Dax by Nana Malone

Title: Dax
Author: Nana Malone
Series: The Player Book #2
Genre: New Adult Romance, Sports
Release Date: February 28, 2017
Summary:
Money, power, prestige…trouble. Dax Coulter is … The Player.

Forget prodigal son, forget black sheep. Most of the Coulter family would just as soon disown Dax for his bad boy, womanizing ways. But, with his career in jeopardy and the Coulter legacy on the line, he needs to turn it all around. Too bad the one person who can help him, has legs for miles and curves for days…and is his best friend’s little sister. For once he can focus on the game and not on her body right?

Asha Wix is used to following all the rules. And with a family like hers that isn’t easy. She’s learned that to be seen and have merit, she needs to eat, breathe, sleep football. When she’s given the chance to change the reputation of league bad boy, Dax Coulter, she sees a chance to shine. Too bad, the sexy bad boy has her thinking about breaking all the rules and doing something a lot naughtier than sleeping football.

Danger, Will Robinson! Danger! Asha couldn't move. Dax's hooded gaze was trained on her lips, and for the life of her, she couldn't think. She liked him looking at her like that. Like he could eat her up in one swallow and still want more. Heat radiated from his body, enveloping her, soothing and coaxing through nothing but proximity.

She had a plan. She loved plans. Too bad her body had a whole other, unintended plan. She felt like one giant raw nerve. She'd seriously done more talking than she'd planned. The good news was he'd opened up. Mission accomplished. The bad news was, she'd opened up, too, and now she was vulnerable.

Her name was a whispered caress, and when she tipped her head up to meet his gaze, his lips brushed over hers.

The first kiss was tentative, a whispered question. He drew back a little, waiting, asking.

A shiver ran through her, and she had no choice but to chase his kiss with one of her own, twining their fingers together as she did. His free hand came up to cup the back of her head, his fingers aligning with the bones on the back of her neck before slipping down under the collar of her blouse.

His kisses missed their mark, landing on the corner of her mouth and cheek, while his fingers traced the skin beneath her satin collar, moving along the seam toward the front of her blouse, where the buttons began just below the hollow at the base of her throat.

She couldn't breathe. She couldn't slow her heart rate. She couldn't think. In those moments, all she knew was him. His touch. His mouth.

Dax’s finger hovered at the top button, waiting.

She let go of his other hand and reached for the loose fabric of his shirt where it was tucked into his pants, tugging it free. Dax eagerly unbuttoned her blouse, pausing so she could pull his shirt up and over his head before she shrugged out of her own.

She pulled him with her onto the bed, lying back while he buried his face in her chest. He reached up and pulled aside the silky fabric of her bra. Cupping her breasts in his warm hands, he moaned. Her breath hitched. Oh, God. Oh, God. Need pulled at her core. Her skin tingled and every synapse in her brain fired. Holy hell. Was this what she'd been missing out on?

Her hands traced the lines of muscle along his arms and abdomen, pressing lightly into his skin like a sculptor molding clay. She drew one of them slowly down Dax's arm to the hand cupping her breast and pressed it firmer to her. Yes. That felt so damn— His thumb teased her nipple, raising it to a peak. Holy shit. She rocked her hips into his, seeking…

She arched toward him, and his hand slipped to her back, first unhooking her bra, then trying to find a way down the back of her skirt. She laughed as the high waist of the skirt proved to be too difficult an obstacle for Dax to manage one-handed. Her laughter stopped abruptly when he bent his head to kiss her again, and ran that hand over the curve of her buttock, using it to pull her tight against him to feel the full extent of his arousal. Oh, wow.

She reached for Dax's hand once more, tugging it away from her ass and guiding it to the hem of her skirt. He shifted his weight and moved his body down hers, leaving a trail of kisses along her neck, clavicle, and breasts, and over her stomach just where the lightly tanned skin disappeared beneath the tightly woven grey cotton of her pencil skirt.

Her heart hammered as he discarded her bra. Dax's hands slid up her calves to massage the soft spot at the back of her knee. Hell. She wanted to open her legs to him but the skirt had no give. Before she could reach down to hike the constrictive fabric out of the way herself, his hand slid up the back of her thigh, pushing the skirt up and out of his path. More. Hell, she needed more.

"God…taste so good…soft…I can't…" Dax whispered against her skin as he kissed, sucked, licked. He covered her nipple completely with his lips, his warm breath a tease and caress all in one.

When he retreated and then leaned in again, she held her breath. Oh, God. "Dax. Ple—"

USA Today Best Seller, Nana Malone's love of all things romance and adventure started with a tattered romantic suspense she "borrowed" from her cousin.

It was a sultry summer afternoon in Ghana, and Nana was a precocious thirteen. She's been in love with kick butt heroines ever since. With her overactive imagination, and channeling her inner Buffy, it was only a matter a time before she started creating her own characters.

While she waits for her chance at a job as a ninja assassin, in the meantime Nana works out her drama, passion and sass with fictional characters every bit as sassy and kick butt as she thinks she is.

She wanted to believe him, but this had happened before. “You know you don’t have to explain yourself to me.” She tipped her chin up.

“I know I don’t, but I want to.” He stepped farther into the apartment, getting closer. “I need you to know. As much as we’re friends, you’re the one I want to be with. If you’re not ready, that’s cool, but the only girl I’m interested in is you.”

She swallowed, her pulse quickening. Oh, God. He was so close. His heat. She wanted him. Wanted his arms around her. Wanted his lips on her. She wanted him to look at her like she mattered.

“The way you ran off… Are you going to keep denying that you want more than to just be friends?” His voice was low. He was only a breath away.

Tami avoided meeting his gaze. “You don’t understand. I’ve been here before. And it hurts too much when I get left behind.”

He whispered, “I wouldn’t hurt you. You are the reason I get up every day and I feel excited instead of depressed. You do that.”

She looked up at him and saw her waning restraint reflected in his eyes as he leaned closer. So close. She wanted to feel. She was done with being numb. Tami rose on tiptoe, gently wrapping her arms around his neck. Bryce released a shuddering breath right before he slid his lips over hers.

He tasted faintly of mocha, and something sweet. He growled low in his throat, then deepened the kiss at the same time as he backed her into the apartment and kicked the door shut with his foot. Then, he pressed her up against the wall and deepened the kiss, licking into her mouth.

Tami couldn’t think. Fog clouded out rational thought. All she wanted was more of this. More of him. She might not be able to keep him, but she could have him now. She just had to steel herself against the broken heart when it came.

Because it would.

Race for Love by Nana Malone

Title: Race for Love
Author: Nana Malone
Series: The Donavons #3
Genre: New Adult Romance
Release Date: July 27, 2015
Summary:
Up and coming racecar driver, Kisima Jennings, is all alone in the world and that’s just how she likes it. After all, she has her career, who needs family? But when a near-fatal crash jeopardizes her future, she’s forced to lean on someone for the first time in her life.

As an athletic trainer, Derek Donovan is driven and has always kept his eyes on the prize, never letting personal entanglements come between him and his dream of becoming a head trainer for the New Orleans Jaguars. That is, until one misstep costs him everything. Now he’s starting over, but with a client as tempting as Kisima, is he destined to repeat the mistakes of his past? Or will letting someone close bring him everything he’s ever wanted?

"Can you come in here for a sec?"
Fuck yes. But his rational brain stopped him from doing the stupid thing. "Are you sure about that?"
She hesitated a second. "Yes. Please, I need your help."
With an exhale, he knew how this was going to go down. If he touched a wet, slippery Kiss, he was going to want to touch more. Kiss, lick, fuck. But he opened the door anyway.
Steam filled the expansive bathroom. But through it he could see it was a larger version of the guest bath down the hall. The floor was a white marble and white and gray glass tile lined the shower.  His gaze raked over her hungrily. From her delicate feet and strong calves to the lean strong thighs. But then her mauve towel stopped the progression of his exploration. Damn. "What's the problem?"
She sighed with relief as she turned, keeping just her head in the stream of the shower, trying to avoid getting the towel wet. She squinted up at him as the spray of water hit her face. "I managed to wash it okay, and even get conditioner in, but I'm dead exhausted and my shoulder started to talk to me. Normally I'd have just kneeled at the tub to wash it, and last time, Leah helped me, but I'm sort of desperate here."
She was wet, and slick. And he wanted his hand in her hair. He'd had a million dreams just like this one. In fact he wasn't entirely sure he wasn't dreaming right now. "Okay, what do you need?"
"If you could just help me make sure that the conditioner is out, I can do a quick detangle."
"Uh, okay." Except to do it, he was going to have to get into the shower. First option was to take off his clothes and climb in with her.  He liked that option.  The idea of burying himself inside her had him biting back a groan. Yeah no, no naked. He'd have to go in clothed.
He removed his phone and put it on top of the toilet. When he opened the glass door, her eyes flared. "What are you doing?"
"To make this work properly, you need to be under the stream of water right?"
     She nodded.
     "Okay then, I'm getting wet."
     "Oh, uh..." Her voice trailed.
"Do you want my help or not?"
"I do. Sorry. I guess I just didn’t think this all the way through."
He clamped his jaw together. The sooner you help her, the sooner you can go back to your room and take a cold one. Once in the stream of the shower, her scent surrounded him and he knew he was going to lose the battle and the war. He was already losing a grip on his control and he hadn't even touched her yet. "Uh, just stand in the stream and I'll rinse you out. While you're at it, give me the wide-tooth comb."
"Oh, you don't have to do that. I'll manage."
"Don't be silly. I'm in here, I'm wet and I know how to detangle hair."
A light flush stained her cheeks. "While I believe you've probably done this before, I, uh, black hair is different."
He blinked at her, the laugh rushing out of him just like always. He never knew what was going to come out of her mouth. "I guess I should have probably mentioned four of my sisters are black, or half black anyway. Two of them with hair curlier than yours. I got this."
Her jaw unhinged and she did a guppy routine for a moment, then she handed over the wide-tooth comb. "Have at it."
"Turn around." Damn, why did his voice sound so hoarse? When she did, the water ran though her hair, rinsing out the conditioner and he massaged the rest out with the pads of his fingers. In front of him, Kiss groaned and let her head relax back into the scalp massage he was giving her. The towel she clutched was soaked and no doubt heavy by this point.
He forced his mind to go blank as he rinsed and massaged. Gently, he began to detangle her hair, starting in sections from the ends to the roots. Growing up, he'd had to help get Brooklyn and Max ready for school sometimes, so he knew what he was doing. When he was done, he couldn't keep his hand out of the softness of her hair and he kept finger detangling.
Slowly she turned into him, blinking up at him through wet, sooty lashes. "Th-thank you. I couldn't have done that myself and it went much faster."
The first step in dealing with a problem was admitting he had a problem. He was fighting the pull, but it had been an uphill battle from the minute he saw her. If he was Clark Kent, she was his Kryptonite. "Kiss, I--fuck it." He cupped the back of her head and pulled her into him. Before melding their lips together, he paused, giving her an out, but she didn't protest. Instead, her fingers dug into his soaked T-shirt and dragged him closer.
When he slid his lips over hers, need took over and all brain function ceased.

First off, can you tell us a bit about you?
Oh I’m just your average Ghanaian/American girl who lives in sunny San Diego with an American husband who thinks my family is crazy.  My Big Fat Greek Wedding has nothing on us.  In my infinite spare time, I chase around my two year old trying to tame her wild mane of hair, try and corral my spunky Scottie and occasionally let my hubby pamper me.

Did you always want to be a writer?
I honestly didn’t even thing being a writer was an option.  With strict Ghanaian parents, the only viable options were doctor, lawyer, or engineer.  May parents had a small heart attack when I didn’t become either of those and a minor stroke when I started writing, but they survived and I’m much happier.

What kind of writer are you? Panster or Plotter?
A little of both.  I do a quick short outline, then let it flow from there.  I used to have this crazy outline, but soon felt stifled.

Where do your ideas come from?
God only knows.  I get a root of an idea from movies, magazines, books, and conversations with friends.

Out of any of your books, which one would you like to be a character in? And why?
Any of the Protectors books of course.  I’m dying for my own superpower.

What are some of your favorite kinds of stories to read?
Anything romance.  Particularly romantic suspense, paranormal romance or contemporary romance.

Do you have a favorite book and if so what is it?
Pride and Prejudice.

Have you ever fallen for another author's hero? If so, who and why?
Of course.  From Pride and Prejudice to Jane Eyre, to any Nora Roberts book I’ve ever read.  That’s the point of romance books.  You’re supposed to fall in love with the hero.

Describe the characteristics that make up your perfect hero.
Strong of mind, kind hearted, funny and excellent stamina ;)

What are the scenes that are the hardest for you to write?
Family scenes.  As a writer it’s a struggle not to put our own family dynamics into every scene.

If you could have dinner with any three book characters, who would you choose and why?
Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird – Because she was spunky and courageous. Lizzie Bennett from Pride and Prejudice because she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind. And Emma Corrigan from Can You Keep a Secret because she’s hilarious.

If you could have dinner with any three authors, who would you choose and why?
Nora Roberts cause I would love to pick her brain. Mark Matherbane, because he changed my life, and JK Rowling because her imagination is so incredibly detailed.

What do you like to do in your free time?
What free time.  I’m always writing, or reading, or chasing hubby, kiddo or dog.  But if the stars do align, I read.

Favorite movie?
Right now, Magic Mike – Don’t Judge

Favorite song?
Brown Eyed Girl

Favorite color?
Purple

Last question, are you working on anything right now?
Yeppers.  I’m working on the next Donovans Books, and the next In Stilettos Series books.

Due to adult situations, recommended for readers 18+

Pussy came easy. But then, for Xander Chase, most things came easy.
As he slid a glance over the lithe, naked back of the blonde in front of him and he locked his teeth, he wished some things came easier than others. It didn't matter how much his balls ached or how much sweat dripped off his brow, there’d be no relief for him, no matter how many times he had her.
As she moaned, writhed, and shouted things that were dirty enough to make any porn star blush, he fought to stay focused. She was a means to an end. Unfortunately for him, that end wasn’t pleasure. More like revenge. She had information he needed. And she, like half the women in London, was susceptible to the Chase charm.
She screamed through her orgasm and Xander just wanted it to be over. A means to an end. And also, Alistair’s wife. Screwing her was one more domino on his way to taking down the man he hated.
His brain did him the favor of replaying the night over and over and over again. Every decision he’d made. Every step that had led him here. How well she’d sucked his cock on the way to Notting Hill. The slide of her tongue over the length of him as he spun his Huyra over the rain slick streets of London. The feel of her pussy milking his cock. Her brazen offer for him to have her any way he wanted.
But he had zero desire to come. And no amount of fucking this nearly nameless, faceless blonde would solve that. After today, he’d barely remember her because he had what he needed. Hell, he could barely remember her name as it was. Gemma? Jemima? Julia? Something J-sounding. Bugger, he really did have to get better with names. But he would remember whose wife she was.
What mattered was she had unfettered access to information he needed, and he’d found the way to access it. Not like there’d be a repeat performance anyway. She was just another nameless J-sounding blonde. Who can give you the keys to the kingdom.
He pulled away from her and she made a half-hearted, feeble attempt to reach for him. Who was she kidding? That was orgasm number four for her. She’d be out cold in seconds.
He slid the satin sheet over her naked form and sat on the edge of his bed. His dick twitched as if to remind him of how he got into this mess in the first place. He scrubbed a hand down his face. Two hours of J-girl blowing him and him shagging her till there was a sheen of sweat over both their bodies and he still couldn’t come. Not that he’d ever expected to. And after all, that wasn’t the point of all this. Not that it wouldn’t have been nice.
He sat there for several minutes until her deep, even breathing alerted him to her slumber. Right. Time to go to work. He tugged on his boxer briefs and slipped into the living room where she’d dropped her bag.
He made sure he kept an eye on the bedroom door as he booted up her laptop. Thanks to one tequila too many, and his very skilled hands working their magic under her panties, she’d told him everything he needed to know to take a decent stab at her password. He got it on the third try. Cat’s name. He didn't bother to roll his eyes.
When he was done copying all the files to his external hard drive, he shut down her computer and slid it back into her bag before silently stalking back into the bedroom. She was still knocked out, but the sheet had shifted slightly, exposing her bare arse. Fuck, maybe he should have taken her up on her offer to fuck her however he wanted.
He scowled at his straining erection. His cock begged him to go back to bed. To give it another go in the hopes that this time would be different. That she would be different. But he knew better. What was the definition of insanity again? No point in going back to it, mate, it won’t do any good. He could fuck the blonde for another five hours and there would be no relief for him. No respite, no bliss. He’d stay hard as a rock. As it was, he’d fucked her into a dead stupor and he could have kept going.
There was only one way to relieve the gnawing, clawing hunger. But knowing the solution didn’t mean he wanted to go through with it. Get in the shower. Release the tension. Then call the cleaning crew to deal with the unwanted guest. Most importantly ignore that niggling thought at the back of his skull. That tiny voice telling him the kind of man he was. Telling him that inside, he was beyond buggered. Truly fucked up and there’d be no respite for him. This was his personal hell.

Who doesn’t love a little control?
When I first wrote London Bound the predecessor to London Calling, I had originally intended it as a single title.  There was no story for the gorgeous, but cocky brother. He was a stock character…or at least he was intended that way. But true to form, Xander wouldn’t stay in a corner for long.

Even as I wrote London Bound, out came his personality. And he just screamed, “I’m a bad boy who needs someone brave enough to love me.” And boy did he ever. But still, I was hesitant to write a story for him.

London Bound was a story based very loosely on a part of my life. Alas if you troll the streets of London you won’t find an Alexi or a Xander, but you might find the places and friends that influenced the first book. As I wrote, I could see the places I’d been, hear the voices of my friends. Relive our adventures. Writing that book flew by. Xander was a blank template that refused to flow.

We fought, we argued, I threw him in the bin. I tried to forget him. I threatened lobotomy. But he just kept coming back each night in all his sexiness, with a smirk and an attitude demanding his story told his way. It wasn’t until I finally relinquished control and let him do exactly what he wanted that the story flowed. And boy did it ever flow. Xander is the kind of bad boy you love to hate, then you love to love.

Writing London Calling has been like a time machine and a London holiday rolled into one. It’s got old friends, familiar settings, a bad boy who can’t help but cause trouble and a heroine strong enough to handle him.

I’m so thrilled to finally bring you Xander and Imani’s story in his own words.
