Landslide & Second Chances by NJ Cole

Landslide
Summary:
Senator Maxwell Joseph has it all—money, power, and good looks—the trifecta when it comes to attracting the ladies. He even has women willing to be tied up, spanked, and completely at his mercy, all while calling him Daddy, fulfilling his secret fantasy. On the night of his thirty-fifth birthday, Max finds a goddess waiting for him in his hotel room. She is beautiful, sexy, and very willing, yet the fruit she offers is very forbidden. Not only is she barely legal at nineteen, but she also happens to be the daughter of his best friend and political advisor. Mackenzie Wade has had a crush on the senator for years. When an overheard phone call affords her the opportunity she needs to make her fantasies a reality, Kenzie jumps at the chance, offering herself as a birthday gift. Throwing caution to the wind, Max gives in to temptation and gives them both what they have been yearning for—a night filled with ropes, floggers, and toe-curling sex. Although satiated, one night of passion isn’t enough for either of them, and they begin a clandestine affair. For Maxwell, the solid ground on which he’s built his career starts to shift as his hopes and dreams for the future begin to change. In what can only be described as a landslide, Max holds on tight to the only thing that he can—Kenzie. He goes on the ride of his life, knowing all along that in the end, he may have to make a gut-wrenching decision between the woman of his dreams and a path to the White House.

This story is sexually charged, at times kinkily and other times lovingly and then again sometimes they’re combined in ways that most of us probably only dream about.  When you throw in the dangers of political scandals and age differences, not to mention the girl in question being your best friend’s daughter, NJ has taken us on a trip that only she could tell.

Will the good Senator be able to move on after sampling his birthday gift? Or will he find himself craving more and more?
Leaning down, I kissed her lips softly. Our first kiss. It wasn’t driven by sexual
need; we had both been satiated enough. No, this kiss was more. It was a way of
expressing our thanks for giving each other what we needed. It was soft and sweet, long
and deep.
When we finally broke apart, I decided I was going to do something I had never
done with any of the girls in the past. I was planning to ask her if she would like to stay
the night. Before I could say anything, though, she spoke.
“Thank you, Senator Joseph,” she said, getting out of the bed. “I really hope that
you enjoyed your present.”
Will Mackenzie be able to put her childhood crush behind her after finally having a taste?  Or will she never get enough?
Before he could say a word, I left his room and slipped out the back of the house.
I had considered calling Mark, who’d asked me to go to a party with him, but in the end, I didn’t.
I didn’t blame Senator Joseph, but I couldn’t handle the rejection again. Going
back to my original plan from the Fourth of July, I vowed that if he wanted me, he’d have
to be the one to initiate our next encounter.
There are so many amazing moments in this story, erotic, romantic, and dramatic.  I have to say one of my more favorable and memorable quotes from the book is from the inner monologue of Senator Joseph regarding a third party wrench trying to throw herself into the fine tuned contraption we call Love.
Everyone could see what was under her dress—with what little of it there was. It was
strapless, hot pink, and barely covered her ass. Honestly, it looked like a bottle of
Pepto Bismol threw up on a strip of material. Her breasts, which were clearly fake,
were pressed up and together, and I wasn’t sure how her nipples weren’t showing.
A truly sexy read, political possibilities, and romantic journey. It sucked me in and I just couldn't let it go!!

Second Chances
Summary:
Calla Moretti married her college sweetheart, Bill. Married life was great at first, but as his career had her dropping out of college and moving away from her family and friends, Calla struggled with her role as a wife and homemaker. Stress, due to infertility and Bill’s affairs, had the marriage on the brink of failure.
When she drives home in the middle of a thunderstorm and spots first a broken down motorcycle, then the sexy rider, she decides to take a chance and offer him assistance. Realizing fate brought her together with a man who could give her the one thing her husband couldn’t—a baby—Calla decides to take a chance.
One romantic night, one big lie, will it save her marriage or fill her heart with more emptiness? Will this be the answer to her prayers? In life, are there truly second chances?

We follow Calla who really wants to have a child and thinks that doing so could be able to save her marriage to the local Chief of Police Bill.  Will fate give her desperation the kick in the right direction to save her marriage or save herself?

The characters grab hold of your hearts and you just can’t help but cheer for them and maybe  jeer for a certain policeman.  You want to see them get what they deserve, what life has so far kept just out of reach.

It's pretty easy to see what the end result for Calla will be but for me it was more fun seeing how she got there not just where.

Landslide
There were a million reasons I shouldn’t do this. She was barely legal. She was the daughter of my top advisor...and best friend. I wasn’t prepared. We didn’t have any sort of contract. I had no clue what her limits were. It just seemed wrong, yet all of that flew out the window when she looked up at me and licked her lips.

Second Chances
Last night was wonderful, but I can’t stay. I’m sorry.~ C
