Dark Lashes by Felice Fox

Title: Dark Lashes
Author: Felice Fox
Series: Cameron Ranch #4
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: May 31, 2015
Summary:
When Talia Iverson’s never-ending search for love takes a desperate turn, she skips out on her Hollywood starlet clientele hoping to disappear on her uncle’s ranch in western Montana. Training livestock guard dogs seems the perfect diversion—protect the wolf pack living on Iverson Ranch, and her uncle’s cattle. But when a son of their neighboring ranch suspiciously offers to help her track and ID the wolf pack, Talia discovers what it really means to tangle with a predator.

Rancher Abel Cameron is the most dangerous kind of bad boy—when he’s wicked, he means it. Convinced the shared, open relationship he’s in is the only kind that will tolerate his dark sexual needs, Abel knows he won’t ever be the primary man in any woman’s life. But when Talia Iverson shows up to protect the wolf pack denned up on his neighbor’s ranch, he sees her for who she is—a lost soul who could break open his cold, jammed up heart. And he’s just reckless enough to show her how to do it.

They rode north for an hour toward the timber, following the river, then turned west and ascended into the mountains. It wasn’t long before Abel spotted the hunter orange ribbon Uncle Cal had left as a marker on a low branch and easily located the tracks in dried mud. Abel swung down from his horse and got to Talia just as she was sliding off. His hand rode up her sides, exposing her bare skin to the air and she shivered, pulling her shirt and jacket back down without turning to look at him. She felt the heat of his gaze on her, though.
     It was a constant.
He looked at her like it was his right to do so. He kinda looked at everything that way.
Abel walked off to examine the tracks.
“One’s been here recently, but no way to know if that’s our pack or a lone wolf passing through. Doesn’t look like the rendezvous area, though.” Abel crouched and Talia did the same.
The sheer size of the print took her breath away, unlike any canine footprint she’d ever seen. She laughed softly.
“I wondered if I would be able to tell the difference between a dog print and a wolf…”
     Abel chuckled, too.
“Yeah, no mistaking it.” The set of prints in the mud were huge, as big as a man’s hand. Abel stretched and walked ahead. The approving tone of his voice, the tease of a shared moment, prickled over the back of her neck, so she rubbed it away.
As they walked their horses up and over a ridge, Abel spotted something in a draw below. When Talia realized he was reaching for his rifle, all calm left her, her veins flooded with adrenaline and she seized his upper arm. Her fingers gripped hard against unexpectedly stout muscle. Abel dropped his gaze slowly, first to her hand, then up to her eyes, which were now stinging.
“Don’t. Please. You gave me your word,” she said in a choked whisper.
He shook his head, crossing his big hand over his chest and placing it over hers. A warming sensation in her pussy came on fast, threatening to seep lower and buckle her knees. Not for the first time, Talia wondered what the hell she had gotten herself into? Should have started with an easier man, someone passive, a push over. Instead she’d gone straight for the big guns.
“You don’t know anything about hunting, do you?” he asked, still watching her.
She swallowed in response; an audible answer seemed unnecessary.
Abel released her hand, took the rifle down slow and enveloped her from behind, lifting the wood stock of his Winchester along her cheek so Talia could see through the scope.
     “You see him now?”
Abel’s breath. On her neck. She forced herself to shimmy forward.
     “I see him. He’s beautiful.”
At the far end of a clearing below, encircled by patches of trees, a bulky, tawny-brown elk rested, carrying a regal tower of velvety antlers. Looking through the scope, the bull seemed so very close. Abel shifted closer to keep a good grip on the rifle since she wasn’t touching it, a part of her still protesting what she had believed he was about to do. He was a sturdy wall of heat capturing her from behind. For the moment, he had reason to mold himself against her this way.
“Our wolf is long gone,” he said, deeply, slowly.
     “How do you know?”
“If he were still around that bull wouldn’t be so calm.”
     “Oh.”
Abel let her watch for a few moments longer.
     “Ready?”
She nodded, the circle and crosshairs disappearing and the scene before her expanding fast into a mass of trees and brush and the big elk, blending into the muddy browns and greens of the thick underbrush, leaving her dazed. Abel returned to his horse to tuck the gun away, then helped Talia onto hers. She had no idea where they were headed next, but clearly Abel did, moving forward, weaving through trees without hesitation.
     “Where to now?”
     “Not far.”
They’d been on the trail most of the day and the sky was just beginning to grow dark. Being in the chilly woods, seeing the wolf tracks and knowing how close they were to these majestic beasts had gentled and quieted her heart, at the same time a current of fear buzzed her limbs. She stayed close to Abel as they rode another ten minutes, descending along the creek bank. Here Abel pointed to elk tracks in the sandy terrain, though he didn’t dismount. Instead he continued to follow the stream, which curved gently to the right then, somewhat suddenly, disappeared into heavy timber.
Though the light had been fading, it dropped quickly, along with what was left of the afternoon warmth, when they entered those woods and began to climb again. Talia was about to mention that she didn’t want to be making camp in the dark, when Abel pulled up Shiloh and faced her, indicating over his shoulder with a quick turn of his head.
Behind him, tucked back in the trees and overhanging the stream, was a small, moss-covered log cabin with a single bay window, which took up almost an entire side of the structure. A rope bridge dipped from the far side of the cabin, suspended over the river. It looked like something from a fairy story.
“My granddad helped Cal’s father build it in the sixties. We’ll bed down there for the night and keep an eye on the trail.”
Talia removed her camera from her pocket. Of all the photos she’d taken on the trip, this was the one she most wanted to post, the one which proved she wasn’t in Southern California anymore. She was somewhere more magical and more real than anything Hollywood could dream up.
She imagined standing eerily in the darkened window, water rushing over rocks below, the whole scene lit by moonlight as she kept watch. Alone. Protected. But in her mind’s eye, Abel came up unexpectedly from behind like he’d done with the rifle, shirtless this time, resting his chin on her shoulder, slipping his hands under her plush pajama top, kissing her neck, her cheek.
Talia shook her head to chase away the images of pure fantasy—delicate and romantic and not at all consistent with her experience of this man. A soft “oh” escaped her when she realized she’d caught her mind wandering somewhere unsafe, turned it around and walked it back to where she could protect it.
     That was new.
“It looks abandoned,” she said, her voice a little cold.
“If you prefer to sleep outside, I can build a nice fire. I can warm you from behind.”
     “Inside is fine, Abel.”
     He continued on.
Talia turned her horse, leading it uphill toward the cabin, struggling to keep her mind safe from visions of the Abel she did know; the one who, if she shared his sleeping bag, would pull down her pajama bottoms to expose her naked butt and press himself against it, hands grasping her waist, teeth biting her neck, claiming with his whole body the parts of herself she so desperately wanted claimed.      He’d push her. He’d take everything if she let him.

Mina Carter's Smut Shorties Spotlight

Author Bio:
Mina was born and raised in the East Farthing of Middle Earth (otherwise known as the Midlands, England) and spend her childhood learning all the sorts of things generally required of a professional adventurer. Able to ride, box, shoot, make and read maps, make chainmail and use a broadsword (with varying degrees of efficiency) she was disgusted to find that adventuring is not considered a suitable occupation these days.

So, instead of slaying dragons and hunting vampires and the like, Mina spends her days writing about hot shifters, government conspiracies and vampire lords with more than their fair share of RAWR. Turns out wanna-be adventurers have quite the turn of imagination after all...

(But she keeps that sword sharp, just in case the writing career is just a dream and she really *is* an adventurer.)

The boring part: A full time author and cover artist, Mina can usually be found hunched over a keyboard or graphics tablet, frantically trying to get the images and words in her head out and onto the screen before they drive her mad. She's addicted to coffee and would like to be addicted to chocolate, but unfortunately chocolate dislikes her.

Release Day Blitz: Obsession by Eden Bradley

Title: Obsession
Author: Eden Bradley
Series: Ink & Iron #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: February 24, 2015
Summary:
He could have it all… but all he wants is her.

During his soaring career as the lead singer of indie-rock band Ink & Iron, Cole Kennrick has been through it all: sex, drugs, and rock and roll. Overindulging until he lost what mattered most.

Now he’s pulled his life together and left his addictions behind, except for one: his ex-wife, Janie. If only he can convince her their love was—still is—the real thing.

In the seven years since their divorce, Janie has kept tabs on the only man she’s ever truly loved. The one she had to leave in order to save herself. Still, dark and often kinky desires they explored together linger in her dreams and fantasies.

Janie has seen up close and way-too-personal that rock stars are bad, bad medicine. But when Cole shows up at her yoga studio, clean and sober, his leather-and-motorcycles scent teasing her senses, it’s way too tempting to slip right back into the one place she swore she’d never risk again—his arms.

Cole was leaning against the doorframe, one arm braced over his head in a relaxed pose only the most confident of men could pull off. He wore a black button-down shirt edged in blue stitching that brought out the icy blue of his eyes, and it was fitted enough that she could see the breadth of his shoulders straining against the fabric. The sleeves fit his biceps perfectly, as if molded there, and the fit of his jeans made her entire body ache with need.
“Hey, Janie girl. You look beautiful.”
She blinked. Focused on his mouth. Oh, that was not any better. Or it was, but…
     “Um…you find the place okay?”
     “Yeah, no problem.”
“Good.” She grabbed her purse from the console table next to the door. “I’m ready to go.”
He paused, clearly wanting her to invite him in, but she knew she was doomed if she did that. Cole Kennrick and her, alone in her apartment? A very bad idea.
     Or a very good one.
     Stop it.
She looked up to find his gaze on hers, a smoldering blue that went right through her like a physical sensation—warm and intense.
     “Cole?”
All he did was reach out and run a finger under her chin, but he may as well have put his hand between her thighs. That touch and his steady gaze on hers were working like some kind of wild aphrodisiac. Her legs went weak. Her sex went hot. Her mind went numb. When he stepped forward, she didn’t say a word. When he moved closer, using his big body to press her back, and closed the door behind him, she didn’t resist. She remembered this about him—how could she ever forget?—the way he used his tall, muscled frame to command her, to wrestle her into submission without even a word. But oh, when the words came, they were exactly the right ones to get her to shift gears in her head. To allow her to give herself over.
She hadn’t wanted to talk about the power play, but it was happening. It was too much a part of who Cole was—so naturally dominant despite his laid-back persona—and too much a part of who they were together. Submissive and Dominant. Absolute trust. Absolute vulnerability.
There were alarm bells going off in her head. She ignored them as he leaned in and kissed her.
Really kissed her—not like that brief brush of lips at her yoga studio. This time it started with a soft press of his beautiful, lush mouth to hers. Then again, and again. His hand wrapped around the back of her head, holding her closer so he could kiss her harder, and she was damned if she wasn’t the first one to open her mouth and invite him in.
She really was in trouble then. His tongue slipped in, hot and wet and sweet, and began to explore.      Except it wasn’t some slow exploration—it was more as if he would die if he couldn’t kiss her, taste her, drink her in. And she was kissing him back every bit as hungrily.
His hands slid down to her waist. She dropped her purse to the floor as her arms went around his neck and she breathed him in. Oh yes, it was Cole, all right. Like pure sex to her. He yanked her in tight and she gasped, but the sound was lost in his kiss—he was swallowing her up, or she was melting into him. She wasn’t sure. Didn’t matter. All that mattered was his mouth on hers, his arms holding her tight, the crush of her breasts against the firm wall of his chest. Oh, and the hard ridge of his arousal pressing against her belly.
Her nipples were just as hard, almost grating against the lace of her bra. She wanted out of it now.      Had she ever been this turned on in her life?
     Only with him.
She kissed him harder, with everything she had. She’d had no idea how badly she needed this, needed him.
When he lifted her and turned, pressing her back against the door, she let out a moan. She’d always loved the way he handled her—as if she weighed nothing, yet knowing she wasn’t fragile, that she could take some roughness.
     She liked it rough.
He grabbed both her wrists in one of his big hands and raised them over her head, held them against the wood door. Pressing against her with his hips, essentially trapping her with his body, he pulled back to demand, his tone harsh with desire, “Janie. You know me. You know what I am. I have to ask you for your consent. Say yes. Or tell me to stop right now.”
     “Cole…”
“Tell me. Tell me to stop. Or tell me yes.”
     “God, Cole…yes.”

The Social Club by John Crusey

Title: The Social Club
Author: John Crusey
Genre: Suspense, Thriller
Summary:
It's said that a little knowledge can be dangerous. If that knowledge is about the Social Club it can be deadly. That's what 70-year-old, Mack McCormick learns when he stumbles onto the biggest story of his career as a newspaperman. Will he live to see it printed? The odds are against him.

“Yeah, that guy who was hit by the train the other morning – apparently it was no accident, the sheriff’s office is trying to figure if it was a suicide or murder.  And to top it off, somebody burned the guy’s house down last night.”
“Shit!” Will snorts and shakes his head, then remembers something else, and gets out of his chair, walking over to Mack,  “Hey, you want to see another local tragedy?” the young reporter asks, picking the newspaper up off of the table and opening it to page two, where the obituaries are always printed.  Handing the paper back, Will is pointing at the picture of a beautiful young woman.  “Look at this.”
Mack reads, “Betsy Fullenkamp, age 19 died at the home of her parents Saturday evening…”  “Nineteen?  Was she sick?” Mack asks.
“No, the police are definitely calling that one a suicide.  She hung herself.  Her mom found her in the basement swinging from the end of a clothesline.  The other end was tied around a sewer line.  Apparently she kicked a little stool out from under her.  They said her feet were less than six inches off the floor.”
     “Damn.”
“I knew her,” Will says.  “They live less than a block from me.  Most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, and a personality to match.  Bubbly and outgoing, she would have done anything for anybody.  Brains too, graduated at the top of her class last year, and was always on the dean’s list down at Miami, in Oxford.  So much going for her, and she throws it all away.  She had it all.”
Betsy doesn’t say another word getting out of the car.  When she closes the rear door, the men drive away, leaving her standing in the parking lot, alone.  I can’t tell anyone what happened.  Who would believe me?  Who can I even trust?  The judge, a lawyer, the sheriff’s men, they were all in on this. What do I do?

Author Bio:
John Crusey lives in Piqua, Ohio with his wonderful wife, Kathy, and their two cats, Mama and Earl.  Totally disabled in 1998, John began searching for activities that he could still take part in.  Writing grabbed him and hasn't let go.  Because of writing, John now says that being disabled was one of the best things that ever happened to him.  It also gave him the opportunity to learn a great deal about himself.  He wrote a weekly column for a local newspaper for about two years, and has sold several magazine articles.  Chicken Soup for the Recovering Soul used one of John's stories as their lead.  In 2012, his first eBook, Ella, came out.  Ella is a fictionalized account of the life of one of John's close friends.  Everything that happens to Ella in the story is true, but names and geography are changed to keep her true identity hidden.  Through a long struggle, John has regained a lot of what he'd lost when he was disabled, and he enjoys riding his tadpole, recumbent trike on Piqua's beautiful bike path every chance he gets.

Audiobook Blitz: Outing the Quarterback by Tara Lain

Title: Outing the Quarterback
Author: Tara Lain
Series: Long Pass Chronicles
Genre: M/M Romance, Sports
Narrator: John-Paul Barrel
Summary:
A Novel in the Long Pass Chronicles

Will Ashford lives in two closets. He meets his wealthy father’s goals as both the quarterback for the famous SCU football team and a business major, but secretly he attends art school and longs to live as a painter. And he's gay. But if he can win the coveted Milton Scholarship for art, he’ll be able to break from his father at the end of his senior year.

In a painting master class, Will meets his divergent opposite, Noah Zajack. A scarred orphan who’s slept on park benches and eaten from trash cans, Noah carefully plans his life and multiple jobs so he has money and time to go to art school. Will's problems seem like nothing compared to Noah's. Noah wants the scholarship too and may have a way to get it since the teacher of his class has designs on him, a plan Will isn't happy about.

Noah stuck to his back as Will collapsed onto the narrow bed. The weight felt so wonderful. His ass felt so wonderful. His heart felt pretty damned good too. He’d made that cool, cynical artist with all the top experience lose it. Better than a fifty-yard pass.
His heart hammered against the bed while Noah’s beat against his back. It actually tickled. Will murmured, “We got a two-drum concert going on.”
“Yeah.” Noah’s chest expanded as he drew a breath; then he rolled and flopped on his back. His right shoulder hung off the bed.
Will turned on his side, tucked an arm over Noah, and pulled him closer. “Don’t want you falling off.” Actually, he missed the guy’s warmth and wanted him near.
Quiet. Breathing. What to say now?
Noah chuckled. “Who’d have guessed you’d be a bottom? And such an enthusiastic one.” Well, shit. Will pushed up on his forearm. Noah grabbed him. “That was no lie I love it.”
Will collapsed back to the bed and stared into Noah’s blue, blue eyes.
Noah brushed hair off his forehead. The mane fell over his shoulder. He looked like a painting. “So what now?”
“You do have a way of getting to the point, Tas.” Will cocked an eyebrow.
“No time to play games. You’re the one with all the closets.”
Shit, yeah. Will sighed and pushed up on his elbow, then to sitting. “Don’t you think it’s a little too soon to kill the afterglow?”
Noah shrugged. He flopped on his back. “I’ve got an early class tomorrow, so I can’t ask you to spend the night.”
     “I have to go anyway.”
     “Back into the closet.”
Will frowned. “You knew about me before you fucked me.”
“Yep. But your ass turned me on more than your made-up life turned me off.”
“I don’t know whether to be insulted or flattered.”
Noah flashed that half smile. “Your choice.”
Will stared at the beautiful, scarred, cynical face. “Maybe you’re just too tough for me, Tas.”
The blue eyes riveted him. “Also your choice.”
Will breathed in slowly through his nose. Every hour of his lying life felt like a low ache in his heart. This was different. More like a knife or a big needle. Weird. He didn’t know this guy. He’d gotten what he wanted—a hot poke in the butt. But the desire to have Noah care about him beat like a pulse.
He unfolded himself from the bed and scooted to the floor. Noah didn’t move.
Pants with briefs inside went on first, then his sneakers, then his sweater. Only the sound of rustling clothing interfered with the silence.
He walked to the door. Should he look back? No way, he couldn’t. He turned his head. Noah lay with one arm curved above him on the bed. His lean body looked as relaxed as his cock. His eyes were watchful.
Will nodded. “Thanks. It was great.” He opened the door and walked out.
Cool air hit him and made him shiver, but it wasn’t as cold as his big exit.

Word Count: 82,345
Release Date: December 21, 2014

***18+ for adult situations and language***
Summary:
Lexi’s determined to keep her word and stand by Raven’s side because her love for him is too strong to deny.  As Raven learns to deal with the issues that are destined to destroy him and their relationship, their love is taken to a new level. As doors are closed and new ones are opened, Lexi and Raven find themselves in a heavenly bliss, but not without the challenges from Raven’s past. With a true test of love, Lexi and Raven have to decide if they are willing to do whatever it takes to be on the winning side.

Delaney held up a light pink sweater to her chest. “This is hideous. You have to trash this thing.” She flung it behind her.
“Hey, I like that sweater.” I dashed after it and then gave it a once over and agreed with her. It was something my mom had bought for me and it had Betty Homemaker written all over it with pearl buttons and a jacquard trim. I shoved it in the return-home bag. “I think coming back to the dorm will be good for both of us. When Raven’s having a bad day, I can just come back here so he can have some time to himself. Time to process whatever he’s going through.”
And time to fight his demons.
“And you trust that he will be okay.” She threw one of my skirts over her head. “He won’t plunge off the edge and go back to where he was, will he?”
“I’ll check on him. It’s not like I won’t see him. And if needed, you can take me to his apartment, right?”
     “Yeah, of course.”
“Who’s apartment?” Raven stood in the doorway carrying my bags.
“Your apartment, silly.” I smiled at him, trying to displace any unnecessary fear or jealously. Although Raven hadn’t seemed liked the jealous type, I wanted to keep it that way. That was one less thing I didn’t have to worry about in our relationship.
“Hey, what’s this?” Delaney held up a pink and silver Victoria Secret’s gift card.
“Where did you get that?” I said taking it from her hand.
“It was buried in your clothes.” She pointed to the mound on my bed.
Raven looked over my shoulder as I opened the flap.
Have fun shopping with Raven. Love, Dad.
“Holy shit. Is he serious?” I looked at Raven and he smiled. Was my dad trying to make up for my mom going bat shit crazy and burning all the lingerie Raven had bought me?
     Sweet.
“Damn!” Raven covered his mouth with his fist. “Three hundred bucks. We can buy you a lot of sexy stuff.” Raven cocked a brow. “When are we going?”
“Whenever you want.”  I eyed him with a hungry stare. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t seem to get enough of him.
     Of his taste.
     Of his touch.
     Of his scent.
I was permanently caught in The Raven’s trap. And I wondered if he was really done with setting out his bait and happy with the catch he’d caught. Time would only tell. I shook my head, trying to calm my ranging hormones.
“Is that it?” I asked, looking at the two bags by the door.
“What do you mean, is that it?”  He huffed, gripping his waist. “I brought up like five bags. And there’s still more at my apartment.”
“I’m sorry.” I walked past him and headed for the closet. “I didn’t ask my dad to bring me all of my clothes.”
“I know.” He grabbed my hand and spun me around. I slammed against his body and rested my hands against his broad chest. “If you’d just stay with me, then we wouldn’t have to be hauling all of your stuff back and forth.”
His scent laced around me, making it difficult to stand my ground. “But I am going to stay with you.”
“Yeah, but not every night.” He pressed his lips to the sensitive part of my neck and my mind quickly forgot why I had talked myself in to coming back to the dorm. “I need a little bit of this every night.” He popped me on the butt and I squealed.
“Okay, I’m outta here.” Delaney dropped the clothes in her hand.
“No. I need your advice.” I tried to wiggle out of Raven’s arms, but he only held me tighter. “I need you to help me pick out clothes that will make me look sexy.” I glanced up at Raven and he let out a low growl as he continued to nibble on my neck, not paying any attention to Delaney. I leaned to the side, trying to break free, even though I really didn’t want to. “Raven, stop.” I pleaded with a tone that said yes, more than it said no.
“Looks like you’re about to get undressed so I’ll help you later.” Delaney step aside and headed for the door.
“Thanks, Delaney.” Raven said as he kicked off his shoes and started to pull off his shirt. His stomach tensed and I caught a nice view of his elegantly chiseled abs.
“Shit, I almost forgot.” Delaney turned around before pulling the door shut. “Whoa! Can you wait until I get out? I don’t need a glimpse of the freak show.”
“Hurry.” Raven tossed his shirt on the chair. “I don’t have all day.”
Delaney’s eyes landed directly on Raven’s midsection for a full count of three before she finally tore them away and looked at me. “Do y’all want to grab a pizza with Luke and me later?”
Raven looked at me, waiting for a response. “I’m game if you are,” I said, feeling the hunger pains bubble up in my stomach.
His lips spread into a full smile. “Sure, but I’m game for something else first.” Raven encircled his arms around me and pressed his lips against my ear as his hands wondered up and down my backside.
“What time Delaney?” I grabbed his arms, trying to restrain him from feeling me up in front of my roommate. He stretched his neck, trying to kiss me. I laughed, unable to resist his tempting offer. After all, I was already in his trap and I was there to stay.
“Is an hour long enough?” Delaney appraised Raven from head to toe and then gave me a wide-eyed warning.
“No, but we’ll make it work.” He said, undressing me with his eyes.
I giggled as Raven picked me up and tossed me on the bed, landing on top of my clothes.
“I warned you, Lexi,” Delaney said, as she pulled the door shut.
     “I know. But I can’t resist The Raven’s trap.”
