmes may be the great-great-great granddaughter of Sherlock Holmes, but it’s hard to live up to the family name when only one mistake can spell your downfall. After trusting the wrong guy in a case gone totally wrong, Marisol convinces the Conclave, an underground organization of detectives solving supernatural cases, to give her a last chance to prove her worth, and maybe even heal her broken heart

After all, as a half-blood jaguar shifter, Marisol is uniquely qualified to solve this murder—and every scrap of evidence points toward the culprit being a fellow jaguar shifter. But is one of her own people involved, or is this all a ploy to kick Marisol’s mother off the shifter throne?

Then Marisol discovers her best friend, Roan, is missing, and maybe the killer’s next target. The stakes just got higher than political intrigue. Just when things couldn’t get worse, Marisol’s ex-boyfriend-turned-nemesis, Mannix, starts leaving sinister clues for her. Marisol fears this case might be far more personal than she could’ve imagined.

It’s time for Marisol to prove her worth, or her people could fall into chaos while her best friend loses his life.

What is the biggest influence/interest that brought you to this genre?
Young Adult Paranormal/Fantasy is my favorite genre to read, so naturally I turned to this genre when I started writing books. I’ve always wanted to write for young adults. They’re such a great audience, and it’s such a challenging but interesting age to write about.

When writing a book, what is your favorite part of the creative process(outline, plot, character names, editing, etc)?
My favorite part is the outline and coming up with the plot. Editing not so much, haha, but it’s something all writers have to get through.

When reading a book, what genre do you find most interesting/intriguing?
I read mostly young adult books, and my favorite genre is paranormal/fantasy, in particular ghost stories. They’re terrifying but so much fun.

If you could co-author with any author, past or present, who would you choose?
Sarah J. Maas. She comes up with such amazing storylines and characters, I would love to co-author a book with her.

Have you always wanted to write or did it come to you "later in life"?
Ever since I could write, I’ve wanted to write stories and share them with the world.
