After a late night accident, Piper isn’t in her hometown burying her loved one. She’s in a town called Hell. All she wants to do is leave, but the people seem to be holding her there for some reason.
A reason she feels threatens her life. Around every corner things become darker and scarier.
Can she escape what is coming for her?
I love stuff that scares me without all the gore. Just creepy stuff. The thing that scares me the most is freaky kids, so when I read about the black-eyed children, I thought, this is perfect. It was hard staying away from romance. There is a very small amount in this book. Like two chapters. Mainly, I wanted to focus on putting the main character in the scariest situation I could think of.
When writing a book, what is your favorite part of the creative process(outline, plot, character names, editing, etc)?
The editing! Sounds crazy right? But I love getting to read over the finished project with all the help from my editors. That makes the writing so much stronger. And come on, the editing is the last step. That’s an amazing feeling!
When reading a book, what genre do you find most interesting/intriguing?
Paranormal of any kind for sure. Writers can literally do anything with it. That genre is always my go to when I need a read.
If you could co-author with any author, past or present, who would you choose?
Hmmm … This one is really tough. I guess it would depend on the genre. If it were a romance I would go with Rachel Van Dyken. Her books always crack me up, and she has the awesome ability to make just a kiss scene sound freaking HOT! If it was a horror/thriller Joe Hart. His books put you in the middle of the scare and make the hairs on your neck stand! Fantasy/Paranormal I would go with Amy Bartol. The way she puts words together, just beautiful!
Have you always wanted to write or did it come to you "later in life"?
Kind of happened both ways. I started out in school writing poetry, those “in ten years” things for my classmates (You know like John Brown will be slapping burgers together at McDonald’s in ten years with an ex wife and twenty kids from all his side chicks), and quizzes that used to be really popular in magazines. Once I got out of school writing didn’t really make another appearances until about ten years later. I got a job at an accounting firm that was over an hour drive from my house. Lunch hours were really boring, so I had to find something to occupy my time. Unveiled started out super choppy based off a scrap book I had with stories in it about me and my friends. It was never meant to see the light of day. Haha! After many, many edits it was actually good enough to put out. And boom! Here I am now.
R. S. Broadhead lives in Jackson, Alabama with her husband of ten years, their two little girls, and a pug named Wednesday Love the Duchess, or Winnie for short. She has a bachelor’s in psychology and a master’s in business administration. She loves to snowboard, travel (Australia is her favorite place so far), and dance (not professionally, just whenever she feels like it). When she was sixteen-years-old, her and her friends would take pictures and make up funny stories about them. Fourteen years later, UNVEILED was born. UNVEILED, her first novel, is the first book in a four book series.
