Release Tour: Deadly Discovery by Alathia Paris Morgan

Title: Death by Poison
Author: Alathia Paris Morgan
Series: Nova Ladies Adventures #3
Genre: Mystery/Suspense
Release Date: June 21, 2018
Summary:
Julie, while recovering from wounds sustained in the line of duty, discovers she isn't who she believed herself to be. Her journey into the past, leads her on the path to her future, but there are those who would prefer the past not to resurface. Determined to find out the truth about her family, Julie is in a race to sift through years of secrets before the past has a chance to silence her for good.

“Well, you said you needed to talk, so spill. I’ve got hours to listen, drink coffee, and eat pie.” Allie grinned as she took a sip of her coffee.

“You really should be a cop.” Julie shook her head at Allie’s intuition, and relayed the conversation with her grandmother from earlier in the day.

“I’m very confused. What do I do about this situation?” Julie concluded.

“Do you want to go to Georgia and meet your grandmother?” Allie watched Julie’s face closely.

“Yes, but I feel like I’m betraying Grams. I mean, she’s the one that wants me to go, but doesn’t meeting Mimi Millie lessen all the things she’s done for me over the years?” Julie grimaced in frustration.

“Absolutely not,” Allie exclaimed vehemently. “She will always be your grandmother, and she knew this day would come eventually. It would be good for you to expand your horizons and meet more of your family. Admit it, you might find a handsome man to fall in love with, ’cause Lord knows, you won’t find one here.”

“Allie, I can’t meet a man there. He might be my cousin or uncle, or something weird. There are no men knocking down my door, but I haven’t been overly friendly with guys either.” Julie looked disgusted.

“Julie.” Allie laid a hand on her arm. “There are plenty of men in the entire state of Georgia that aren’t related to you. You just have to be willing to open up and let them get to know the real you.”

“I can’t. As soon as they find out that I carry a gun and run toward danger, guys run in the opposite direction. Besides, if I went out there, it would be to meet my family, not a guy. My life is here,” Julie finished, firmly running out of reasons she couldn’t date a guy.

“Really, your life is here? Where you grew up and know about everyone and their dating histories? Unless you know someplace where they have mail order grooms that don’t need a green card, then you could just order the perfect man,” Allie joked.

“See? This is why I called. I knew it was crazy to go across the country and meet people who might be criminals themselves.”

“Nope, not what I said. Besides, we have serial killers right here. You helped to take one down that you’ve known your whole life, so at least give these new people in your life the benefit of the doubt, okay? They can’t be any worse than the people here in this town.”

“Crap. Why did you have to bring up sensible reasons when I was looking for excuses?” Julie pouted.

“So are you going to tell them you’re coming, or just show up on Mimi Millie’s doorstep?” Allie asked practically.

“I’m going to wait until Grams leaves for church in the morning. She won’t know until she gets home what I’m doing.” Julie pulled out the key to the cedar chest. “I’m going to read through sixty years’ worth of letters before I go traipsing about. I might get all the answers I need and not have to go anywhere.”

“Uh-huh, keep telling yourself that. I’ll just explain it to Justin that you needed to go on an epic adventure and destroy a ring at the top of a mountain.” Allie laughed at the bewildered expression on Julie’s face. “Justin made me watch this movie about a Hobbit who goes on an adventure. He said my movie education was sadly lacking.”

“Oh, I get it now. Haha.” Julie gave her a tight smile.

“All right, that’s it. Get up.” Allie stood abruptly.

“Wait, where are we going?”

“To get you packed for your journey.” Allie collected the trash to dispose of it as they left.

“But I’m not sure if I’m going yet,” Julie protested.

“Julie, do I need to call Megan on her honeymoon?” Allie was referring to their friend who had been chased by a serial killer and poisoned. She was now recovering with her new husband, and wouldn’t want to be disturbed, but the threat of calling her would be enough guilt for Julie to comply.

“No,” Julie whined. “Let’s go.”

Release Tour: Military Against Zombies by Alathia Paris Morgan

Title: Military Against Zombies
Author: Alathia Paris Morgan
Series: Against Zombies #2
Genre: Paranormal Horror
Release Date: April 13, 2018
Summary:
Brad Jackson is overseas, serving his country, when the zombie sickness hits. The National Guard had been overrun, and the sick are turning into zombies faster than bullets can stop them. Ordered to evacuate to Nashville with his unit, he's only a few hours away from Jackson Mountain, where his wife, Emma, was supposed to go if all hell broke loose. Now, his only motivation is to complete the mission and make it home, but the zombies seem to have other plans for Company D.

Meanwhile, the sickness has spread to the countryside, and former marine, Linc Harris, is torn between the two women he has sworn to protect--his girlfriend, Jessica, and his mother, Mavis. Jessica appears to be safe on the farm, but his mother is trapped in town. A bully is determined to stamp out the zombie sickness by killing all those who are sick. Can Linc save his mother and the town from from the sick before they turn, or a bully kills them?

A few of the troops were starting to cough the closer we got to the States. This always happened when we made the change of atmosphere from east to west.

But the closer we got toward home, the sicker sounding those coughs became. The medics had taken all those that were showing signs of illness and moved them to the back of the plane. Our leaders hung blankets, hoping to avoid the spread of germs in the contained area.

With only about thirty minutes of flying over the water left, a growling sound started coming from the back of the plane.

Screams and grunts erupted from behind the curtain as a blood-covered hand gripped the blanket, pulling it down.

“Buckle in, we’re going to open the cargo door! I repeat, strap yourselves in…” The voice trailed off as everyone tried to grab their guns and strap in at the same time.

A blast of air was sucked out of the plane as the pilot tried to prepare everyone for the difference in air pressure.

I watched in horror as bodies flew out of the cargo door with blood dripping from their teeth. I felt bad for the ones who hadn’t been as sick but were being sucked out of the tail of the plane as well.

When the cargo door closed, I gulped in the fresh air, only to hear more gasping sounds coming from the back of the plane.

Evidently, those who hadn’t been as sick were strapped into their seats and had become the infected dead, but they couldn’t do more than bite the person next to them.

My platoon officer yanked off his restraints, gun in hand, and ran to the back of the plane. Rapid shots followed and all the growling sounds were silenced.

Everyone on the plane watched as he walked around, checking each person and making sure those who were infected were dead.

While hard to watch, I knew it was the right thing to do even though I wasn’t sure if I could have done it myself.

The pilot spoke again. “Due to the growing problem, everyone will have to be inspected before they can leave the area and find a place to shower, eat, and rest up before orders are handed down.”

I groaned on the inside but knew that after what had occurred on the plane, extra precautions were needed.

With the way that things were going, they weren’t going to let us go home to our families. This virus, or one of those things were going to take us out one by one.

Three years later Tami no longer writes but is determined to show the world the magic that lies within the pages of all books.

The following authors are helping Magic of Books to celebrate its birthday. Enjoy.

Message from Tami:
The last three years have been an incredible journey. I've made so many friends who began as bloggers, readers, and authors. I have been privileged to present and showcase new and old books from seasoned and new authors. I've learned so much I didn't even realize I should know prior to getting into this business. And after three years I can honestly say I'm still learning, I'm still growing, and I'm still making friends. I love and appreciate all of you who have supported my little slice of heaven. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Mackenzie FlohrMackenzie Flohr
Mackenzie Flohr grew up in the heartland of America, chasing leprechauns and rainbows and dreaming of angels. Her parents nurtured a love of fantasy and make-believe by introducing her at a very young age to the artistic and cultural opportunities that the city of Cleveland had to offer.

From the time she could hold a pencil, Mackenzie was already creating pictorial interpretations of classic stories, and by the age of nine, she and a childhood friend were authors and reviewers of their own picture books.

While following her love of adventure, Mackenzie found a second home, the Beck Center for the Arts Children's and Teen Theater School. It was there that a world of wonder was only a script and a performance away.

Yet it wasn't until she was on a trip to Indiana, viewing a Lord of the Rings exhibit, that the innermost desire of her heart became clear to her. She wanted to write a fantasy of her own, one that could inspire imagination in others and lead them into a magical world of their own making. She hopes The Rite of Wands will do just that.

Wherever we live and wherever we come from is our individual heartland. Anything is possible and everything can happen. Pure imagination is in all of us—we only need to discover it, and sometimes story telling helps.

Death by Poison #2
Needing to rest, Megan realized that she had half an hour before the school bus would bring Sally home. She decided to take a break from cleaning the cabin before her job and role as mommy started. She poured herself a glass of tea and went out to sit on the porch swing.

Enjoying the brief rest during the hot August day, Megan quickly drank her tea and went back inside for a refill. Trying to relax into her new life hadn’t been too difficult. Being with Sally made every moment worth all the trouble that her ex-husband, Mike, had ever put her through.

Sitting back on the swing, Megan had trouble relaxing in the stifling 102-degree heat. Gulping down her iced tea, she was hoping it would cool her down, but it wasn’t working the way she’d expected.

Feeling that something was wrong, Megan picked up her phone to dial GG, but she had trouble focusing on the screen. Turning to put the glass down on the table next to the swing, she turned too fast, losing her balance. The glass dropped to the table, hitting the edge and tumbling to the floor where it shattered. Megan tried to stop the swing from moving by putting her hand on the wall, which pushed the swing again, overcompensating as she fell to the floor. Her phone flew from her hand, across the porch and out of reach.

Megan didn’t know who was trying to kill her now, but was glad that Sally wasn’t home to see this happen to her. The fact that she’d been receiving notes all summer had made her cautious, but she hadn’t planned to die because of them.

Thankful that she and Sally had a family that accepted them just as they were was wonderful. They could take care of Sally since what was happening to her right now seemed to be serious. Megan slipped into unconsciousness, her last thoughts of her daughter.

Ding-Dong is She Dead? #1
“Did you want another beer?” Hearing her voice at his elbow saved Justin from searching the room for her.

“Yeah, thanks.” Justin wasn’t sure how to start up a conversation with her.

“What’s your name, ma’am?”

“Allie. Oh, the girl you were hanging out with said to give you a message if you ever came out from hiding in the bathroom.” She winked at him.

Allie was well acquainted with his type, good looking and charming until the next morning when they had what they wanted and didn’t need the girl anymore.

“She said, ‘She hoped you could find the right type of girl to take care of you. God only knows what kind of girl that could be. Someone to ride in and knock you off the black stallion you are so proud of.’” Allie started to move away, when Justin spoke.

“She was mad I wouldn’t take her out on a date. I couldn’t because we had nothing in common. She just wanted to be seen with me so others would like her as well.” Justin grimaced as he realized, Allie would never go out with him now.

Ugh! Way to go. Justin mentally slapped himself. Put another girl down and she will want to date you. Smooth man.

“Well, don’t feel too bad. She just needs to take the stick out of her butt, but that’s just my opinion. You can’t force someone to like you, it’s either there or it’s not. Here’s your beer on me.” Allie pulled some money from her apron and placed it in the register, moving on to another customer.

Allie glanced at the guy again, he seemed nice. Obviously the girl’s perfect body wasn’t this guy’s dream. Although, she is gorgeous and built, but who knows why he wasn’t interested. Oh well not my problem.

Trying not to stare at her was more difficult than Justin thought it would be as the night continued on without her returning to his end of the bar.

The other girl replaced Justin’s beer, “Last call dude. By the way, Allie isn’t really the type to pick up someone at her work. Better luck next time.” She remarked with a smile.

Beginning to feel like a stalker, Justin took the hint and got up to leave. Placing a few extra dollars in the tip jar, he went outside and leaned against the wall.

Trying to think of a plausible excuse to ask her out, he just kept repeating his part in that horrible conversation with her.

Not realizing the parking lot was clearing out, Justin was lost in thought when the bouncer, Stan walked Allie out to her car making sure she was inside before turning to find Justin standing there.

“You need to go home or I can call the cops. Which option do you want Bub?” Stan was a large man and he blocked Justin’s view of Allie when he placed his hands on his hips.

“Oh, sorry. Got lost in thought, I’ll head home now. Didn’t mean any harm.” Justin started toward his car, but stopped when both men turned toward the muffled cry.

Allie’s car revved up and slammed straight into the dumpster.

Dani Haviland
USA Today best-selling author Dani Haviland, a Mayflower and Mormon pioneer descendant, recently semi-retired from selling tractor parts, tools, and roses in Alaska, relocating to a more temperate climate in western Oregon to pursue her passions: writing, gardening, and photography.

Life has changed from jumping into a skidsteer loader to plow snow to pull-starting the walk behind weed whacker, but there are still enough hours in the day for the feisty old lady to propagate people for her novels and plants for her yard. Sharing is part of her personality, so creating books and photos to share all over the world makes her happy.

Her tenacious and perky attitude is reflected in many of her cyber children, whether they be a British lord stuck in 18th century North Carolina or a 6'7" time traveling 'fairy' who is out to champion anyone who is having a rough time dealing with difficult life situations.

Ryan Jo Summers
Ryan Jo Summers is a North Carolina writer who pens romances with a twist. They may contain any number of elements: Christian, humor, mystery, paranormal, sweet, shape-shifting, or time travel. Her dad is a songwriter and his aunt wrote poetry so writing must be in the family genes.

She makes her home in a century-old mountain cottage, with a menagerie of adopted pets. In her spare time, she likes to gather with family and friends, paint ceramics or canvas, potter in the yard, bird-watching, or read, play chess, Mahjongg or work word-find puzzles. She might take her dog and head deep into the forests and rivers near her home to plot the next big scene or story. Like her dad's aunt, she writes poetry as a means to cope with life's pains.

She collects lighthouses, shells, driftwood, and anything to remind her of the shore.

Melissa Kay Clarke
Melissa was born in Tupelo, Mississippi and raised in Houlka, a small rural town forty-five minutes southwest down the famous Natchez Trace. She found a love of reading very early and quickly devoured everything she could. In the fourth grade she discovered a multitude of worlds when she received her first library card. Told repeatedly that she had a wonderful imagination, she turned to scribbling her musings and wrote her first novel while in college. It was never published and has since vanished. The death of a close friend who aspired to become an author reawaked her own desire resulting in penning her first book, Shattered Dreams, published in 2013. It was quickly followed by two sequels with a forth final book in the works.

Melissa now resides in Meridian, Mississippi with her supportive family – husband, Robert and daughter Rebecca, two cats, and a precocious Chihuahua. When she isn't writing, she spends way too much time communicating with her online friends and feeding her ravenous appetite for the written word.
