My Caregiver's Journal

Summary:

I’ve been a caregiver for the better part of 30 years, for my mother, grandmother, and now assisting my father as well as venturing outside the family. It’s never been easy, at times it’s been difficult to put it mildly, but it has always been rewarding. Knowing what I do helps others have a better quality of life is the greatest contribution to society I can imagine for myself.

That doesn’t mean there isn’t an increase of stress in my daily life and I knew I needed ways to decompress. I created this journal to help others manage their caregiving journey as a place to jot down and keep track of your own destressing needs as well as taking note of the tasks you performed for your clients and/or loved ones. I found patterns in my actions and me time that worked best for me and in doing that I found tasks, plans, and paths that allowed me to provide even better care.

There are pages for daily tasks, me time, and random thoughts. Me time pages can be hobbies, movies, music, cooking, family time, and anything else that helps you destress making your me time the best for you which can lead you to discover what gives you the best ability to provide proper and needed care.

I am no doctor, this comes from personal experience and how I’ve been able to provide the best care possible to family, clients, and myself. Caregiving is one of the most rewarding occupations open to so many but it is not easy and can be extremely stressful. I hope this journal allows you to find peace of mind as you traverse the caregiver journey.

Time Capsule of Life's Journey

Summary:

This time capsule is a place to write down all sorts of memories to share with your loved ones, to pass on your journey. This begins with a few basic facts to pass on and then a variety of memory prompts, favorite things, dates they occurred, people involved, and any emotions they conjure up. From your first memory to your bucket list with pages at the end to add future adventures when you check off items from your bucket list. There are pages for random photos and the stories behind them, just use a little sticky tape or photo tabs. Many of the pages have room for any other photos you might want to contribute to the memory. When completed, or nearly, as you can add random memories in the back, you will have a journal that may be a bit bumpy but as I tell my friends, “we often learn more from the bumps and curves than the smooth and straight” and this book gives you the chance to tell a life lived and become a cherished time capsule for future generations to treasure.

I wish I had come up with this a year ago so I could have had my mother fill it out. To have a place with so many stories in one place in her handwriting. Some may wish to fill this out on their own and others will enjoy sharing the stories as you jot them down. However you fill this out be sure to enjoy the recalling and the knowing a piece of your past will live on through these snippets of your adventures and journey.

Finding a Way Through Loss

Born and raised in a small town in western Wisconsin I enjoy the peace and quiet.  Farmer’s daughter by upbringing turned caregiver out of necessity but also want, I spend most of my time helping wherever I can.  I always had the dream of being an author and though things have not turned out as I had always dreamt I have not given up on that dream and one day I know I’ll fulfill it because chasing one’s dreams is what life is all about.

I've recently opened a store on Picfair showcasing some of my amateur photography for sale. I like to focus on nature and landscaping, seeing how light and shadows can create beauty of every day things we tend to take for granted.

Lover of all things Star Wars, George Lucas is my God, lol.  I was 4 when I first saw the original back in 1977 and a devoted fan ever since.  May the 4th and Revenge of the Fifth are celebrated holidays in my house just as I would celebrate Christmas and Halloween.  We can’t all like the same things but beware before badmouthing the galaxy far far away in my presence, I may be a Rebel and Jedi at heart, there are times that bring out the Sith in me.

I read and watch all genres but LGBTQ+ is my jam so if you are looking for a new read be sure and check out my blog, Padme’s Library where I feature mostly MM stories of all genres and tropes but I also do a Friday Film Adaptation of all sorts.

Ty's Journey: Sharing the Lessons, Life and Love of My Adopted PTSD Collie by Ryan Jo Summers

In March, 2015, nine collies were transported from a Tennessee neglect/ hoarding situation to a North Carolina breed-rescue organization. They were collectively called ""The Baseball Team"", and individually they were given baseball-themed names.They were all untrained, neglected and distrustful of people.Some had reverted to near wild-dog instinctive behavior. A male blue merle called Ty Cobb was the first to be adopted.

His adopted 'mama' recorded the first two years of their journey, chronicling their challenges, doubts, setbacks, successes, surprises, and ultimate triumphs as Ty first learned to trust, then to blossom and thrive.

Written in diary style, this is the story of that one particular, unique collie. He went from being a near-feral hoarding victim, without even a name, through a long trail of adjustments, to belonging to a family that treasured him for the special hallmarks that make him 'Ty'. Along the way, as he healed, he also brought healing to others in need.

MCV Egan

M.C.V. Egan is the pen name chosen by Maria Catalina Vergara Egan. Catalina was born in Mexico City, Mexico in 1959, the sixth of eight children, in a traditional Catholic family. From a very young age, she became obsessed with the story of her maternal grandfather, Cesar Agustin Castillo--mostly the story of how he died.

She spent her childhood in Mexico. When her father became an employee of The World Bank in Washington D.C. in the early 1970s, she moved with her entire family to the United States. Catalina was already fluent in English, as she had spent one school year in the town of Pineville, Louisiana with her grandparents. There she won the English award, despite being the only one who had English as a second language in her class. In the D.C. suburbs she attended various private Catholic schools and graduated from Winston Churchill High School in Potomac, Maryland in 1977.

She attended Montgomery Community College, where she changed majors every semester. She also studied in Lyons, France, at the Catholic University for two years. In 1981, due to an impulsive young marriage to a Viking (the Swedish kind, not the football player kind), Catalina moved to Sweden where she resided for five years and taught at a language school for Swedish, Danish, and Finnish businesspeople. She then returned to the USA, where she has lived ever since. She is fluent in Spanish, English, French and Swedish.

Maria Catalina Vergara Egan is married and has one son who, together with their five-pound Chihuahua, makes her feel like a full-time mother. Although she would not call herself an astrologer she has taken many classes and taught a few beginner classes in the subject M.C.V. Egan's new series DEFINING WAYS uses Astrology and the Metaphysical tools.

Kim Iverson Headlee
Kim Headlee lives on a farm in southwestern Virginia with her family, cats, goats, Great Pyrenees goat guards, and assorted wildlife. People and creatures come and go, but the cave and the 250-year-old house ruins—the latter having been occupied as recently as the mid-twentieth century—seem to be sticking around for a while yet. She has been an award-winning novelist since 1999 (Dawnflight first edition, Sonnet Books, Simon & Schuster) and has been studying the Arthurian Legends for nigh on half a century.

Ryan Jo Summers

Ryan Jo Summers is a North Carolina writer who pens romances with a twist. They may contain any number of elements: Christian, humor, mystery, paranormal, sweet, shape-shifting, or time travel. Her dad is a songwriter and his aunt wrote poetry so writing must be in the family genes.

She makes her home in a century-old mountain cottage, with a menagerie of adopted pets. CHAPTER ONE
THE JOURNEY OF SELF-HEALING

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore, will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Psalm 46:1-3 KJV

The years have slowly tick-tocked away and I still have not found the solace needed throughout my journey of self-healing. I constantly find myself (as I am sure other women who have suffered and survived through an abortion; planned or unplanned) pondering the reality of what happened to me, to my body over forty years ago.

In my personal journey of self-healing, I have dealt with that reality in many ways to block the memories. I wanted to forget those painful memories forever seared in my mind, burned into my soul. I turned to drugs (one of the most common areas that many young women who have experienced an abortion do too often) tuning out the pain, the memories.

Drugs are a quick fix and only temporarily block the pain and the reality. Drugs aren't the answer, nor should be a solution to a woman's journey of self-healing. I also turned to unprotected sex as a way of forgetting the pain I had pent up inside my hollowed-out body, a shell of my soul. I knew unprotected sex was wrong. I knew I could get pregnant again. In the months following my abortion, I became confused as to who I was. I became reckless and irrational in my behavior. I didn't care what I did or who I had sex with, I just wanted to forget. I couldn't face myself. The bitterness and shame grew deep within my soul like the roots of a mighty oak tree.

My heart and mind were being strangled with guilt and shame. I could not let myself heal. It took years for me to come out of my dazed stupor and realize unprotected sex wasn't the answer for my healing process. It took years to realize I was never alone.

Throughout the years of my most painful, personal journey I have learned to express my feelings in writing. I have found that writing is a good release of all the pent up emotional baggage a woman stores inside herself after an abortion. As a Christian woman who has experienced an abortion, the most meaningful part of my journey of self-healing has been the bible.

The Word of God has brought comfort to my hurt. I learned to replace drugs and unprotected sex with God's love. Psalm 46:1-3 tells us that God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. When our heart and soul are troubled, we should turn to God. We heal through His strength and very presence in our lives. Let the Word of God heal you. Let it be your strength, your solace, and your comfort in your journey of self-healing.

What inspired you to get into Numerology? 
I was directed by divinity to search for answers on why if there is 1 God there are so many religions, I went to every church to learn and I was lead to the metaphysical world and spirituality.

What is Numerology? 
Numerology is the science of numbers. Numbers as everything in our world is energy and that energy has a meaning and the meaning of numbers reveals who you are. Is there anything you found particularly challenging when writing this book? 
My editor and publisher. My content and all I have learned was easy to put on paper. I didn’t understand the process and I didn’t like the details of putting the book together. 

What kind of answers can Numerology give me? 
Who you are. Your hearts desire, your personality, you attitude, you character, your talents, your weakness and what cycle you are in, in the current year so you know if its time to move forward, or reorganize, rest, and be patient.

Is Numerology based solely on my date of birth? 
No your birth name as well as your current name.

Can Numerology determine romantic compatibility? 
Absolutely I advise all my clients to get a compatibility reading before committing to the relationship. Fore warned is fore armed. If there are challenges numerology has remedies.

How important is numerology in your life? 
Can you give us an example of numerology from your day to day living? If the day is in a down cycle and you try to force an issue it will not manifest in the manner you intended. By the same token if you are in an up cycle and you lay back and don’t pay attention to the opportunities before you, you can kinda say you missed the boat.

What should people keep in mind once they start to explore numerology? 
The information will reveal the unknown you, it can validate what you already know or it can totally surprise you.

Name one entity that you feel supported you outside of family members. 
My God. Every time I tried to put my numerology in the background of my life, things for me would fall apart. This is my gift. I must honor it and share with those who are ready to hear. I grew up knowing I was unique… I began investigating religions, belief systems, and people’s habits about God.

I went to every church in sight to satisfy my continual wondering, “If there is one God, why are there so many churches that teach different things? How do you know which is the right one?

Once I received my answer, I knew the way to God was through spirit centered thinking, feeling and action-not man made religion. I was blessed, as Spirit put before me metaphysical books I studied, and then shared the wisdom in my business at the time, and later with my clients – just for entertainment. The messages were well received and before I knew it my clients were coming to me and asking questions to help them make decisions in their own lives. Mostly decisions about timing… and numerology is all about timing!

Something that began with my own curiosity became my passion to teach and share with others. I paid attention to my own numbers and found the direction in my life, which is leading me to a destination… my heart’s desire; my purpose in this life.
