Heartbroken, Haven heads to the club where he and Kellen originally met, only to find it closed.

With a blizzard descending and nowhere to go, Haven curls up on the club doorstep, courting death. Hopeless and shattered, on the verge of losing consciousness, he makes a wish for Kellen to find happiness some day. Everyone Finn has ever loved walked away from him. He fears caring for anyone when he knows the outcome will shatter his heart again. When Finn falls for Jake, he gives his lover the ultimate gift, a chance to have the dreams he set aside years before even though he knows that if Jake accepts the gift, he’ll walk out of Finn’s life forever. A slave to his love for his Dominant, the submissive finds his true strength in easing Jake’s bitterness even at the cost of his own happiness.

Broken Bonds #1
A door slammed and Haven jumped. He shook so hard he could barely walk. In a stupor, he shuffled toward the door. His trembling fingers fumbled with the buckle of his collar. After several tries, he got it undone. The leather fell to the floor and Haven stepped over it, opening the front door. The instant the snow swirled around him, tears began to slip down his cheeks.

He stood on the front step for a moment, shocked and unable to think. He closed the door behind him. As it clicked shut, separating him from the only happiness he had known since his mother’s death, his tears began in earnest. He didn’t feel the cold. A kind of numbness settled over him, fogging his mind and his body. All he could feel was the breaking of his heart as he stepped onto the sidewalk and began to walk away from Kellen’s house.

As he walked down the street, Haven realized that what he’d thought of as home for the last eight months had been nothing more than his master’s house. He’d been fooling himself to think of it as his home. He’d been insane to believe that if he loved his master enough, one day the man would love him back. His collar had meant nothing to Kellen while it had meant everything to Haven. But now it was gone and he was dismissed into the cold on Christmas Eve. It would be his birthday in a few hours and he had nowhere to go. No one would miss his presence. His place in the world had vanished.

Stumbling as the cold increased, Haven walked the mile and a half to Darkness, the leather club where he’d met Kellen. He had the vague notion that if the club was open, maybe he could sell his body in order to rent a motel room. Or maybe some Dom would take pity on him and take him home for the night.

Haven shuddered at the thought. Even in his numbed state, he knew he couldn’t let another man lay hands on him. He belonged to Kellen whether Kellen wanted him or not. And since Kellen didn’t want him, that left him with very limited options for the future.

When he reached Darkness, he found the club closed. He walked to the main entrance and banged on the black doors for a few minutes. No one answered. The wind howled and snow swirled around him thickly. Staring up at the club’s large doors, Haven’s emotional numbness began to recede a little. In its place came a great dark despair.

Slumping down against the door, Haven wrapped his arms around his drawn up knees and rocked, hoping the motion would bring some heat back to his frozen limbs. It didn’t. His tears still came, but they were no longer a flood. They froze as they dripped from his chin, but Haven no longer cared. He couldn’t feel his feet or fingers any longer and his mind retreated from the certain death he courted in the exposed doorway. His icy fingers pressed against his neck, searching for his collar. When he remembered that he no longer had a collar, he squeezed his eyes shut and slid completely to the ground, lying on the icy cement, curled into a ball.

He would die on his twenty sixth birthday. On Christmas. How ironic that he would leave the world on the same day he came into it. He tried to think of things he’d done that would leave a mark after he was gone, but nothing came to mind. He’d been nothing while he was alive and his death would mean nothing to anyone. Kellen didn’t care. Kellen didn’t love him or want him. He had no reason to stay in a world where he could no longer be with the only man he’d ever loved.

With a whimper, Haven’s eyes closed. His heartbeat became slower and as it did, his despair seeped away. As he fell asleep, he accepted the consequences that came with it, glad for a release from the pain that had shattered him the moment Kellen had told him to take off his collar and leave his house. Without his master, he had no reason to fight for his life.

Bitter Bonds #2
The long haired guitarist sat in the lounge playing a sad melody on his acoustic guitar, a soda can on the end table beside him and a bag of chips on the couch beside his thigh. His hair kept falling in his face as he worked out the song, changing chords and humming along with his playing. Trying to stay as silent as possible, Finn swept the tiled kitchen area and wiped the counter. With one hand stretched toward the microwave door, cleaning wipes at the ready, he fell motionless as the guitarist hit a wrong chord.

Finn winced. The guitarist cursed and tried again. Again, a wrong chord. Finn’s hand fell to his side as he stared at the back of the man’s head. Try ‘A’ minor, he wanted to say, but he remained silent. The guitarist backtracked a little and as he came up on the tricky part again, he still couldn’t make the song work. Curses filled the air.

“Try ‘A’ minor,” Finn said softly, the words escaping him involuntarily.

The guitarist turned to look at him and Finn’s eyes widened. He clapped a hand over his mouth and backed away. The guy stood up, staring.

“I-I’m s-sorry,” Finn stammered, backing up until the counter bit into the small of his back.

The long haired musician frowned. “Do you play guitar?”

Finn shook his head. “Piano.” The musician’s frown disappeared and Finn ventured another sentence. “I went to Juilliard.”

Admiration lit the guitarist’s eyes. “Lucky fuck. ‘A’ minor, huh?” He cocked an eyebrow at Finn and shot him a little smile before returning to his seat and picking his guitar up. This time when he played the tricky part of the melody he smoothly transitioned the song into the ‘A’ minor chord that Finn had suggested. He shot to his feet.

“Jesus, kid! That’s perfect! How’d you know?”

Finn felt his face heat. “I have a knack,” he murmured and started edging away, his broom in hand.

“No, wait! Don’t go,” the guitarist pleaded. “Tell me what you think of this.” He sat down and played a different song for Finn.

Head tilted to one side, Finn closed his eyes and listened to the song. It had a driving beat and he liked it but something was missing. The guitarist stopped playing. Finn opened his eyes to find the guy gazing at him expectantly.

“Well?”

“It needs…” Finn broke off and licked his dry lips, his eyes on the guitarist’s rapt face. “The bridge…it’s…” Fear swamped him. He had no business advising a rock star on how to write a song. He was just a guy who played piano and hadn’t finished college. He drew a deep breath, opened his mouth and spoke.

“The wrong key.”

Another voice said the words at the same and Finn’s heart leaped. He jerked around and found Jake standing about five feet from him, a smile curving his lips. Jake took a few steps toward the couch the guitarist sat on.

“It’s the wrong key, Adam.”

“If you say so, man,” the musician said and stood up. “I trust you, Jake. You know that.” He gestured toward Finn. “That kid knows his stuff. I should hire him.”

Jake shook his head. “He’s mine.”

Adam laughed. “I don’t wanna fuck him, man. I just want his help on these songs.”

Again, Jake shook his head. “He works for me.”

“Whatever, dude.”

Adam walked back into the big studio across from the lounge. The door shut with a thud. Finn glanced up at Jake before returning his gaze to the floor.

“You did good, Finn. I’m proud of you.”

The pleased expression on the Dominant’s face made Finn’s heart race. Jake’s amber eyes glowed with a light that captured Finn’s entire attention. His cock began to throb and swell beneath the denim placket of his jeans. God, he wanted Jake. Had from the moment he’d set eyes on him.

He’d been at Wired for Sound almost three weeks now. He kept the studio spotless and stayed out of the way of the rock stars who had invaded the space to record their albums. He’d learned that all of the musicians respected Jake and his opinion carried a lot of weight with them. They tried to entice him to sing or play on their songs but he always refused. They seemed genuinely disappointed when he turned them down. Finn thought that Jake must really be good if rock stars were begging him to collaborate with them.

“You know, it’s not always easy to hold your own around these guys. They have their diva moments,” Jake said as he stepped closer to Finn. “And some of them aren’t nearly as good as the public thinks they are. Some of them are nothing more than good looks and a decent voice bolstered and held together with good PR, great songwriters and producers and a really solid back up band.”

Finn stared at Jake in disbelief. He hadn’t noticed that the two bands currently working at Wired for Sound lacked talent. His expression must have given away his thoughts because Jake chuckled.

“I don’t mean these guys. They’re all pretty genuine. But there are others who don’t have their talent and yet make more money than both these bands put together,” Jake admitted. “The thing is, it’s okay to give them a little help here and there, but don’t ever step into the trap of agreeing to work with them. That’s not a smart move.”

“Why not?” Finn asked, tilting his head to look up at the Dominant.

Jake snorted and rubbed a hand over the back of the couch. “For you, the main one would be that they’d end up treating you like your parents did. Oh, they wouldn’t trot you out like a performing pig but they’d use you just the same.”

“Is that why you won’t ever sing with them or write songs with them when they ask?”

A glimmer of appreciation appeared in Jake’s amber eyes. “I know better than to let them exploit me. They respect me, but they’d use me in a heartbeat if they could. Better that they learn right now that you aren’t going give them any more than you just gave Adam.”

Finn’s mouth curled into a smile. “He was pissed that you wouldn’t let me help him.”

Another snort escaped Jake. “He’ll get over it. His diva-tude never lasts long. He just isn’t used to people telling him no.”

Sliding a foot forward, Finn inched closer to Jake. He glanced up at the older man through the fringe of hair that hung over his forehead.

“He seemed to take it for granted that I belong to you,” Finn said softly.

Jake’s hand came out to cup Finn’s chin. Their gazes met. Jake sighed. Finn quivered.

“Yeah, I did sort of give them all the sense that you belong to me. I wanted to make sure they left you alone,” Jake admitted.

Heart leaping, Finn decided he’d waited long enough to ask the question that had been on the tip of his tongue from the moment he’d first set eyes on Jake. “Do you want me to belong to you?”

Heat flared in Jake’s eyes, but he heaved a sigh and a rueful smile tilted his mouth up in one corner. “Yes. We both know that I do. But that doesn’t mean it’s right and it doesn’t mean I will.”

“Why not? I want you too. You must know that.” Finn knew he sounded like he was begging but he couldn’t help himself. He’d never wanted anyone the way he wanted Jake.

A door slammed and three members of the other band working at Wired for Sound burst out of the middle studio. Jake moved away from Finn, the delicate balance of the moment they’d just shared broken by the band’s raucous laughter. Finn decided that he wouldn’t let the subject die though. Later, when he and Jake were alone, he would bring it up again.

Subs for Lunch #2.5
They stepped into the sandwich shop and turned toward the menu. Behind the chest high counter, three young beautiful men were in the midst of making sandwiches and serving customers. Micah glanced over at his friends. Both of them stared opened mouthed at the hotties. Micah could barely hold back his giggles. He knew that neither of his friends were agog over the attractive men. Instead, their eyes were drawn to the simple T-shirts each man wore.

“The hottest sub in town” one shirt proclaimed.

“The meatiest sub in town” stated another.

And on the third shirt, “The tastiest sub in town!” was displayed in huge white letters across the young man’s slim but muscular chest.

“Fuck. I want one,” Finn murmured as he stared at the shirts. “Gotta get me one.”

Micah looked at his best friend. Haven seemed mesmerized by the shirts.

“You got that right,” he agreed.

They both turned to Micah who wiggled his brows at them suggestively. “I see you like this shop as much as I do.”

“You’re brilliant,” Finn told him.

Several customers brushed past them on their way out, leaving the shop empty but for the three of them. Micah pointed toward the cash register. Haven’s and Finn’s gazes followed his finger and they all fell silent. Six feet four inches of dominant man stood at the register frowning at them. The T-shirt that stretched across his considerable pectoral muscles proclaimed, “My sub is Mouthwatering.”

“What’s the name of this place?” Haven murmured, apparently unable to look away from the scowling dominant.

“Mouthwatering Subs,” Micah replied triumphantly. He’d kept the sandwich shop a secret for the past week, waiting to spring it on his friends. He’d known they would react in exactly this way.

Finn shook his head slowly as if to clear it. “It’s like a dream. So naughty. So perfect.”

Someone cleared their throat, the sound loud in the nearly empty shop. Micah watched his friends blink and come back to earth as two more men came in from the back to join the man at the register. They instantly recognized the signs of a dominant in the larger of the two men. The smaller one was just as beautiful and submissive as the men behind the counter. The three friends glanced at each other and then back at the shirts. The new dominant wore a shirt exactly like the other Dom. His submissive’s shirt said, “Subs the way you like them…Mouthwatering.”

As they stared at the shirts, Finn’s breath audibly caught in his throat. From behind the counter, the three sandwich makers smirked at Micah’s dazed friends. Obviously, the twinks were used to people staring. Just as obviously, the two dominants didn’t like it.

The newest arrival, the twink with the “Subs the way you like them” shirt, spoke up. “Can we help you?”

“Yeah, I want one of each,” Finn said, flicking his white blond hair out of his eyes.

The young man blinked in astonishment. “One of each sandwich?”

Haven choked on a laugh. “No, I think he wants to buy your shirts, but we’ll order lunch too.”

Author Bios:
Anna Birmingham
Hello fellow readers and writers! I'm originally from the UK but currently living in and loving the USA. I have been reading and attempting to write m/m stories for around three years. It's a not so new guilty pleasure. I used to work in finance but am currently a stay at home mom to two young children under the age of four, so free time doesn't come along that often. When it does, writing about hot guys doing sexy things is the perfect antidote to the 'terrible twos'!

Rena Butler
Born and raised in Florida, Rena Butler has long been in love with the written word.  She discovered the joys of writing M/M romance several years ago, and her Muse likes to visit very late at night. She has worked as everything from a seamstress to a theme park character to a graduate teaching assistant, but dreams of becoming a full-time writer.  When she gets a little spare money, she likes to travel, and would one day like to return to Australia, where she spent a memorable semester studying abroad.  In addition to reading anything she can get her hands on, she also enjoys sniffing clean laundry right from the dryer and filling out crossword puzzles with a freshly-sharpened pencil.

Henrietta Clarke
Henrietta Clarke is a quirky Yorkshire lass who had the misfortune to discover the path she was actually meant to take in life three days into an intensive postgraduate course. Now free from the hell of law study, she divides her time between working as a lunchtime supervisor in a primary school, training as a fiction editor, and writing her own stories. When she’s not working, Henrietta can usually be found in the kitchen, hanging out with her parents and eccentric dogs or baking cupcakes. Every remaining second is spent reading or sleeping—sometimes simultaneously.

A hopeless romantic who is as much in love with the English language as with all the delicious fictional men it creates, Henrietta suffers from abibliophobia and has a serious book-buying addiction as a consequence. The day there are no unread items on her Kindle will be the day the Earth stops turning. Her other addictions include bad TV and chilli in any form, and she collects everything from books and DVDs to china elephants, keyrings and photo frames—most of which stay empty far too long. She has a minor obsession with rainbows, and plots everything in purple Sharpie.

Taylin Clavelli
Taylin Clavelli lives in the United Kingdom, about fifteen miles south of Birmingham, with the world famous Cadbury’s Chocolate just about a neighbor. She’s married with children and loves her family with all her heart.

Her love of books has been a long-standing affair. Taylin likes nothing better than to lose herself in an imaginary world. Favorite authors include Wilbur Smith, David Gemmell, and David and Leigh Eddings.

Outside of writing, her interests include martial arts (she’s a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae kwon do), horse riding, and movies, all of which facilitate her love of a variety of genre movies. Her action heroes include Jet Li and Tony Jaa. If pressed, she’ll admit to thinking the first appearance of Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl to be the greatest screen entrance ever. Her all-time favorite movies are Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.

Bell Ellis
Bell Ellis made her writing debut at the age of eight with a series of truly dreadful stories about unicorns.  She continued to happily produce abysmal fiction until she was distracted by several college degrees, a social life, and a steady career in software design.  By the time she returned to her writing again, several of her acquaintances informed her that she'd fallen into the terrible habit of actually writing readable stories.  She never recovered from this.  Now she produces tolerable fiction at a furious rate in a tiny little house in the woods, to the dismay of her two cats, various family members, and legions of abandoned unicorns.

Kim Fielding
I have lived in Illinois, Oregon, Nebraska, and Croatia, but for a long time now I've called the boring part of California home. I have a husband, two daughters, a day job as a university professor, and a passion for travel. I write in many genres--contemporary, fantasy, paranormal, historical--but no matter when and where my stories are set, I love complex worlds and complicated characters. I think that often it's a person's flaws that make him stronger and more beautiful.

Ellee Hill
I am a native New Englander who has dreamed of seeing my stories in print ever since winning the Young Authors contest in the fourth grade. My love of books, and my father’s way with words,  began my journey into writing. A lover of travel, French fries, and my smartphone, I got over the fear of rejection by posting fan fiction while creating original works on the side. It’s thanks to the support of my friends and family, and their amazing examples of courage and determination, that I made that final push to get my first short story published. When told the good news, my mother said happily, “Honey, it’s about damn time.” I couldn’t agree more.

Kiernan Kelly
Kiernan Kelly lives in Florida among the alligators and palmetto bugs with her husband and a Shar Pei-Labrador puppy who thinks she's a person (the dog, not Kiernan. Kiernan knows she's a person. At least, she is after she's had her daily dose of caffeine). Kiernan spends most of her time writing gay erotic romance while chained to a computer in the dark recesses of her office, which her children have dubbed, "The Gay Cave."

Venona Keyes
VENONA KEYES is a modern woman who believes in doing it all; if doing it all is only in her head. She amazes people that she can be wholly unorganized yet pack a perfect carryon suitcase for a ten-day trip to Paris. She is a believer in the “just in time” theory and can be seen sprinting in airports to the gate before the plane door closes.
She has experienced love and loss at the deepest levels and is thankful for writing and daydreaming, for it kept—and still keeps—her sane. Writing also introduced her to some of the most supportive and wonderful people, for which she will always be grateful.
Venona is a voracious reader, loves her two feline boys, volunteers at an animal shelter, is an accomplished speaker, and enjoys swimming, biking, skipping, and her beloved overgrown garden.

Kate Pavelle
Just about everything Kate Pavelle writes is colored by her life experiences, whether the book in your hand is romance, mystery, or adventure. Kate grew up under a totalitarian regime behind the Iron Curtain. In her life, she has been a hungry refugee and a hopeful immigrant, a crime victim and a force of lawful vengeance, a humble employee and a business owner, an unemployed free-lancer and a corporate executive, a scientist and an artist, a storyteller volunteering for her local storytelling guild, a martial artist, and a triathlete. Kate’s frequent travels imbue her stories with local color from places both exotic and mundane.
Kate Pavelle is encouraged in her writing by her husband, children, and pets, and tries not to kill her extensive garden in her free time. Out of the five and a half languages she speaks, English is her favorite comfort zone.

Teegan Loy
Teegan Loy began writing a long time ago. Notebooks filled with ideas were stacked around the house. One day, she sat down with renewed ambition and something fantastic happened: she completed a story.

Now most of her time is spent writing, but she takes an occasional break to go to the movies, where she imagines her stories on the big screen. She also enjoys watching hockey, filling her IPod with music and driving her daughter around town to various activities.

K. Lynn
K. Lynn has been an avid reader and writer since childhood. In her youth, she could most likely be found in the local library, devouring books that covered everything from WWII History to Dr. McCoy's latest adventures aboard the Enterprise, with some X-Men thrown in for good measure. Once she had read everything that was on the shelves, she turned around and read them again. K. Lynn was also known to create elaborate adventures that more than once made it to the page. Ink-filled papers gave way to overflowing computer memory as the years went on, but the stories never ceased.

While in college, K. Lynn increased her involvement in LGBT issues and writing within the LGBT fiction genre. She has become a long-time fan of the authors that seek to explore the commonality that exists within all sexualities and genders. Most of K. Lynn's work features LGBT characters, many of whom are in established relationships and show how love perseveres through every trial and tribulation that life holds. She also has a particular interest in seeing transgender characters gain a larger foothold within the LGBT fiction genre, hoping that the market for these works expand in the future.

K. Lynn has degrees and certificates from UNC-Chapel Hill in the areas of American History, Religion, Creative Writing, Public Health, and Journalism. She is a member of Mensa and has an extensive writing and editing background. To her, life is an ongoing adventure where she seeks to learn something new every day. When K. Lynn is not writing short stories, she is working on her novels. Her interests range from erotica to education, with stops along the way in paranormal fiction, historical novels, and established relationship romance. Give her a good story and she's willing to read.

E.T. Malinowski
E.T. Malinowski is the youngest of seven girls. It was her love of reading that eventually led her to attempt writing. From there, a passion was born. She began writing romance in her early teens and, at that time, never dreamed of sharing her work with anyone. With the help of several dear friends, not to mention her ex-husband, she found the courage to take that last step towards publication.
As the single mother of three rambunctious boys, finding time to write is a bit difficult. Yet, E.T. manages to do it, even if it’s on break or lunch at a regular day job. She has found her place in homoerotic romance. To her, love doesn’t recognize gender boundaries and is always special.

An avid reader, E.T. finds inspiration in all her favorite genres, from mainstream romance by her favorite authors to Japanese manga and Anime. To her, even the classic fairytales hold that spark of motivation and if there is one thing she has learned from her many years of writing solely for herself, it’s this; Never deny the Muse, she gets cranky and pulls out the bullwhip.

Aundrea Singer
Aundrea Singer was born in Canada and spent her formative years on a hobby farm, helping her parents raise chickens, ducks, geese, and turkeys, and a plethora of cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rabbits, and hamsters. She has always had an active imagination—she enjoyed turning her Barbies into bounty hunters—and has been an avid fan of sci-fi and fantasy since her mother read Lloyd Alexander and Madeleine L'Engle to her at a terribly impressionable age.

Despite these beginnings, she was well into adulthood before giving up her aspirations to normalcy and embracing her geekatude, whereupon she naturally fell in love with an engineer and moved to Texas. She started telling stories before she could write and will always be enthralled with how words can be used to create entire universes. She is grateful to her husband that she is now able to write full time. Aundrea still lives in Texas with her much-beloved husband, three cats of varying levels of insanity, and the most wonderful little boy in the entire world. Her pen name is a small homage to her parents, her heritage, and her husband, as well as a salute to the gaming buddies she left behind.

A.C. Valentine
AC Valentine is a New Yorker who recently traded her quiet bohemian life in the Village for the wild metropolis of Vermont. She dragged with her a tattooed corporate husband, a small child, a neurotic dog, and several libraries worth of books.

She can’t clean or cook but can throw a mean party. She can always be found bemoaning the lack of a day job while happily reading or writing m/m fiction or fiddling around with some craft project to add to the pile that is threatening to take over the dining room. The newest craft project is a bouncing baby boy who believes all the other craft projects are edible.
